Cold and not tasty - Edit
We both took from the buffet menu, wasn’t very clear how everything worked and the staff didn’t speak English well. A lot of fake meats which tasted pretty weird, some dishes were good but a few had really weird tastes. Besides this the food was all cold. As we took a little bit from everything we had to pay a lot for a small plate as we didn’t understand the concept.

blue boy never makes u blue - Edit
Please note, if you choose the buffet option, you get charged based on how many different items you choose, not per plate. Some reviewers have claimed they were overcharged for being tourists, I would say with 99.9% certainty that's not the case. They probably put little bits of many different dishes on their plates, hence the higher price. I have been going here for 12 years, have never been overcharged, and always treated kindly by the staff.
Read moreThe Blue boy is like a normal local malay cafeteria, with mostly pre-prepared dishes. The great thing here was being able to try many local specialities which had been off limits because of the meat factor. The Blue Boy replaces the meat with tofu or mock meat. We took a selection of fried snacks, such as stuffed green peppers and aubergines, wontons, and curry laksa. It was great to have a laksa and know that even the broth was vegetarian.
There is no menu, but the staff were very helpful.
Pros: Fully local style, Big range of treats, Helpful staff
Cons: Mostly pre-cooked

Mostly Chinese dishes - Edit
Last time I ordered from menu; mee soup and friend noodles. Both were tasty and total was 12RM. This time I choose 5 dishes from buffet with small rice, not the best but still good. It is not easy to understand how do they decide about pricing of plates. I paid 12RM for 5 different dishes. (But other customer paid 9RM even her plate was bigger than mine.) Still not expensive but with that price you can get more various amount of food from different places.

Restaurante limpio, barato, con comida sencilla, pero rica y sana. No hay muchas opciones, pero por el precio vale la pena.

Wonderful Service - Edit
I always make sure to drop in when in KL. I have always ordered from the the menu (back wall or look at the little stations) the Char Kuey Teow (ask for no egg for vegan) is fantastic as is the uncle who makes it.

Inexpensive Local Cuisine - Edit
Buffet style. All vegetarian, not all vegan. You help yourself and they eyeball your plate to come up with a price. Our food was really cheap. It was all good, not great. Food was not hot as these buffets usually are not. Good place to get a quick and inexpensive bit to eat. There are some other food stall options besides the buffet which we did not try.

Overcharged... - Edit
We chose the buffet so there is no price, you pay after choosing ingredients. We paid RM 30 for 2 plates.. And a Chinese girl just after us paid RM 7 for a similar meal... We were definitely overcharged cause we are tourists. I suggest you to choose a la carte cause there are prices. Staff don't speak English at all except to ask you to pay. So disappointed 😢

Seems alright but check the 'meat' ingredients - Edit
Came here at 17:00 like an hour before they closed. I was the only customer there aside from the rat that scurried away when I arrived. I ended up eating something like a malay version of pad thai. I also went into the store and checked out some of the frozen mock meats. Some of them are vegan but some of them contain egg (for seemingly no reason whatsoever). So vegans should check the package for all mock meals in cheap vegetarian places in Malaysia. The staff will tell you it doesn't have egg or milk but make them prove it by showing the package ingredients.

Great place - Edit
Great place. I found it was on the same block as it appears on Google Maps but not the right side, so do look around if you cant find it. Fried rice and kuey teow was great though definitely oily - 7.50 ringgit a la carte each. Drinks are good (I had the milo and also lime syrup). Staff/owner are really nice. Wish I knew about and tried the buffet!

Nice local veg place - Edit
I’ve been here twice now, first time I came here a bit later for lunch and the “buffee” was slim pickings and food was quite oily. Second time I came and ordered fried noodles and it was delicious. There are a lot of options here and when you get the food fresh it’s great! Good pricing too.

A bit difficult to find ( it’s in an Alley behind the coroner Inn ) and if your not used to eating in local places it might seem a bit scary , but this place is great . Delicious Buffet rice and mock meat dishes . Filled up my plate . I had some really tasty tofu here .

Friendly Vegetarian Open-Air Food Stalls - Edit
provide economic meals, side dishes, noodles, etc. I always have an economic meal, a bit like a buffet, you can choose a lot of different dishes. After choosing what you want, then go to the cashier, staffs will look at your plate and calculate for you. My meals are always under RM10, which is super cheap! The staff of "Blue Child Vegetarian" not understand English very well, using body language is more efficient 😉

Good cheap option - Edit
Tried most stuff here - didn’t really rate the buffet but most other dishes were good. Take a seat and they will come and take your order, it’s set up as lots of individual stalls but all run by the same group. Just ask for your dish to be made without egg if vegan, the ‘egg noodles’ in the curry mee and other dishes aren’t made from egg apparently. Only basic English spoken. The ladies that work their are real sassy but nice! Think it can get pretty busy but we went late afternoons which was nice and quiet

A bit hard to find at first, but totally worth the walk over. I can't lie- the food is a bit oily, but that's Asia for you. There were so many selections, it was really tasty and easy.

Don’t await any luxury, they mostly have mock meats and tofu in various sauces and rice, but for me it was perfect: cheap, tasted good and very filling.

A bit overrated and scruffy - Edit
Went there after reading many reviews and recommendations. I was kind of disappointed actually. All they had was tons of mock meats with various sauces but no vegetable dishes. I ate a small selection of mock meats with some bland white rice, for which I paid 13 ringgit. Expensive, I thought. I also had some takeout poppiah, which was quite tasteless. The old Chinese lady who estimated my plate was a bit quirky and greedy.

Overcharged because Im a tourist - Edit
I was terribly overcharged because I'm a tourist! Be aware if you come here and ask the price before buying. I was charged 14rm for a plate of rice with 3 toppings, I never pay more than 7 to 10 rm for the same in similar food stalls.

Great place to try local food and for cheap! Had the buffet and noodles. Very good with a nice spicy kick. Went back two more times to try other items in the buffet as it’s different each day. Go early-mid day to eat fresher/warmer food.
