A real gem! - Edit
I don’t usually do reviews but had to add one for this amazing restaurant. The food (all vegan, very nearly all gluten free) was absolutely delicious. The flax seed drink was a revelation! But what topped it off was the fantastic hospitality of the owner. If you’re in Wakefield or nearby make sure you visit.

A unique, enjoyable and comfortable dining experience. - Edit
Exploring the outskirts of Leeds led me to discover the gem that is Corarima, a gluten-free haven in Wakefield. As someone currently navigating a gluten-free journey, stumbling upon this Abyssinian vegan/gluten free restaurant was a true delight.
Read moreOpting for the combination platter for two was a journey through a sensory layer cake - a symphony of tastes and smells expertly presented. We embraced the experience, relishing the deliciousness with our hands, a practice met with the owner's delighted approval.
The host, a charming and attentive soul, took us on a culinary tour, passionately detailing each dish. The decor added to the warmth, creating a homely ambiance that made this dining experience extraordinary.
In the realm of UK dining, Corarima has secured its spot among our favorites. It's more than a restaurant; it's a rare and complete experience, a testament to the charm and authenticity of Abyssinian cuisine.
Pros: Delicious food, Friendly host, Comfortable room
Cons: A bit on the pricier side

A must visit!!! - Edit
Wow, what a find! Absolutely stunning food with the friendliest service. I previously only had Ethiopian food before in Brussels, which I really enjoyed, but rarely see available in the North of England. The food at Corarima blew my previous experiences out of the water... absolutely DIVINE. I will 100% be returning, I want to try everything on the menu! Lovely lovely people too, I felt so welcome and relaxed to dine there.

Vegan cuisine with a difference - Edit
Had a simply amazing meal here. We shared the mixed platter and every dish was a treat. Really encouraged by how well Abyssinian cuisine adapts to being plant based. A multitude of flavours, all of them delicious!

A different dining experience with a friendly host and great food. - Edit
In the UK and especially certain areas it is very hard to have a new or unique dining experience. Corarima ticked both boxes for us. The chap at the front of house, who also owns the restaurant, is very welcoming and friendly. Certainly makes you feel at home. The menu can seem overwhelming if you haven’t eaten here before so we went for the combination meal for four. This is a mixture, not literally, of mains and the pulse dishes with the Injera pancake. It came with about eight different dishes all on an Injera. As someone who eats a lot I wasn’t sure if it was going to be enough. But rest assured it was. Great flavours and tastes and not too spicy at all. We had had some starters and the hummus was outstanding but be warned there is a version of an Injera which has quite a kick to it. Must also mention how clean everything looks. Top marks all round.

Utterly amazing - Edit
A fantastic evening at Corarima. Food and service were exceptional. The owner was so welcoming and attentive, and was so informative about the food and cuisine. When the food arrived it did not disappoint. We had the sambusa and chickpea bread and homous for a starter - delicious! For mains we had the combination dish for two, which was a perfect way to try lots of the different pulse and vegetables dishes.

Friendly staff, culinary experience! - Edit
I was thrilled to find an all vegan place to eat in Wakefield and although I arrived slightly earlier than the official opening time, they opened the doors and welcomed me in.
Read moreI wasn’t familiar with the cuisine so I didn’t know what to order but the friendly staff (I believe the owner) told me what to order and how to eat it and then brought me a mini dessert to try when I’d finished! He also explained the ingredients of the bread and how it is a healthier alternative to the bread we get here. I had the whole restaurant to myself so personal service 👌🏻
The interior feels super clean and fresh and you can see the ingredients (that they actually use to make your meal) on display in the restaurant.
The food tasted good, the presentation was unique, like I hadn’t experienced before. The only thing I struggled with was mopping up the stew with the bread - it just wasn’t working for me, it was a bit soft for scooping.
Pros: Nice atmosphere , Friendly & attentive staff, New culinary experience, well presented

Beautiful food - Edit
Made the trip to Wakefield to try this fully vegan Ethiopian cafe. I love Ethiopian food so had been excited to go. The space was very lovely, and the host incredibly attentive. We had the sharing plate for two which was good, if not a little on the expensive side at £40. Still, warming food that made me happy and full.

Beautiful food, all vegetarian/ vegan and mostly gluten free. Can recommend the sharing platter, it is vegan and gluten free and a great way to taste a number of the dishes. Plus you end up with Abyssinian Sushi at the end - roll the injera base and enjoy the mix of spices and flavours at the end of the meal.

I’ve been to this place a couple of times and don’t know how I haven’t written a review yet! The restaurant is so warm, friendly and cosy. It’s like dining with friends when you’re there, the owners welcome and hospitality are second to none. The food is fresh, flavourful and deliciously fragrant. Beautifully presented in a traditional way. When in Wakefield this is definitely the place to go.

After seeing all the reviews on happycow we decided to travel and give Corarima a go and we are so happy we did!!
Read moreFirst of all, the hospitality from the staff was first class - super helpful, kind and funny.
Second, the interior is stunning!! The lighting and decoration makes it so homely.
Finally, the food!!
We got a starter of wedges with sunflower sauce, the flavour on the wedges were similar to nandos peri chips but these were so much better. We then got the share platter for 2 which had a wide range of different curries and other goodies which are perfectly paired with the bread.
Would deffo go again!!

Excellent - Edit
Excellent restaurant, everything is vegan by virtue of what it is, not because they are making it vegan, the vast majority is also gluten free as well so a great option for everyone. Some things can be a little spicy but still totally delicious and the owner is lovely with great hospitality. He explains all the dishes well to help you choose if you’re not familiar with the cuisine. All tips are sent to help children in Ethiopia. The telba flax seed drink is absolutely delicious and I will be attempting to recreate at home!
