Make sure they aren’t on a special menu! - Edit
Planned to come to Blue Mermaid Island Grill for all their great vegan options but they were on a limited menu! Staff was kind and helpful navigating but the only vegan option was an unlabeled veggie burger called the Rasta Burger. It was good but still pretty disappointing.

Loacl Favorite, Always Vegan Friendly - Edit
Since moving to Kittery, this place has become a community favorite. The space is so nice and open, so it never seems to get too loud or overwhelmingly crowded like most Seacoast restaurants. The owners, Scott and Karen, are big on giving to the community and making their customers feel like family. I've always been able to modify menu items to accommodate dietary issues. And staff is knowledgable and happy to answer questions. One day I got nothing but a side of their cornstarch crusted tofu - no weird looks, just happy to serve.
Read moreSunday brunch isn't anything special for vegans, but still fun, and the live music is enjoyable. The outside patio is great (weather permitting) and spacious. I'm not a drinker, but the drink menu looks robust, and they have a great relationship with the brewery next door.
Not sure if they still have the food truck, but it's cute and a great addition to a party. They'd probably happily cater a vegan gathering.
