Great bento - Edit
If you look at it just from the perspective that it's a bento, then its very good. It sucks that it's cold but that is what it is. If you look at it as a normal meal, it really doesn't hold up to be honest.

Vegan to-go food! - Edit
I'm so grateful for this place, as Hakata area doesn't have many vegan options. The prices are great ~ 5-6 USD per set, and the food is delicious.

Top notch vegan bentō - Edit
It's not often you find a shop selling vegan ekiben, but this place does them exclusively, and they're good at what they do.
Read moreMany options are available each day with different foods and in different sizes. From rice balls to seaweed salad to fried things to pastas to desserts, you really can't miss. Prices are also very reasonable for what you get. Definitely stop by on your way to anywhere from Hakata Station.

Best ever! 10/5 stars - Edit
Ok, let me start with that Fukuoka doesn’t have much advertised vegan food out of this “tourist center”. Fine. I understand I’m overseas… but in the major train station, they have grab and go bento meals! Best thing ever! I’m literally going to youtube this because it’s not well enough known. Grab vegan food, visit your tourist sites, eat well! Amazing! Enjoy you’re trip 💖

Good vegan food, good prices - Edit
I buy a few things here every time I am in Hakata train station. Everything has always been really good. Prices are reasonable. Mostly traditional bentos but vegan, also onigiri and once they had a really good bagel with awesome vegan cream cheese. A few cookies too. Not hard to find exactly but the shopping area is vast, so a couple of times I had to ask for directions at the information desk. Basically down two sets of stairs from the Shinkansen or one set of stairs from the regular JR platform area, in the part of the mall where there are a lot of similar small food shops/stalls. You don’t need to go outside the train station or into the multilevel buildings nearby, it’s in a kind of department store area with a food court area, next to/just below the trains and in the same building as the train station. It has a sign in English that says Macrobiotic.
Read morePros: near both regular JR lines and Shinkansen, lots of choices, good prices, tastes great, also they are friendly

Best bento - Edit
A little bit not easy to find the first time as the food streets are so overwhelming. Happy to see they are still here after the pandemic. Locate right across Mister Donut which is a good indication.

Amazing All Vegan Bento Counter - Edit
This is what every train station in Japan needs! An all vegan bento counter with a huge variety of bento boxes at very reasonable prices!
Read moreWe arrived at the Fukuoka airport around noon and took the train just two stops away to JR Hakata station. We picked up three bento boxes and a muffin, and we walked over to a park nearby for lunch, before exploring the rest of Fukuoka. Everything was delicious, and it was such a delight to be able to have fully vegan Japanese-style bento and enjoy the sun outside!

Delicious and reasonably priced - Edit
I was just so happy to find a vegan bento stand in the station that its existence alone would have been enough to keep me coming back. However, the bento I had was excellent, with a variety of tasty items. I need to figure out a good way to get to the rice underneath before eating all the tasty items on top, though. (It is separated by a plastic sheet to keep it from absorbing things and getting soggy.)

Convenient location, so/so food - Edit
There are some very nice flavours, eg the tempeh with tofu in a bento section, but i's mainly pretty plain rice. I thought it was ok, a friend hated it, and an acquaintance loves it a lot.

Delicious vegan bentos - Edit
Read more in this vegan Fukuoka guide: https://itravelforveganfood.com/vegan-fukuoka-guide/
Read moreIn Hakata Station, find the street that has many food stalls called いっぴん通り. In there you can find the Evah Dining shop that vegan bento boxes and onigiri. They are all delicious and affordable.
They have a nice variety of bentos and onigiri. For example, one will have 6 different dishes and 3 types of rice. The dishes are varied and well-cooked. A deep fried ‘oyster’, cream pasta, tofu patty, etc.
I would also recommend buying some bento from this shop before heading to the airport as the vegan option there is very limited. It also shouldn’t be too difficult as the airport is only 2 metro stations away from Hakata Station.
Pros: All vegan, Nicely made Japanese bento and onigiri, Convenience location
