The best meal I had in Brussels - Edit
We stopped here on the way back to the station after a long weekend in Brussels. I had hummus with roasted aubergine and spicy almonds. I don't know what made the hummus so good but it's now the benchmark I will rate my homemade hummus against. I'll have to start cooking with more care now I know. The fresh homemade pitta bread was also great, really soft chewy and fresh.

Coffee place in the morning, falafel for lunch - Edit
Small cafe in a street with no other cafe's or restaurants. Went here in the morning to have a coffee, they only serve falafel and houmous after 11:30. They also have some nice local beers, and good outside seating. I had a lovely vegan carrot cake with my coffee. Place looks friendly and inviting, service was friendly. Very nice!

I love falafel and I tried many places in Brussels. I think Fava has the tastier ones, a real explosion of spices! The bread is also very good.

Made me fall back in love with hummus - Edit
As a fairly new vegan I'm already kind of burnt out on sad, stodgy hummus and falafel as the only vegan option in places that don't want to put any thought into it. Fava made me fall back in love with it. Friendly, welcoming staff, a promisingly simple menu, fun beverages options. I had the hummus mosul with roast eggplant and zhough, which turned out to be a full meal plus leftovers for me. Slightly warm, soft, creamy, well seasoned, lots of enjoyable texture with the toasted nuts, tomato slices and raw onions on top, dripping with good olive oil, accompanied by pillowy pita bread that clearly came fresh from the oven. Just a really lovely place, I'll definitely come back whenever I'm in Brussels.
