Incredibly tasty vegan options - Edit
Absolutely fantastic menu and everything I ate was spectacular. I had the vegan chicken malai tikka, rice, roti and Amritsari chole. Perfectly spiced, great depth of flavour. Vegan chicken was delicious and juicy.

Boom boom acka-lacka Chakh Dhoom - Edit
A very rare trip to the rather quaint and upmarket Jesmond suburb of Newcastle where you could fool yourself into thinking you were somewhere like Primrose Hill in London rather than the North East of England. The plethora of Newcastle United shirts gives it away and you realise there’s a Samuel Fender concert taking place a few miles away. Bar code or QR code required for admission. Anyway, the vegan choice at Chakh Doom is excellent. We shared okra fries, tadka dal, amritsari chole, a portion of rice and a lovely tandoori roti bread. Everything we had was tasty, of a high standard and fair value at £42 including a couple of half’s of Cobra - walk the dinosaur!

Dhoom Dhoom Chakh the Room - Edit
Very stylish and welcoming Indian restaurant, with an excellent selection of clearly marked vegan options.
Read moreWe shared the onion bhaji, double tadka daal and Kalonji Baingan dishes, with steamed rice and a tandoori roti. All our dishes were delicious, with such depth in flavour and spicing. Great rice and roti too.

Lovely decor and very professional staff. The tempeh starter was excellent and I really enjoyed the dhal. Drinks were good too.

Lively restaurant - Edit
Busy restaurant offering Indian street food, dishes arrive when they’re ready. Lots of vegetarian dishes clearly marked but it’s trickier when it comes to vegan - you need to ask staff or cross reference with the allergy menu. Three small dishes are vegan: onion bhaji, vegan achari tempeh and vegetable Manchurian (delicious) and five curries: adraki, aloo, baingan, tadka dal, chole. Careful of dessert - the cheesecake is labelled vegan but they changed the recipe since it was printed but it no longer is.
