Disappointing, thank god I didn't order as normal - Edit
Was definitely disappointed, was looking to get 2 burgers, milkshake and a dessert as I'm a big eater. After the first burger I realised it wasn't worth it. They didn't have vegan desserts or milkshakes available which I get, menus change dwindling demand etc. But I asked for waffle fries and got regular (only charged for eh regular so I wasn't too bad but till disappointing) and the burger I asked for had the wrong Patty inside. Staff didn't even seem to realise that it was an issue until I pointed it out. Again I understand if you don't have stuff in, but let the customer know, I would have ordered a different burger, I ended up with a mismatched burger which wasn't bad but not what I wanted. They said they didn't have the other plant patty (I probably would have asked them to swap it out and I would have had the first patty dressed as another burger everybody wins) All round a little poor. Staff asked if it was alright but at that point it was done, I'm not one to waste food but ruined the experience, wouldn't choose to return. Couldn't even blame it on rush as I went in at 4 pm so it was quiet apart from the overly load music. Trying to find somewhere else I want to eat now.

Bit of a let down - Edit
Ate with 3 others today. The vegan burgers didn't seem like southern fried and were bought in rather the made and a little dissapointing. They no longer to vegan shakes which is what I had driven for, my bad for not checking. The fried comes with spice on them as standard which was not mentioned on the menu so the teens were a bit miffed. Server started taking our plates away before we had finished eating, at one point leaning over our food and I had to grab some Frickles from my plate or they were going to be swept away too. Spent over 80 pounds and it was very mid for that money. Wouldn't go again.

The best onion rings! - Edit
The onion rings and tater tots are a staple for me at a Fat Hippo and the Birmingham brand did not disappoint, so good! The burger was good too, it was the Five Lies which is the ‘beef’ style burger - kind of a basic burger combo with slaw pickles mustard and ketchup. It didn’t look as show stopping as others I’ve had before but taste wise it was on point. Definitely worth a visit - onion rings are a non negotiable 👏🏼

Read moreMy wife and I tried all the best they had to offer vegan wise. At the one end, the Parm-Ela Anderson burger was very, very good with a garlic butter fries side to die for. Seriously, Fat Hippo if you read this, make this a regular on your menu.
Some of the food was good and fine - the regular menu burgers that is and sides but be warned - the Fat Hippo sauce has a bit of a kick and this isn’t explained in menus.
Finally, the service… it was friendly and welcoming. But - I asked if a milkshake was vegan or could be veganised and was told it was vegan. My drink arrived and after having to taste the cream to determine it wasn’t vegan (and didn’t clock the meat bacon on top), I was met with an apology and a fresh drink. But I can’t help feel slightly annoyed that it was missing bacon when they have facon for other dishes and they were out of another ingredient so it wasn’t really like the item on the menu. Not to mention I specified vegan from the out. At that price, frustrating.
Will I return again? Not sure.

Super filling indulgent burgers. Had their limited edition christmas one with Christmas chips. Would recommend! Will have to come back to try their milkshakes

Despite ordering a vegan burger I was given a chicken burger instead. They had replaced my burger with the correct dish when I complained and removed the item from the bill but unfortunately my trust in them has gone.

The frickles were amazing but no dappa! - Edit
I have been wanting to go to fat hippo for ages as I’ve been desperate to try the vegan soft-serve. The starters were amazing. We shared the frickles and vegan trash browns. Both we’re great!

The biggest disappointment was that the ice-cream machine is broken and has been for weeks apparently. This was the main reason I went so not particularly impressed to be honest.
Some of the food was a bit greasy, especially the onion rings.

Sadly lacked a lot - Edit
We both had the 5 lies burger and it looked very sorry for itself. The burger was over cooked. I ordered hand cuts and was only told when the food arrived they didn’t have any. Their soft serve machine is broken so no desserts. A disappointing experience.
