Greasy food, poor quality

I have tried a lot of things from Chickpea both the restaurant and the food truck over the years and have come to the conclusion that it is all low quality, inconsistent, and very oily. Their hummus and falafel are terrible.

Some of the worst things they serve are the chickpea fries that taste like they were deep fried yesterday, left to sit out overnight and then refried when you order them, then covered in sickening sweet sauce. Some of them were completely hollow inside like eating.

Industry friends tell me they also have a lot of health code issues in the back of the house, which isn’t surprising when you consider how bad the food is.

A few years back, the Israeli owner went out of his way to make videos promoting his relationship with a Palestinian friend in Vancouver, which is great but surprisingly, since the Gaza genocide has begun, their social media has been completely silent about the atrocities on civilians, children and animals committed by Israeli in the name of revenge. I personally expect ethical vegans to be more than single issue and have to draw the line at supporting this place.

They also recently started serving the Israeli own Yo Egg as well, the owner of that company being outspoken Islamophobe, pro-war and pro-unaliving Palestinian people and animals.

9 months into this thing I would expect someone who was comfortable making PR content promoting peace in 2019 with Palestinians during less controversial times would have said something to say publicly by now but the silence says everything. In the same way eating animals is unconscionable for me now, so would supporting war.

Think about how you spend your money and what it gets used for.

Cons: Zionist biz, Greasy food, Health infractions
