Mixed feelings - Edit
Limited vegan options in Belém so we went to this spot based on its appearance here on this app.
Read moreWhen you sit down they bring unsolicited water, bread, olives, and butter which goes on your bill unless you ask them to take it away. The bread was warm and delicious so we ate it and devoured the olives.
Next we ordered a salad to share and a hair arrived along with it. They replaced the salad and were surprised we were still charged us for it (we didn’t bother disputing because staff struggled with English).
We ordered the red quinoa pies with tomato rice to share as a main and it was plenty for two people. Three pies come with one order and they were very delicious! Definitely the highlight.
All in all I wouldn’t go back though, I’m not a fan of being given food I didn’t order but am expected to pay for and anytime a hair is found in food, it’s an automatic ick.
Pros: Quinoa pies, Warm fresh Portuguese rolls, Location
Cons: Hair in food (still charged for item), Unsolicited bread, butter, olives, Unable to communicate with most staff

Apparentemente nessuna scelta vegan - Edit
A quel punto sinceramente ho preferito andarmene.

Great vegan versions of traditional Portuguese dishes - Edit
There are a few items on the menu marked as vegetarian that are actually all vegan. The little pastries which are typically Portuguese are delicious- the veggie one is filled with quinoa and vegetables. You can have them as a starter or main course served with tomato rice (Portuguese typical side dish). I also recommend the fava bean salad and the turnip greens which are sauteed in garlic and oil (also typically Portuguese). Everything me and my family (not vegan) ate was incredibly good. Great service. Definitely recommend.

Delicious quinoa tarts with tomato tarts - Edit
We were bleary-eyed and exhausted after having no sleep on an overnight flight to Lisbon, and unable to get into our accommodations yet--so we walked down to the area in the Belem neighborhood and found this cafe. It is a comfortable and elegant little cafe,
Read moreAt the time we got there mid afternoon on a Friday there was only one other couple in the restaurant.
Based on the recommendations from other HappyCow patrons we got the red quinoa pies (tarts)and rice.
They were really delicious, huge serving, enough for us to take home and have a second meal.
Honestly there are not a huge amount of vegan options but with something this delicious why do you need anything else? Yeah, of course I wish it was all vegan but we're definitely going to go back and get this dish again or maybe the other vegan dish and or sides .

Delicious - Edit
There were not many options, but the two dishes I had were delicious. I had a cauliflower almond soup for starter and quinoa empanadas with veg rice for main. Both very rich in flavour. Staff were very helpful with pointing out the vegan options and generally super friendly and attentive. Recommend as a great option when you're in this area.
