Hits it out of the park every time

If you want world-class vegan food with a gorgeous atmosphere and stellar service, this is the place, and you will pay for it. Every time it is different, and everything is always amazing, even foods I didn't particularly think I liked. The wine pairing is well worthwhile. If you like the kale chips, they often have bags available for purchase. If you like an old-fashioned, theirs is terrific (and was even available for delivery pre-vaccines). You'll see the owner on the floor ensuring everyone gets what they need. Servers are very well-informed about the food.

Pros: Atmosphere, All vegan, Service

Cons: Pricey, Can get loud when busy, Only open Friday and Saturday nights for dinner

Worth it

I came here for my birthday, and the tasting menu was unbelievable. We added the cheese board as an appetizer, and it did not disappoint. Not everything we had was raw vegan, but several of the items were. Everything was prepared with an eye for well balanced flavors and an artfully designed plate. The meal was about $400 with the cheese plate and a few drinks between my boyfriend and I, so this is definitely not an every day type of place, but for a special occasion, I enjoyed it. The service was absolutely spectacular as well. Definitely a unique experience.

Cons: EXPENSIVE

It’s not raw or vegan anymore

I went to Elizabeth’s Gone Raw last weekend, and there was so much junk food on their menu. Super fried, greasy “fish and chips.” they served honey on their menu, so not vegan. All the courses were cooked, which I don't have a problem with cook food but fried; it seems they added fast food into their menu. Also, they need to hire an experienced chef who knows what veganism is and what raw food is. The food was the worst, thank God they change their menu often because it was not worth spending 400 dollars for a menu that lacks so much. Not recommend this menu. The flavors are not just weird but too busy. For example, there was a course that had pickled and fish flavor with some other flavors and too greasy it felt I was eating fast food disgusting fish and chips it left a weird aftertaste 🤢

Cons: Expensive , Too bland or too many flavors at the same time , Not vegan, too greasy,

Worth the money

Incredibly well done. I’ve eaten at pretty much every high end restaurant in the city over the years and this ranks up there. Beats the plant based high end in Seattle as well - wish I could transplant this place.

Notably impressive is their ability to make a “fishy” dish taste… like a fish dish. I find many places fail at this but they have it down perfectly here.

Pros: Technique and skill, Flavors are all paired well, Great cocktails and wine options

A luxurious experience

I got a vegan cheese plate plus the coursed pre fixe meal. Absolutely stunning plating, incredible technical skill, and combinations of organic flavors that will blow your mind. Bravo!

Fancy vegan cuisine

This was an elegant, luxurious experience. I went here the Fall of 2020. They had excellent ventilation in consideration of the pandemic and socially-distanced tables. The service was excellent without being stuffy and the food was stellar. Considering my husband and I didn't hold back - we had multiple drinks, the tab was probably one of the highest we've ever paid for in our lives! We will go back again, but it will be for a special occasion.

Pros: Creative cooking

One of the world's best vegan restaurants

We live in New York City but we made a special trip in July to Elizabeth's Gone raw to celebrate my birthday.

The restaurant is located in a beautifully furnished Federalist-era townhouse. The service was impeccable, and the food was truly outstanding and innovative. Elizabeth was delightful as a host who went out of her way to personally welcome and chat with diners.

Most upscale vegan dining experience to date

By far the most upscale dining experience I’ve had in over 5 years of veganity. Excellent food, service and wine pairings. My one cocktail that I had before dinner was also delicious. We all had the Prix fixe and were happy with the choice. Definitely be back for special occasions.

Pros: All vegan with majority raw options w/ wine, Prix fixe menu that changes monthly, 5 Star dining experience

Cons: Expensive, Prix fixe menu that changes monthly, 5 Star dining experience

Each month the menu is different!

6 months ago I had the best meal of my life and we were stuffed. Last Friday was super disappointing. Each course was just ok this time. We were still hungry at the end. I make reservations here the same time I book my flights to DC. I will be checking the menu ahead of time. I’m still excited to try again another month.

Pros: All vegan, Different each month, Fancy

Cons: Some menus better than others

Elegant Af, but where’s the food?

Our bill was 278.00 for two people. 2 drinks, 2 full 7 course meals.
I love the style , elegance but I don’t love it enough to go back.
They didn’t have any sweet wines or any sweeter cocktails . They should really have a range or offer to make it sweeter.
The courses were decedent small portions some only a few bites. All very refreshing but no savory creamy indulgent dishes. Even the desert wasn’t too rich .
I love the ambiance but can we add just a little smidge more food I shouldn’t be craving something leaving a 7 course meal. We went for anniversary , but won’t ever spend that much on food again .

Wow!

Wow! This place was amazing. To be honest, I’ve only had a few vegan tasting menus in my life (they’re pricey!) but this one is head and shoulders above the rest. All the fine dining places I’ve been to have had great service, beautifully presented dishes, and nice wine pairings, and Elizabeth’s Gone Raw is no different. However, this place really distinguishes itself with its flavors, which for me is paramount. At other places, I have sometimes left the restaurant feeling like the meal was missing something or that the different vegetable dishes started to blend together. That was not a problem here. We had an amazing array of dishes, each different from the previous one, yet all were bursting with a variety of colors, flavors, and textures. If you’re celebrating a special occasion in DC, I’d definitely recommend trying EGR.

Pros: Variety, Great flavors

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!

Wow! Just wow. I do not have the words to adequately praise this place.
Eating here was a mind-blowing experience. It was not a meal, it was a journey. I never believed all those bs comments on food shows about a dish transporting you back in time to a memory or a specific moment until I ate at Elizabeth's. The chef is a true master--a culinary genius--who manages to create such a depth and elegance of flavor that it leaves you reeling. Every single course was a delight and a surprise. The flavor combinations were astounding and nothing that I could even begin to describe with words. I especially loved the tiramisu. The first vegan tiramisu, raw or otherwise, I have been able to honestly call delicious. The flavor and texture of the cake were spectacular. You initially got a bitterness from the dark chocolate, but it instantly transformed into this rich depth of cacao and cream, and the rest is beyond words. So, so incredible. Definitely worth the price and the wait.
A must for anyone in DC. I'm living here for two months and I will certainly be returning at least once. Such a magical experience. Best restaurant I've ever been to, and the fact that it also happens to be not just vegan, but raw vegan, makes it all the more astounding and meritorious.

Pros: Mind-blowing food, Beautiful ambiance, Great staff

Raw and healthy

Finally, a raw food restaurant where the food is NOT laden with coconut oil (or similar). I had given up on raw food establishments because I need to eat a very low fat diet for health reasons, but after reviewing the menu online, decided to give Elizabeth’s a try. My open-mindedness was well rewarded.
The space is elegant and the service excellent.

And the food! Creative, tasty, top-notch presentation. I did not have the wine tasting, but did have a glass, and it was excellent.

This is an upscale, expensive eatery; however, not out of line with similar restaurants. The quite, unhurried, dining experience (in addition to the excellent quality food) make splurge a great value.

Pros: 100% plant based, Excellent food, Excellent overall dining experience

Delicious food

We had a wonderful experience, all of the food was delicious and the wine paired with the food complimented the food beautifully. Each course is very small but we were definitely full by the end. It's a lovely restaurant to go to for special occasions.

Great vegetarian & vegan food

Great vegetarian & vegan food. I could not even tell the food was raw. Reservations are hard to come by as you can only dine there several days a month. The food is very creative & tasty.

Pros: tasting menu, reasonable price for a tasting menu, great vegetarian & vegan options

Cons: limiting reservation availability

Keep striving for excellence!

I'd been reading for at least a couple years that Elizabeth's Gone Raw in Washington DC was on the US national 'bucket list' of best vegan restaurants - so I picked this relatively pricey place for a special birthday dinner splurge this year.

I loved many things about the restaurant. Great decor and attentive service for sure. On our prix fixe menu for this midsummer dinner, the cleverly named 'beet tartare' amuse was a spoon of deliciousness. Also great were the fennel soup; path valley's garden appetizer of academia mozzarella, peas, tomatoes, hazelnut crumble and dill creme; intermezzo of strawberry champagne sorbet; and dessert of vegan tiramisu.

Like other reviewers, I was somewhat disappointed by the main entree - rosemary corncakes whose sweet flavors seemed to clash with more than complement the basil sphere and sauces and oils with which they were served.

My biggest disappointment was that we couldn't get an answer regarding which of the many items on their wine list were vegan. Our server didn't know and referred us to the sommelier, who also didn't know. Surprising for an all-vegan fine dining establishment.

Pros: Decor, Attentive service, Most dishes excellent

Cons: Main entree just ok, Staff don't know which wines are vegan, Pricey
