Very disappointed - Edit
After reading the outstanding reviews we were eager to try this place. Firstly, I do not know why it is called "upscale", I thought we would see a tablecloth... Maybe people call it upscale because it is no a sandwich-salad joint? But, probably because the bill is quite high.
Read moreThe service was good, there we cannot complain. We were there on January 1st as a couple. We took the chef assortment plate as a starter at 28$ or 29$: that was the biggest deception. The waiter had told us they did not have figs to go on top of the bruschetta on the plate, we asked if they had replaced them with something else and he said no. That plate was an assortment of different dry and tasteless bites for two, one was a base of tofu for some sort of humus on top (tofu plain from a block!). I never thought I would write this but...they reminded me of leftovers from a party that were microwaved the following day... Inconceivable for an "upscale" restaurant. I would never serve this to guests and it was 28$! The other plates were good, rigatoni ( but the crostinis with fennel ham were humid, not crusty) and the filled sweet potato was good, but not out of this world. We decided not to take any dessert. We are not chefs, we just cook a little, and there was nothing an average homecook could not make. We left disappointed.
P.S. we based our starter choice in the picture that was in happy cow... Look at our picture...see the difference: no sauce, no colors.... Was the cook sick and they had a substitute one? Well that mistake is unforgettable. That is a lack of respect for the customer.
Pros: Many choices
Cons: Too expensive, not that upscale, Not consistent with pictures

High-end vegan cuisine - Edit
Good vegan restaurant, nice cosy place and lovely staff.
Read moreThis is more a higher-end vegan restaurant rather from the expensive side.
I had the Sauteed Broccoli Rabe, the Cape Cod Cakes of hiziki seaweed, tofu, and tartar sauce, the Risotto of shiitake, cremini, king trumpet mushrooms, arborio rice and miso-mustard cashew cream, and the Tiramisu.
Service is coming quite fast and if you want it slower, just tell them.
Overall a great experience!

Awesome Dining Experience - Edit
This place exceeded the expectations!! This was definitely on my list of places to try in NYC. I had tried two of this restaurant group’s fast food/take out locations and loved the food. This location is really cute and cozy. I definitely would recommend making a reservation as it gets busy even during the week. There are two small dining rooms. 1 on the street level and one upstairs. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food itself is amazing. We tried dishes from each section of the menu and shared. I went with my mom and son who are both non veg but, enjoy some vegan cuisine. They both loved what we ordered. We tried the chef’s sampler from the appetizers section, which had a nice variety of items and beautifully plated. We also tried the crispy artichokes from the appetizers. I seriously will crave those!! We also shared a large Caesar salad with Gardein chicken. So yummy. The lasagna was phenomenal!! For dessert we had the cheesecake and the chocolate ganache with peanut butter drizzle and vanilla ice cream. The cheesecake was awesome! The ganache was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The ice cream was even good!! I look forward to coming back to this spot.

Not even saved by the dessert. - Edit
The waitress was lovely , I can’t fault the service , but the food was not good at all. I’m a vegan from London , and I brought my mum as our treat night out as blossom is EXPENSIVE but I wish I hadn’t. We had the taster starter which was basically different vegetables deep fried , and some parts just inedible (can only recommend the ranch dip - that was INCREDIBLE). We then ordered the rigatoni and the risotto. The rigatoni was inedible , it was absolutely horrible and my mum couldn’t eat more than two bites. I tried but also no. Also , fennel jam crostini?! Horrible! As for my risotto , it was passable but I’ve had better risotto at non vegan places. For dessert I had the chocolate ganache which couldn’t be faulted , but my mum had the apple pie which was cold (weird but okay) , and also seemed to be undercooked. All in all , shocking for the price. I’m not sure how it gets such good reviews - we have far better restaurants in London , with much better food. I would not recommend - would have given 1 star if possible.

Squashed in the corner. Noisy and expensive. The waiting staff were so grumpy. We didn't think it was worth a tip. That made them even grumpier.

Probably my favorite vegan restaurant in NYC - Edit
Blossom may just be my favorite vegan restaurant in all of New York! It's definitely a little more upscale for a vegan place, so not the kind of cafe I would go to every week. They have a great vegan wine list, and a delicious menu of entrees. My personal favorite is the port seitan - it practically melts in your mouth

Vegan Fine Dining - Edit
This place is worth the splurge. The staff is great, the ambiance is pleasant, and the food is delicious. I liked that they had options I haven’t seen anywhere else, like wasabi crusted tofu. We also had the seitan scallopini with truffle mashed potatoes. The flavors are subtle and classy, making it feel all that more special.

One of my favourites in NYC - Edit
Blossom is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in New York. You can’t simply be disappointed with their dishes, in terms of portions, presentation, and flavour. I have tried many of their creations, which are simply outstanding. I have tried their Caesar salad with fake chicken bits, they Cape Cod cakes (wonderful!), and above all their main dishes which are huge, such as the Port wine seitan and the hickory barbecue tempeh. Their tiramisu is also very nice, sweet and fluffy, even though the coconut cream note is maybe too strong. But it’s something that can be forgiven! Just a final note: as it is not cheap, I would expect a more caring service, especially when you leave and nobody says thanks and goodbye. Maybe it’s not a habit in NY, but it would add the extra touch you would be expecting by such a place.

Delicious but Pricey - Edit
The food here is delicious, but it is really pricey. It's a once a year event for me, unfortunately. I'd go more often if they made the prices more reasonable. I think restaurants charge a lot in NYC to help pay the rent, but they charge so much that the majority of the people who would go there can't afford it on a regular basis.

We visited Blossom last night after finding it through my Happy Cow App. What a delightful restaurant. Our waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. He gave great recommendations. We started with the chefs tasting plate for two, it was a taste extravaganza, yum. I had the pine crusted eggplant dish for my main and couldn't have been happier. It was delicious.

Vegan Fine Dining at its Best - Edit
Blossom is an upscale restaurant with beautiful ambiance and great service. The best table is the one in the secluded alcove by the window. My husband and I have been here for brunch and dinner and both were outstanding. The pasta and picatta are both excellent. For brunch we loved the French toast and country breakfast of tofu scramble and soy sausage. The prices at Blossom are high, so my husband and I go to Blossom on special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Blossom should definitely be on your bucket list.
