Loved it

This is one of the best vegan restaurants I’ve been to in some time. We really loved everything we had: the quality of the cooking and seasoning was uniformly high. Based on our experience I’d recommend going on your first night in Prague, just so you can go back (unfortunately, we went on our last night so no more chances…). Had the fried polenta, the fasoldo soup, the kale oyster mushroom salad, the burger and a couple of deserts. Would order any of them again, but would love to try other stuff, too. Just great.

Creative and delicious menu

It was hard to choose what to order because the dishes are quite unique in their own ways.

The polenta croquettes are so yummy and the cucumbers (I could eat those all day!).

The lions mane steak was a masterpiece, and the gravy was SUPER rich. The oyster mushroom strips w/ kale salad had so many different flavors, each so very delicious.

I wish the lemonades were slightly less bitter and had more flavor like the pineapple could've used a bit more pineapple, same with the Brazilian (more coconut would've been nice). Otherwise they were unique and tasty drinks.

I want to give a very special mention to the mustard dressing and the cucumbers because their flavors are truly delicious and leave you only wanting to order more.

The staff was very friendly and even gave us a discount on the pastries that would've been left at the end of the evening.

Pros: Inventive menu, Friendly staff, Cute atmosphere

Good ideas but execution can be a bit hit and miss

May 25 - I finally tried something off the main menu. I got the lion's mane mushroom steak and it was a very tasty dish. The mushroom was well cooked and even 'bled' when you cut into it. The mustard and green sauce on top of the steak worked well. The beurre blanc sauce was tasty and the potatoes and asparagus were both tasty and well cooked. I did have some more specials too, the vine leaves starter was great but the rhubarb tart didn't really work for me. The iced caramel miso latte was a delicious drink. Overall, I think my title still stands.

***

Went for a Japanese special menu on a weekend and it was very good. The oyster mushroom kaarage were great, the batter was crisp and well seasoned. The main was a ramen that had a great broth but the toppings were a bit dull. There was a matcha soft serve for dessert which was pleasant without being too exciting, I felt a bit more sweetness would have been good.

***
I've been going to Chutnej since they first opened as a pizza and burger place and love how they have evolved over the years. The krafin bakery is great and was a desperately needed addition to the Prague vegan scene. I like that they're trying to do more upmarket vegan food when no one else in Prague really is whilst still keeping the pizzas going via Hot Plants.

I've been to the most recent iteration of the restaurant a couple of times for weekend brunch and had specials. I haven't tried the new regular menu yet. The first time they had a mushroom skewer/kebab thing on with salad, flatbread and hummus. This was very good on the whole, especially when you got some charred bits on the mushrooms. My partner and I also got a plate of pancakes to share which were good. I went for brunch again this weekend and was disappointed. They had a goulash on and the sauce didn't pack a good flavour and the meat pieces were really small. I also got an apple strudel for dessert. This came out stone cold and the filling just felt like eating a raw cake. The pastry was soggy and it was served with a bit of warm custard. I don't understand why the custard was warm but the strudel was not. It was so bad that I didn't even finish it. The Brazilian lemonade was very tasty at least.

Service wasn't great today either, it was difficult to get anyone's attention and we had to go to the counter to order dessert.

I'll go back and definitely try more things and hope that they are more hit than miss.

World class vegan food

I'm not going to mince words here: The food at Chutnej is absolutely world class. I've been to some of the most celebrated (and expensive) vegan restaurants in Europe, with or without Michelin stars. I would say that several of the dishes we had at Chutnej are in the same league, and surpasses some of it. Even though prices aren't even close to what you will have to pay at some of the fancier vegan restaurants elsewhere.

We were two people, and had two starters, two main dishes, and a Krafin ("croissant muffin") for dessert. The Krafin is made by another bakery, though, but strongly recommended.

Some of what we had was just mind blowing. The chefs at Chutnej have mastered things which can be difficult to achieve in cuisine. There were interesting textures - crunchiness and crispiness, occasionally chewiness, together with smooth sauces and dips. This kind of "textural contrast" not always easy to get right without meat and cheese. But what really struck me was how they were able to bring out and balance flavor. Lots of umami, for sure, but also just the right balance of sweetness and acidity and occasional hints of spiciness. I ate slowly, and just enjoyed how all the tastes came together.

Specifically on dishes: The lion's mane steak was sensational. Sensational! Probably one of the best vegan dishes I've ever tried .

The fried polenta sticks, as well, were superb. Best polenta dish I've tried for sure. And the marinated and baked carrots together with white bean hummus was also excellent. I had never imagined that marinated and baked carrots could taste this good.

The only thing which wasn't perfect were the fried oyster mushroom strips. They were slightly over-fried, meaning that the mushroom core "drowned" in the fried fattiness on the outside. I told the staff and they didn't get defensive, but noted it and told the kitchen. Also a plus in my book. This was in any case a minor gripe in an otherwise perfect meal.

Furthermore: The interiors are lovely, and the staff are super friendly. Whatever you do in Prague, do yourself a favor and visit this place.

Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Staff

Cons: Nothing

Obowiązkowa pozycja do odwiedzenia na mapie Pragi. Bardzo sympatyczna obsługa, przepyszna kawa i deserki. W szczególności smakowało mi: sałatka, zupa miso, krafin hazelnut, Monte, cinnamon roll. Super klimat z roślinami.

Pros: Kawa, Jedzenie, Obsługa

Cons: Muzyka za głośna na mój gust

Must visit

We only came for a pastry but decided to stay for breakfast and I’ve got to say one of the best places we’ve eaten our whole trip. The iced caramel latte was the best I’ve ever had. I had the pancakes and my partner had the omelette and we gave them both a 10/10! Perfectly balanced food! We’d love to come again! They also serve vegan soft serve

Pros: Perfectly balanced food, Perfect coffee, Staff and interior look

Loved this place. Great service, great food and relaxed vibes.
We had the lions mane steak and Mungo omelette. Oh and the soup to start, a lentil based one. See pics.
We took away a couple of cakes too which were soooo delicious. Don’t miss a chance to visit. One of the best places we’ve eaten at in Prague.

Fantastic Spot - must visit

Had a lovely evening at Chutnej with some very tasty gnocchi for main and chocolate/hazelnut dessert - staff were friendly and welcoming and the design of the restaurant was beautiful. The only down side was there was a delicious sounding dish that they had run out of (but realistically you snooze you lose so I can't hold that against them)

Pros: Great food, Lovely atmosphere, Friendly staff

Cons: Ran out of a tasty sounding pasta dish

5 dishes review: Tofu Satay with mango salad

The best meal was Tofu satay with mango salad, but only weeked special.
I visited restaurant from 2022 regulary. But the best option was just weekedn special menu unfortunately. All food is fancy, good looking, well served, interesring taste, also not cheap thrill. The best limonade is Brazilian, with coconut and lime or Homade Kombucha, or Chai late. From dishes I prefer with mushrooms: Mushroom burger, mushroom strips, mushroom stake-korálovec, or sweet pancakes. They offer also vegan pastries from Krafin. Wort visit.

Ok

Very nice and cosy location if you're sitting on the entrance floor. The dish I had was ok but I wish it was more flavourful. When the bread is better than the omelette, then it's a bit disappointing.

Tasty and creative!

I can highly recommend Chutnej. It’s a restaurant like no other in Prague. Their creative approach to food is simply amazing, and the cozy atmosphere is just a bonus. If you’re ever in Prague, this is a must-visit.

I recommend all of the main dishes, but the Slovak gnocchi are my personal favorite.

When it comes to desserts, Chutnej has truly won my heart. They serve my all-time favorite dessert, “špička”—a vegan version of the traditional Czech treat, beautifully presented in a glass. If you’re a chocolate lover like me, this is an experience you can’t miss. Unfortunately, it’s only available on the special menu, which isn’t offered every day. Luckily, it appears quite often, so it’s worth trying your luck.

The excellent service is just the cherry on top.
