Best meal I had in SLC - Edit
Ate at like 4 vegan places this week while in town and this is the only one that even comes to the quality I'm used to. Their sourdough is great with a crunch. Had the buffalo chicken straight up, perfect flavor and portion size. This is probably the only restaurant I will return to on future trips to SLC.

I love this place. Honestly the nest sandwiches I have ever had before. My favorites are the buffalo and the pesto. Come here! And you get a free cookie if you are a UARC (Utah Animal Rights Coalition) member

It has potential to be good. - Edit
The flavors are great, alon with the prices- but it's all soy curls and white breads.
Read moreNot many options, hard to order, hard to park for pickup. What's annoying is, whenever we've tried to call, they never answer the phone, yet I've stood at the window for a while, while employees are just looking at me... while on the phone.
I think if they worked on customer service, the ordering process (have experienced issues with site, but can't get a call answered), and adding some options for proteins and breads, it'd be great. Until then, I pass on this one.
Pros: Price
Cons: Lack of options, Customer service

Meh - Edit
Decidedly average. Sandwiches are decent, but like slightly below what you'd get at Jimmy John's or something. Us vegans need to up our standards of what's "excellent".

Pesto - Edit
It’s been awesome having vegan/plant based businesses to support. Buds is a great experience from the greeting you get at the window to the variety and great tasting sandwiches. I typically would not order a “faux meat”, but when they told me they make their own, I had to try. The chikun pesto was full of flavor and the chikun consistency and taste was really good. Definitely would order it again.

Loved the vegan menu, especially the buffalo sandwich. The sourdough bun was fabulous. Fresh with crispy crust. The cabbage slaw on the sandwich was perfect. Will definitely go again!

Absolutely delicious. I've already had two different sandwiches from here (the cheesesteak and the new Italian cold cut) and both have been phenomenal.

The best of the best! - Edit
Buds has to be my top choice for a solid vegan sandwich in Salt Lake City. Only open for takeout and mainly lunch hours but always a pleasant and efficient experience. The Banh Mi, Buffalo and pesto are my top 3, while all the menu items are a force to be reckoned with. The prices are probably the most affordable for vegan in salt lake. The staff is so friendly and rarely make a mistake I have not had one bad experience. I’ll always be a buds customer and always will love unwrapping one of their sandwiches for lunch. Besides the main courses the lavender lemonade and chocolate zucchini cookies are a fantastic edition to your meal. Shoutout buds you guys rock!

The pictures submitted on here don’t look very promising in my opinion but thank god I tried it out anyway cause these things are stellar. The bread is fresh and the sandwiches are larger than they look.

Fav vegan food in Salt Lake - Edit
This is a bold title, but I stand by it. This is one of, if not my all-time, favorite local restaurants. The flavors are SO good, textures are on point, and portions are super filling! We have liked everything here, but especially the Cheesesteak, Buffalo, and Pesto. We also got “Chick’n” noodle soup from them once when sick and it hit the spot

literally so gooooood - Edit
this place is awesome. the hoagies are fresh and pretty filling. we had the cheesesteak and pesto and both were very good. fun place for omnis and veg alike. cookies are to die for - so chewy and gooey and melty and delicious. order ahead and it’s not too bad. patio was closed when we were there but you can eat in the shade of a tree out front or hop to a nearby park/city creek to chow down.

No Duds at Buds - Edit
The employee warned us there was about a half hour wait. I ordered the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich, which has house-made hummus, sprouts, cucumber, tomato, red onion, greens, peperoncini, and balsamic vinaigrette on a toasted sourdough hoagie. The patio seating was closed, so we sat on the grass. The sandwich was tasty and filling.

Even the Omni liked it!! :-) - Edit
Delicious and a great range of options for a small place. We went during covid, so there was only outdoor window service and picnic-seating on surrounding grassy areas, but still a great spot.

Fantastic Banh Mi sandwich - Edit
The bread was very fresh and tasty. They serve a spicy banh mi that’s one of the best I’ve ever had. The zucchini chocolate chip cookie and horchata cold brew were also excellent. It seems very popular so have some patience.

My mom and I split the cheesesteak and pesto chicken. They were both good, but I preferred the pesto. The person who helped me at the window was very sweet. Pro tip: order already online!
