Unique, upscale experience awaits - Edit
We so enjoyed our experience at Bloom. Note: this restaurant is located in capital Wicker park, just west of Old Town. We did not identify any processed or packaged food used here, for example, a prepared burger, protein; all the ingredients were fresh, unusual, and uniquely, employed and presented. The service was excellent: we were made to feel special throughout the whole experience we ordered two entrées and two desserts. The entrées included: Tacu Tacu, made with a base of roasted, smashed chickpeas and cauliflower underneath a smoky, tasty baby bok choy, and 2) yuca gnocchi that had fabulous taste, and texture. The two desserts included: 1) Macha cheesecake and tiramisu. They both artfully used food-based green coloring in them.

Absolutely a must try! - Edit
My wife and I have eaten at Bloom 3 times, and we have come all the way from Aurora to do so. Our first experience was to dine at the Chef's Kitchen Table which was every bit worth the premium price. To sample so may wonderfully flavored plant based items was amazing.
Read moreOur 3rd and most recent dinner there was for a family birthday celebration just 2 days ago. The menu has changed a lot since our 2nd visit a few months ago, but everything we tried was exceptional.
My personal favorite is the Baja Taco. Just learned about their affiliated location called Don Bucio's which is on my radar for our next trip into the city.
Chef - Please bring your amazing talents out to the western suburbs so we don't have to travel so far.
and KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

Unique and Delicious Menu - Edit
I really enjoyed the unique dishes you can’t get anywhere else! The tacos made from banana flowers were beyond good. We also had the jackfruit omelet and the eggplant omelet. I HIGHLY recommend the truffle fries. The only downside is it was extremely loud and we could not hear each other.

My goodness! - Edit
My partner, sister, and I had their 8 course tasting menu and it was by far one of the best restaurant experiences of my life! We had so much fun watching the cooks at work and seeing the carful plating throughout the night. The servers were kind and attentive, the food was incredibly delicious, the space was clean! I'm so grateful this place exists, I only wish there was one where I live!

Pretentious in the Worst of Ways - Edit
I don't know who designed this menu, but it's bizarre. Experimental, but not in any way that actually works. Everything is expensive and the portions are teeny tiny.

The food here is very tasty and experimental, and it was so much fun trying lots of different foods we'd never had before (including cactus!). Our non-vegan group enjoyed it too.

Delicious and creative - Edit
I really enjoyed my meal at Bloom today, it was delicious. The menu is creative, flavors are paired together well, you can see intention was put into crafting the menu. We really liked the tacos, we tried both of them, and the flatbread and squash side dish. You can get Floral THC infused drinks, I appreciated the non-alcohol option! Tasty food, the prices weren't too high, friendly staff.

Disappointed yet Hopeful - Edit
Disappointed today on my first visit for brunch. Service was terrible. Waited 15 minutes for first drinks, which were served by a second staff member — not our waiter. This after being told there was a full bar, yet the bar was unable to provide a bloody mary or a cosmo. Limited drink options from a stunningly sparse and uninspired drink menu. Pancakes with whipped cream and berries were very mealy and dry, with the whipped cream lasting for the first two bites and leaving dry pancakes in their stead. Request for syrup failed. Second request for syrup resulted in a small serving. No vegan butter offered nor provided. Attempt to order a second round of drinks resulted in another 15 minute wait. Apologies were offered. Highlight of the meal was a delicious Yukon potato plate which taunted the dry pancakes with a flavorful and delectable sauce. I really wanted to love this place but was left wanting more — more drink options, more pancake toppings, more attentive staff.

Fantastic Upscale Dining - Edit
This place was quite fab! The cactus schnitzel was my absolute favorite. Everything else was good, but didn't blow me away. My favorite dessert was the cheesecake. I also tried the pizza, swedish meatballs, lion's mane, creme brulee, and tiramisu.

Best Vegan Cheesecake Ever! - Edit
Bloom was packed when we arrived and for good reason: the atmosphere was amazing and the food was delicious! I especially loved the cactus schnitzel, pizza, and cheesecake. The free B12 "shots" on the house were a nice touch too! Expect to spend a lot, but you certainly get what you pay for. #Veganuary

Just ok vegan spot - Edit
The meal was fine, I feel like the flavors were all a bit conservative and they could’ve gone bolder with their choices. Everything we tried was good but nothing blew us away. I actually didn’t finish the cactus schnitzel because the sticky texture was quite unappetizing. The portions were small and there was an additional 3% environmental charge on the bill, which was a surprise. Bloom is really trying to be a fine dining establishment, but the food presentation and price vs flavor and restaurant vibe didn’t make sense.
Read moreThe staff struggled with the place settings and removing silverware between meals and that kind of ruined the fine dining ambiance for me personally.
Probably wouldn’t return because the pricing how regular the food felt.

Tacos from heaven - Edit
Placed a mobile order at Bloom for the Asada taco and the mushroom sandwich. Both items were amazing, but the Asada taco was exceptional and truly unlike anything I’ve had before in terms of texture and taste. I can’t wait to go to the restaurant and try more of their offerings!

Creative and delicious! - Edit
We ordered food from Bloom through a Dwell Social event in the west Chicago suburbs and we were amazed at the unusual flavors. We tried the cactus schnitzel, the spatzle, and the buji waffle sticks. Everything was fantastic. The flavor of the cactus was particularly memorable, and the mung beans in the spatzle were delicious. We were very impressed with the kelp-caviar on the waffle sticks. The waffle sticks were spiced and almost tasted deep-fried with a great texture.

Fancy Vegan Dining - Edit
My husband surprised me with lunch here and yes like some of the reviews state the prices are higher then other places but the food and the service were outstanding and worth every penny. I am a huge foodie and I had to change to eating vegan do to food allergies. I have not been able to enjoy a fancy meal in a long time and this place checked all the boxes. We will definitely be coming back to try their dinner menu.

Best Vegan Spot in Chicago! - Edit
Bloom is EPIC. My first time back in Chicago enjoying a plant-based lifestyle and this has already become my favorite vegan restaurant in town.
Read moreMy friend and I made dinner reservations on a busy weeknight. We ordered both the Baja Fish and Carne Asada Tacos ($5 each) to start, and each was packed with so much flavor. The baja taco was a delicious, crispy banana blossom tempura and my preferred of the two. We also split their their Shroom & Chorizo Flatbread ($13) and their Cashew di Pepe ($14). The flatbread was simply everything with its coconut based mozzarella and the mixture of cashew creamy kale noodles for the later was light and refreshing.
We ended the night with their house dessert which was a Ginger Carrot Pie that was absolutely fire. Everything we ate during that meal was above and beyond what I expect from a lot of vegan restaurants, and Bloom really takes it to the next level.
The vibe here is really something to write home about. The aesthetics are great and gives off a feeling like you're dining at a high-end restaurant- but you are definitely not paying high end pricing for such delicious food. Service was also fantastic with our server checking in on us very often.
Oh, and we also saw Chance The Rapper's brother dining here with us that night. If he's into it, so should you.
Pros: Excellent vibe, Great value, Excellent menu

Worth it in my opinion - Edit
Yes it’s pricey. Yes the portions are small. But some of the flavors blew my mind. Celebrated an anniversary at Bloom and it was definitely worth it. The cheese plate has a stand out star: the whipped cashew requeson with chili agave. I would eat a plate of just this cheese. The other two cheeses had decadent textures but couldn’t touch the requeson. The Sundried Tomato Shashimi was an entirely unique dish and quite good. The Buffalo cauliflower had the best GF breading I’ve ever had, although personally I’d prefer spicier Buffalo sauce. For an entree we split Mung Bean Bibimbap, a glorious dish of a mung bean tofu and tempeh over wild rice. Truly exquisite flavors harmonize in this dish. Finally dessert: the crème brûlée was pretty good, the tiramisu was not my cup of tea. The Camote Cheesecake was out of this world. A unique cheesecake, creamy and salty and tangy all at once, I loved it.
Read moreService was perfect. Drinks were quite good. Overall, Bloom is worth it if you’re willing to spend a little on unique items. Some items left a little to be desired, but the great dishes - the cashew requeson, the mung bean bibimbap & the cheesecake - I’ll be thinking about those all week.

Outrageous quality-to-price ratio - Edit
So.. quite a bit to unravel here. I’ll begin with the pricing. It takes nothing short of audacity to charge so outrageous prices for food that is, at best, decent home chef level. I was speculating that some of the reviewers here maybe didn’t appreciate the smaller portions in exchange for enticing, bold and vivid flavors. Rest assured, the price point here is out of touch; both in regards to the amount, as well as the quality of taste.
Read moreWe were a larger party and therefore ended up sampling ten dishes and dessert to top it off, meaning we ended up tasting quite a bit of their culinary repertoire. To put it bluntly: everything was mediocre and/or outright bad.
Starters: They botched the taco dough, so it ended up nearly raw and the fillings were mediocre, the dumplings were curry-esque, they basically served us mashed potatoes with bread, and the gnocchi were hopelessly average.
Entrees: Kofta were nothing short of off-putting. Overly sweet, mushy and too spicy which made for a bizarre experience I won’t soon forget, jackfruit seemed like it was semi-prepared days ago and then reheated and finished, last dish tasted like decent, homemade lasagna. I could go on…
Dessert: Chocolate cake was a dry, un-flavorful disaster. With the title: “Death by Chocolate”, you cannot avoid the overwhelming disappointment. The banana crème brûlée.. a syrupy-sweet mush of baby food with a nowhere near cracking surface, and with fresh banana hanging on for dear life on the side of the plate. Between the kofta and “crème brûlée” I’d put two dishes down as positively nauseating.
Service: Quite strange that none of our dishes were accompanied by at least a shallow presentation. Left to figure out the intricacies of the disappointing meal ourselves.
The waiter was, however, forthcoming when we voiced our dissatisfaction, and upon hearing this even revealed that they had gotten multiple complaints for the cake. They also agreed that the supposed “brûlée” was nothing of the sort.
We ended up getting three pieces of the dry cocoa-cake written off, which was thanks to the waiter.
This, however, cannot save the experience of visiting this establishment from being overpriced, underwhelming and at times directly off-putting. What an expensive disappointment…
Pros: Vegan (quite a low bar here…)
Cons: Extremely expensive , Outright bad food, No presentation

Best meal of my trip - Edit
I was in Chicago for a week and had a lot of great vegan food. This was by far the best. We shared a bunch of small plates- Cannellini Brandade, Buffalo Cauliflower and a Beet Dish. Then we shared- the Caribbean Jackfruit and Lion's Mane dishes. All were beautiful and flavorful. Just perfect! Save room for dessert- the Pumpkin Cheezecake was amazing. The chocolate cake was a bit dry but still good. Tres leches was great too! GO GO GO there NOW.

Fantastic vegan fine dining - Edit
Bloom is a great higher end vegan experience, it reminded me a lot of Fancy Radish in D.C. or Vedge in Philadelphia. We went with friends and all shared a bunch of smaller plates, including the lions mane, yuca gnocchi, poutine, buffalo cauliflower, and the caribbean jackfruit. All of the dishes were delicious. The buffalo cauliflower was fantastic, although I've seen that done just as well at several other vegan restaurants. As someone who has lived in Quebec though, the poutine is really not poutine haha.

Bloom was an all around great dining experience. The decor and ambiance was beautiful. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. All of the dishes had incredible flavor and presentation. the service is good but the food is pricey for the portion size (however the food itself is tasty) and the restaurant is kind of loud.
