Waan Can’t Complain - Edit
Where better to spend the Eid al Etihad weekend than at an Arabic brunch in a restaurant that is perfectly situated to make the most of Dubai’s crowning glory? With the promise of more days to recover from the excesses of the day, I was eager to eke out as much from this experience as possible, and that all began by procuring a beverage and soaking in the views.
Read moreOf course, regardless of how many libations I would be plied with, or how spectacular the outlook was, it would all count for nothing if the spread was substandard. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the calibre of the location, there wasn’t even a hint of mediocrity to be found. Sincerely, I would have been more taken aback if it were any different, but sheer excellence was mightily impressive nonetheless.
A clear benchmark that I was somewhere above the ordinary was evident in the most rudimentary dishes. The tabbouleh was bright and light without the usual earthy, acrid aftertaste; the cauliflower with tahini was roasted and dressed to perfection; and even the humble carrot salad, which had no right being so good, was brimming with zesty freshness and toothsome bite.
Salads and their ilk weren’t the only wellspring of brilliance; there was almost as much to be desired elsewhere, such as the unexpectedly additive lentil soup, the simply fabulous homemade fries and, best of all, the sumptuously fluffy vegetable baos.
As a final feather in the cap of this wholly marvellous experience, there were even desserts to savour. Usually, the sight of mango sorbet as an option would cause me to despair slightly, but given the quality of what had preceded it, I knew here that I needn’t fear an icy facsimile of ice cream. With the other sweet option, the jalebi, I had zero reservations that this too would be great; crisp, sticky, and saccharine, it was the perfect bite to end on.
With exemplary service, tasteful decor, and superb food, there is nothing stopping me from recommending this venue.
