My new favorite Vegan in BC - Edit
I don't have a picture. Because we ate it all really fast. It was great for our whole family. The chickpea fries -- wonderful! It's a different feeling to eat chickpea fries than it is to indulge in potato fries.
Read moreWe ordered three main dishes, and each ate a third before passing the plate to the next adult in our family.
Kasum (cauliflower) - SO GOOD! I don't usually like cooked mushrooms, but these had a great flavor and texture.
Hatzil Baladi (eggplant) - so colorful! It's a delightful of contrasting flavors that work so well.
Chickebab is probably my favorite. I am tempted to get it again right away, but I try to order all of the things on the menu before I get stuck in an "order-the-same-thing-all the-time-rut." It sat on a bed of grilled onions, and it was fantastic.
We ordered a side of Falafel - it is the best falafel I've ever had. Bright green on the inside -- the color of green that looks like health.
I'm excited to go to Chickpea Restaurant again.
5 Stars for their handling of COVID-19 Regulations for safety.
Pros: Excellent Food, Friendly Staff, Great value

Fantastic brunch & great vibes - Edit
Went here on the weekend for brunch and had a great time! Love the atmosphere. We got seated pretty quickly but there was just two of us so we sat at the bar which was fine. Food was delicious! I had the potato pancake eggs benedict which was surprisingly filling.

Have eaten here multiple times and it’s always a great experience. The portion sizes they give always give us a left over meal as well.

Great food, generous portions! - Edit
This place was recommended to me by an Israeli friend. I ordered Shawarma Platter, and Fairy Baklava as a dessert. Both were great and the portions were so huge that I was struggling to finish them! The restaurant is cosy and nicely decorated. One of the waitresses was great, the other one, unfortunately, did not seem very friendly. She showed her disappointment when I did not order any drinks, then asked me if I wanted my bill, without even giving me the chance to order a dessert. I still definitely recommend the place. Hope to try their breakfast menu one day.

Good vegan food! - Edit
This place is OK if you're looking for junkier vegan food. The hummus I tried had the processed garlic in it that you by pre minced in jars, which I wasn't a fan of. Burger was good though but verrrry heavy. I'd try it again next time I'm in Vancouver.

Great food in a decent location, usually ordered takeout though. The chickpea fries were amazing and the hummus platters were super huge and filling, as well as delicious.

Great catering experience - Edit
I ordered their catering option for a party. It was super easy to figure out how much I needed and for the amount of people I was feeding, super affordable. The spread was a hit as well!

Not Allergen-Concious - Edit
I really wanted to love this place since I loved the concept, but was really unhappy that I was served food with sesame seeds on it TWICE when I told the server I was allergic. I ended having a bite before I realized the second time and had to run out to the car to take my allergy medicine. Luckily my allergy is not super severe, but this was a real disappointment.

Can't say enough good things, order Eggs Benechick! - Edit
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The IPA was delicious (and they let us sample the IPAs before ordering), and the run drink was great.
Read moreI've rarely seen a vegan version of eggs Benedict, but they have it here and it's better than the 'real thing'. You MUST order it if you go here, it's out of this world.
Overall it's a really cozy restaurant with friendly staff and they have a billion dishes with falafel and hummus, so how could you possibly complain?
Finally, their tap list was pretty legit, it was pleasantly surprising. Go to this restaurant and then walk it off through Queen Elizabeth Park. It's a great way to spend the day!
Pros: Vegan eggs benedict, Good IPA, Cozy
Cons: NONE!

Fave restaurant - Edit
I am in love with this restaurant. IN LOVE MARRY ME. The shashuka platter and the cauliflower of life are on FIRE. I had my birthday here in February and not only were they very accommodating to the larger group, they were incredibly helpful with suggestions to some of my non vegan friends.

an honest review - Edit
*edit August 2019* they have now added brunch and it’s the BEST!
Read moreThe food here is pretty delicious. I’ve tried the shnizle falafel, the cauliflower, the chickpea fries, and finally the shawarma hummus plate. The hummus plate was impressive but I wish it had more naan, (idk if I was supposed to ask for more?) because near the end it all kinda mushed together. This was my third time at the restaurant location! The first time was quick and nice, the second times me and my friends had to wait around 40 minutes for our food. It does take awhile, but the food is super delicious. I’ll be visiting again.

Hummus paradise - Edit
For a chickpea and hummus lover like me, this was paradise! Pretty everything is hummus-based. Their hummus is of course one of the best ones I have ever tried, but so was also their sausages. Highly recommended.

They have an interesting take on middle eastern food. While the falafel isn’t a traditional recipe for true falafel or tameya fans one person at the table I was with enjoyed them and was served a large portion.

Hit and miss - Edit
Repeat visits have been less satisfying than first experiences. Some excellent brunch options (Malawach! Shaksuka!) .... But a place named Chickpea needs to come up with falafels that aren't so dry and forgettable.

Some of the best vegan food in the city - Edit
Chickpea is awesome, you should go. Fresh and tasty Mediterranean food with great options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had the food when it first opened and wasn't blown away with the service or the food itself but things have really improved and now it's one of my favourite spots in the city. The chickpea fries are delicious. My favourite is typically the chickcheese sandwich for breakfast and the tempeh shawarma for dinner.

Just okay - Edit
Took my non-vegan family here because the food looked amazing in photographs and I have heard great reviews from friends.
Read moreWas so stoked to come to Chickpea but unfortunately the food was disappointing. The hummus was bland and covered in oil, the Cauliflower of Life was barely roasted (tasted like it was just boiled), and the eggplant dish and the battered tofu were both lacking seasoning and were underwhelming.
The only good part was the chickpea fries, specifically with the shawarma and kasum toppings. Wouldn’t recommend coming here except to get those fries or to try their all-day breakfast menu (which maybe I’ll come back for one day)
Pros: Fully vegan, Good location (right next to Meet on Main)
Cons: Bland food (especially the hummus), Overpriced
