Anniversary treat - Edit
After 2 years we finally made it here. Food was excellent. Yakatori are suspiciously delicious, Miso Aubergine was succulent, G and Ts were tasty. We enjoyed all our dishes and have our eye on “seabass” for our next visit - hopefully it won’t take another 2 years

Superb food - Edit
Three of us had lunch on a Saturday and had some exquisite food. Certainly not cheap, but the quality of every dish was outstanding. Be warned, most menu items are very spicy. Also, watch your step, the loos are virtually in darkness and I went into a cleaning cupboard by mistake! 😳

New favourite place! - Edit
I can’t fault it at all! The servers were friendly and immediately gave us water and house-made crispy chickpeas as we were seated. The vibe of the place was great and the staff all seemed happy and enthusiastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails and liked the reusable metal straws and cocktail sticks. Everything we ordered was brilliant but the standout dishes for me were the tempura cauliflower in Korean sauce and the bành mí slider. The bill came to around £70 (inc. 12.5% tip) for 2 cocktails + 6 dishes (the amount of food was perfect for the 2 of us and we definitely didn’t leave hungry!), which we thought was very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. I definitely plan to come back and I think Bonsai Plant Kitchen has taken top spot on the list of my favourite restaurants!

Fantastic! - Edit
It’s a quite small Restaurant with a nice ambiente. You can choose between a variety of dishes and everything comes as it‘s ready. The drinks were also really nice! They also have their own beer. Sadly I didn‘t took any photos because we were too busy and blown away by the food. 👌

Fantastic Food - Edit
Easily some of the best Asian cuisine me and my partner have ever had! The skewers in particular were the most realistic vegan meat ever, and the scorched rice was delicious (have never thought of ordering more rice untill now). On top of all this, the service was lovely and cocktails spectacular.
Read moreThe only downside is the price, but considering the whole experience, the price definitely justifies itself.
Pros: Plenty of variety , Super realistic vegan skewers
Cons: On the expensive side

The only place to go - Edit
There is nothing like Bonsai Plant Kitchen in Brighton. Incentive Asian cuisine cooked mostly on a Bincho. Food, drink, atmosphere all totally sublime. As for the staff, we go so often Arlo and Dom are now friends. We love them and love Bonsai Plant Kitchen. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

Punchy flavours! - Edit
Great Asian place! The fish was ridiculous, texture, flavour, batter, salad... My only reservation would be that after eating 8 plates the sweetness coming from all the sauces (ketjap Manis etc.) Is a bit overpowering. It'd ok if you had two small plates... I think it needs less sweetness and even more acidity in a for of pickles, vinegar or lime etc Still, the food was amazing!

SOOO good. Food and cocktails flavours were next level. There’s a specials board that changes up - Mongolian lamb skewers were super tasty, and the chai crème caramel was the best desert I think I’ve ever had. Only con is they are so popular you have to book well in advance for a table at the weekend but so worth it

My new favourite place! - Edit
OH MY. This is my new favourite. Everything looked and tasted fantastic, the staff are lovely and even going to the loo is an experience 🤩 The dish of the day for me (although it is very hard to choose) was the “sea bream” - perfect crispy tempura batter around a pea protein fish fillet wrapped in nori. Good grief, it is alchemy of the highest order. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Can I give it 6 stars?? - Edit
There are lots of great vegan restaurants these days, you go in, you have a nice meal in a nice atmosphere, and walk away satisfied. But every now and then, bam!! You go to a new place that gives you ratatouille moments, and you transcend to a very happy place, Bonsai Plant Kitchen is this place! I almost had a tear in my eye by the time the whole meal was done, de-f#£*ing-licious!!

Great! - Edit
We've eaten here twice and we're so lucky that's it's less than five minutes from where we live.
Read moreThe menu is delightful - be aware that food is served 'tapas style' so you won't get your starter, main etc but (at least at the moment) you will get wasabi chickpeas which are amazing!
We ate the special lamb skewers, chicken yakatori, rice and sea bream - the latter being the most incredible thing I've eaten for some time and my other half is a great vegan cook!
These guys are giving the more longstanding veggie/vegan places in Brighton a run for their money and blooming good luck to them!
Interesting cooking, nice people.
Pros: Location , Food, Service
Cons: Location won't work for tourists -if that matters!

The best food we’ve ever had! - Edit
This was up there with the best food we’ve ever tasted! Inventive menu and amazing atmosphere. The deep fried bao bun (yes bao bun!!) with butterscotch sauce and cream was truly incredible. And not to forget the yummy cocktails 🍸 the Ume Sour was honestly one to be remembered! All this considered it is a pricey experience - so more for special occasions but definitely worth it!
