Gorgeous restaurant and delicious food! - Edit
My friends and I had an excellent time dining here. I absolutely recommend it!
Read moreThe restaurant itself was clean and beautiful. Lots of very pleasing wood tones, and the music was kept quiet enough that it wasn't grating. This is definitely a good place to actually have a conversation.
The food was delicious all around. I had the Roasted Eggplant and Black Garlic bowl which was PERFECTION - it came out to the table hot and crackling and was super flavorful. Though do be warned it is a little heavy. I also sampled the Vegan Prawn Curry. Also delicious, however it uses standard vegan prawns that don't have much flavor. All of my friends said their entrees were great as well.
The appetizers weren't quite as good, but still worth getting. The Coconut Rice Cakes were quite heavy/oily, and I felt they didn't have too much flavor to balance it out. The Monsoon Roll was a good healthy option but I felt that it too was a little plain. The one exception though was the Hing's Wings, which were absolutely phenomenal. Definitely would get them again.
The restaurant staff were also kind enough to bring us a free dessert. I suspect it was because closing time was fast approaching and they wouldn't be able to sell it, but it was still a lovely gesture that made a perfect end to the meal :)
Also, a note about this restaurant's vegan status - no meat is served here. There is exactly one item on the menu that is vegetarian due to the inclusion of egg, and based on the photos it could easily be made vegan. My personal suspicion is that this restaurant doesn't want to be listed as a vegan restaurant for financial reasons, which is disappointing but understandable.
Pros: Delicious, thoughtfully presented food, Beautiful restaurant, Quiet restaurant
Cons: One vegetarian item on the menu

Tasty - Edit
They have literally one vegetarian dish (cringefail) and the rest is vegan (positive). This could quite possibly be the best Vietnamese food I've ever had; I had the sweet and spicy filets. My group of 8 people was constantly remarking on how good everything was. I was inspired to write a review, that's how good it was.
Read moreEdit: They also gave us free desert that was super good: vegan coconut jellies. Awesome experience.

Best Eggplant Dish! - Edit
This Vietnamese restaurant has it all, great and fast service, nice decoration, and of course delicious food. I HIGHLY recommend the eggplant and black garlic dish, roasted to the perfection, they bring it in a dish while it’s still crackling, it was one of the best food I’ve had, if you think you don’t like eggplants this dish will make you change your mind! I also recommend the pho which my girlfriend had and really enjoyed.

Wasn’t sure it was for me, but I loved it! - Edit
This is my not usual type of cuisine, but I came here with friends and I was blown away! From my spring rolls to the pomelo salad to the crystal dumplings it was all delicious! The little bits of spice here and there were perfect, warm without hurting my mouth. I will definitely come back.

Lemon Grass Tofu & Salad Rolls - Edit
My friend and I ate here and shared a few dishes. Everything was so good, that we planned to go back again the next week to try more.
Read moreWe had the salad roll plate, which was bright and delicious, it was loaded with fresh vegetables, herbs and yummy fillings. The banh xeo crepe, with imitation shrimp and "ish" sauce was to die for. We also had the truffle dumplings and the crystal dumplings, with wood ear mushrooms. Again, both were great. The table next to us had the coconut rice cakes and kept raving about them. We decided that we are definitely going to get them next time.
The servers are very polite and accommodating. The room is super cute and cozy, it has a rustic feel and the walls are adorned with family photos.

One of our best meals ever! - Edit
We stopped here for dinner on our way through Vancouver. We had one of the best meals EVER! We sat at the bar so we got to eat watch the two chefs cook. We started with the truffle dumplings. I had the spicy peanut satay noodles. My husband had the southern style dry noodles (that soft boiled marinated egg!) and my son had the vegan pho. We loved all of the dishes so much. Fresh and flavorful. 😋 If you are a vegan or vegetarian, this is your spot, and for meat eaters, I promise you won’t miss the meat! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. If I could give it 6 stars, I would 👏

All vegetarian restaurant with lots of yummy options.
Read moreWe tried vegan pho, sweet and spicy bowl, dumplings and rolls that I forget the name of.
Everything was really yummy, but I’ve definitely had better vegan pho elsewhere. Dumplings were the highlight, I could have eaten 20 of them!

Best Vietnamese Cuisine periot - Edit
Vegan Vietnamese with culinary creativity. Everything at Do Chay is a yes. Especially the coconut cakes! Try the monsoon rolls and both rice entrees we ordered were shareable and YUM. I got the “prawn” rice dish and honestly the meat replacement wasn’t even the best thing in the dish. They should have called it “pillow soft Japanese eggplant” dish because that eggplant is unforgettable. The ginseng spritzer is outstanding!

Yes! It’s great pho! - Edit
Ordered through door dash because of the great reviews there and it didn’t disappoint. We both had vegan pho soup (added soy protein and xtra veg), broth is delicious and it was just stuffed with rice noodles, great veggies and bean sprout/basil toppings. Awesome!!

Small cozy trendy Asian restaurant - Edit
Vegetarian restaurant with well-identified vegan options. Not a tons of them, but enough to have a nice date night there. The restaurant was buzzing even though it was a Tuesday night and it definitely had a trendy vibe. My takeout order was ready in 10 minutes and it was still hot after my 20 minutes drive back to the hotel. I had the Vegan Pho which was delicious, served in a “traditional way” if you don’t take into account the avocado. I also took the papaya salad to have something to eat for lunch the next day. It was definitely refreshing and the vegan jerky on it was very tasty.

Apps were 5 stars, entrees were 4. We started with dumplings and rice cakes. I wanted the sesame flat bread but it came with mayo and no substitute, so that was a little disappointing. However, the apps we got were handmade and absolutely delicious. For the entrees we had desert island noodles and satay noodles. These were both good but not great for the $.

We got the Spring Rolls, Monsoon Rolls, Uncle Hing’s Wings, Satay Noodles, Desert Island Noodles, and Southern Style Dry Noodles. All the appies were great and all enjoyed our individual meals. They offered Chili oil after the first couple bites and that really added a ton of flavour.

Great plates and awesome sauces :) - Edit
We started with the spring rolls, then had the sweet and sour and tofu lemongrass rice plates.
Read moreThe spring rolls were delicious but the sauce made it the better! Our super nice server told us to use the lettuce given and wrap it around the roll to eat. Really Interesting idea…tried it….and loved it 10/10
The sweet and sour plate had ultra crispy sweet broccoli and veg. The tofu lemongrass plate was warm and you could smell the lemongrass off the dish.
Both lacked a bit of flavour besides sweetness and hotness 🥵. But they have sauces, that are really flavourful.
Would like to go back and try the pho!
