We ordered the special plates, the takoyaki and the soy meat cutlet, and everything was delicious. Since they’re a small shoppe it took a while to order but once we did the food came out quickly

Cozy spot for a lovely meal! - Edit
Visited on September 20, 2023. A cozy spot that I really enjoyed in Kyoto was Cafe Ren. It was further away from the main tourist attractions but totally worth the trek. They had some unique dishes, including options like vegan takoyaki (unfortunately sold out, so I didn’t get to try it). The vegan unagi was exceptional. I rarely encounter vegan unagi, but Cafe Ren nailed it!

Small place off the main road. The lady working is super nice. I got the kaarage (it said it was spicy but I didn’t find it particularly spicy) and the takoyaki. Both were good, but if I went back I would probably try other things.

Best vegan food I had in Kyoto - Edit
ENG: I loved this little fully vegan restaurant, the staff is great and the food is delicious! I had boiled Gyoza and Takoyaki and they were great. There is also a little shop with vegan food. They accept credit cards ( Used Mastercard, but had signs for AMEX too ) but only in card form so no apple pay. The opening time has also changed to 11:30 instead of 11:00
Read moreNL: geweldig vegan restaurant in Kyoto! Kan het heel erg aanbevelen. Ik had de Takoyaki en Gekookte Gyoza. Ze hebben ook een kleine shop met vegan eten dus ideaal als je in Kyoto bent. Accepteren Visa kaarten en ook amex van wat ik zag op een bord. Openingstijd is vanaf 11:30.

We had the gyoza plate which came with a couple sides like a small salad, soup and pickles. In addition we ordered the soy nuggets. The food was quite alright - especially for the price (1200yen for the gyoza plate). The staff was really friendly and the overall atmosphere was also good. We also liked that they gave us free tea. So if you are in the area, it's worth a visit :)

I went to this restaurant with a non- vegan Friend. We ordered Katsu don,Takoyaki, Chinese chimaki. Every food was delicious and even my friend enjoyed it a lot. We loved Chinese chimaki even though it took a lot of time for them to prepare. It was worth it.

You can find options usually difficult to find: vegan takoyakis, katsu, dumplings, gyozas, ice cream... Everything looked handmade and made with love - it was amazing! If I visit Kyoto again, I will repeat for sure.

I like the spirit of this place. Ate here twice as it is conveniently located and they have many options. The food was served fast and is very tasty. I tried the karaage bowl, rice meal set and dumpling hot pot and would say I prefer the first two.

Had a great lunch here, food came out quickly too (~15mins). We got the set lunch special which was a nice variety of food, all very fresh and tasty. Served with a cold tea, great for a hot day. Lovely staff, english menu and accepts credit cards. Would recommend if you're in the area.

I got here pretty late for lunch, around 5-6pm. The place is lovely, they sell some vegan products like instant noodles that they are not that easy to find here. Wanted to try the unagirice for my first time. I was surprised by the size of the soy meat Katsu, you don't find "side" dishes this big in vegan places and it was really good. Lovely staff. Really wanted to try vegan takoyaki but they only have it in autumn.

Curry Hotpot and Yummy food - Edit
The owner is very friendly and accommodating. They were initially closed as the restaurant was reserved for a tour group. We were delighted when she still welcomed us in.
Read moreThere was quite a great selection of food. My wife and I got the curry hotpot, vegan tako, katsu and the soymeat rice bowl.
At the end of the dinner, we chatted with the owner and she even gave us a complimentary dessert.
