Ethos - Edit
Ristorante carino, si trova in una via defilata vicino Khaosan Road. Cibo molto buono, un po’ costoso rispetto alla media ma ho mangiato davvero bene e il personale era gentile

Good drinks - Edit
We didn’t eat here but the drinks were yummy (although if you’re not careful they are very sweet so make you specify). Nice atmosphere and has tables for floor sitting. Nice that it’s open til later, we tended to chill here after dinner.
Read moreThe food was too expensive for us (a lot was 200 baht) so we didn’t try in the end.
We tried:
- masala coconut shake (yummy but sweet)
- papaya coconut shake (mostly coconut, not much papaya)
- thai herb kombucha (good! Not super bubbly which we prefer)
- mango shake I believe

Delicious pancake with strawberries.

Food and ethos both quite a disappointment - Edit
The falafel dish lacked a good, flavour-packed salad. I really missed coriander, mint and some pickled veggies here. The falafel itself was a bland disc of protein. The hummus was good though. The dish was kinda pricey (280 baht), comparable with Dutch prices for a falafel. But it really did not reach that level of yummyness. I thought the dish was overpriced.
Read moreMy husband had the tempeh salad. The salad was the exact kind of salad a meat-eater would joke about regarding vegans: lettuce, some red cabbage, shredded carrot, tomato, bland unmarinated fried tempeh and way too little peanut sauce. It was really sad. It could have been a great salad, considering the restaurant has the right ingredients in the kitchen, like chickpeas, some juice for the tempeh (soy sauce would be a start), whole peanuts, some veggies... Paying 180 baht seems way out of balance.
Anyway, the food was quite bland and really not worth the money.
I really disliked the disinformation on the menu about soy. It is extremely outdated that consuming too much soy products will give you man boobs or breast cancer. Really people, update your info please or refrain yourself from giving "advice" - especially if you don't give any information about the health implications of dairy (and environmental and ethical, for that matter). Spreading this kind of pro-dairy propaganda is really not helping spread veganism.

We had the yellow and green curry with brown rice (!) and delicious tempeh with peanut sauce on the side. The Massala shakes were worth the try too😄

Food OK, ethos confusing - Edit
The food here is good, and I appreciate the effort to incorporate health-conscious and ethical considerations into the menu. However, there are inconsistencies in how these values are presented. For example, the menu provides "guidance" (read outdated science) on the health impacts of certain foods, cautioning vegans against soy milk due to potential hormone effects while not addressing similar concerns with dairy. Additionally, while the restaurant promotes values of integrity and sustainability, it still serves dairy, a significant greenhouse gas generating industry.
Read moreAs someone who chose this restaurant for its vegan options, I was hoping for a more inclusive and well-rounded approach to plant-based dining. It would be great to see a more consistent alignment between the restaurant's stated values and its menu choices, as well as a broader range of non-dairy alternatives for those looking to avoid animal products.
Pros: Pancakes
Cons: Preachy, Some unsubstantiated health claims

The best place I ate in Bangkok - Edit
So many options, all clearly labelled, including for desserts and drinks/shakes. I came for dinner and had the massaman, it was described as quite spicy but I would say it was mild, which suited me. The portions were generous. If I had more days I would definitely come back! The vibes were lovely

Ethos of Hunger - Edit
We journey’d to Ethos through the alley. The food on the menu said “spicy” on several Thai dishes, but the spice levels were “low/medium” by our standards. We’ve learned that “spicy” at tourist spots means “there are spices in the food”, not actual spice levels. The Tom Kha was flavorful but I needed to put Thai chillies in it to make it a medium. The green curry had excellent flavors, spice levels were low-medium but the depth of flavor made it up for it.

Alright food - Edit
The atmosphere was great.. cozy place and nice seating if you like sitting on the floor or at a table. Even homemade kombucha! (Which was very tasty)
Read moreI really wanted to love this place.. however, every step of our order was messed up. Forgotten food, messed up orders and didn’t take my allergies seriously. I really wanted to try the home made tempeh but that order got messed up too.
So many components of a really amazing place but I can’t give it the praise I want when even the fried rice was intensely sweet.

Need to try dinner menu soon - Edit
I went there for breakfast right after it opened in the morning 7:30am so this is not including the rest of the menu they said they were only serving breakfast
Read moreThe coffee was good and they had soy milk
Im american so I eat alot of pancakes and these seemed really dry for the vegan pancakes they use gluten free flour so maybe that contributes and theres no maple syrup they only put the topping sauce on very lightly and give a small cup of coconut cream definitely not enough for the massive pancake
I barely completed half of the pancake because every bite was so dry it was hard to eat and I needed to chug drinks
I would love to go back and try the rest of the menu for lunch/dinner

The portions are generous here and the food is so good! We ordered a massaman curry with rice each plus a papaya salad. We were both too full for the desert, they have a vegan apple crumble!!! There is half ground seating and half normal table seating. It's a bohemian vibey place :)

Good location - Edit
This is a good cafe with a big menu. It’s really close to Khao San Road which is great. We went for breakfast and got the pancakes. They were nice, not great. Really cheap meal and from our scan of the menu, everything is priced really cheaply. We have no desire to go back. I think there are better places to eat in Bangkok so wouldn’t recommend this place.

Authentic feel Thai veggie/vegan restaurant - Edit
We enjoyed our freshly cooked Thai food with tofu.

A mix of tables and chairs, and low tables with floor cushions.
We enjoyed our visit and we would go again. Towards the end of our evening the staff were a little inattentive (on their phones, but maybe it was their break?)

Fresh and indulging, with pseudoscience twist - Edit
Loved the atmosphere, the floor seating and the food. I had the tempeh salad with peanut sauce, and it was delicious. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake with coconut cream, which made me so full I was barely able to walk out of there! I also enjoyed a lemon grass iced tea. Be aware that the amount of sugar they add to the tea is very generous (and for me, too much). Everything was delicious. However, as a scientist, I did not appreciate the generous helping of pseudoscientific advice about soy consumption. This is simply not true, and has been discredited years ago. Other advice about "healthy" this and that should probably be taken with a grain of salt.
Read moreThe service was also really slow. I asked to see the menu after my salad, and had to wait 15 min (u til I approached them at the counter) to place my order.

Disliked the green curry - Edit
I feel so bad for this review because the restaurant is gorgeous and vegan and vegetarian! But the green curry just wasn’t to my taste whatsoever. I really hate tofu that hasn’t been fried, just boiled in a curry.
Read moreI’m used to green curries at home in Thai restaurants which don’t seem to be spicy at all, only a ‘little bit spicy’ was very hot for me and every mouthful I was sipping water 😅 I found the curry to be really heavy on one ingredient (either Thai basil or kaffir lime leaves) which gave it a very potent taste, it just wasn’t a very pleasant experience.
