Nice place for vegan Middle Eastern food - Edit
Delicious vegan options are available. We had the vegetarian combo, which was full of wonderful vegan dishes (and others ate the tsatsiki and haloumi -- the only two non-vegan items on the platter). Outdoor seating is plentiful, and indoors it's like being in large light and airy decorative cave. The service was good as well as friendly.

We were staying in the area and so we could show up quite late and on short notice. The vibe seemed rather jolly and youthful. We ordered a sharing platter for two, which included a couple of highlights (lentils, rice), standard fare such as hummus and falafel, and items we could do without (beetroot, the cauliflower and olive dish). Oh, and the bread looked delicious but was actually quite a disappointment, as it was cold! Unforgivable..
Read moreAt the same time, it was an improvised, inexpensive dinner, and a decent one at that. On the minus side, in addition to what's been mentioned above, we were surprised that only after our food had been served and consumed did we hear "cash only, ok?" My friend pointed out the website mentions the possibility of a bank transfer (which it does), but staff weren't having any of it. As a staunch defender of cash, obviously I saw no issue with that and footed the bill.. but we didn't quite appreciate the tone of the waitress, who also suggested one of us withdraw money at a cash machine nearby WHILE the other remained in the restaurant. It didn't exactly feel like we were being trusted. In the same way, Baraka works as an option in a pinch, just don't go there if you're looking for a solid friendship.

Vegan Mazza Plate and No Alcohol - Edit
I've gone here a few times for dinner with friends. It's a huge restaurant with lots of seating both indoors and outdoors. Indoors you can sit on the floor on cushions, although I haven't tried this myself yet. The interior design is Marocco-inspired and looks very nice.
Read moreEach time I've been here I've shared the Tajine jardi - a mix of small vegan dishes together with a big vegan tajine dish - with my friends. It looks fantastic with all the small dishes together. Unfortunately the food is a bit of a let-down. I've had similar but much better food elsewhere (like Casalot, Gaza Grill Kødbyen, HUmmUS Den Haag). Another important thing to note is that they don't serve alcohol.
The last time I was there the waitress spilled hot coffee on one of my friends at the end of end of our meal. No problem, [censored] happens, but what didn't sit right with me was how she didn't really seem or act sorry for it. It was just a feeling I got.
I have mixed feelings about going back to Baraka again. On the one hand I love the concept of sharing dishes, on the other the food is pretty meh and there's no alcohol.

Read moreWe ordered two mixed mezze plates with tajine to share and it tasted good but nothing special. I personally really liked the falafel and hummus (both are some of the best I’ve had in Berlin) but the other dishes were ok. You can also order separated dishes but I would recommend the shared mezze plate as you get to try a lot of different food.
The restaurant doesn't serve alcohol but tea and really good fruity drinks. We sat outside and the outdoor area was not the coziest, just wood benches and tables (felt like a beer garden). I would still recommend going here as it was a nice experience!

Different to the smaller, self-service restaurants, which sell Arab fast food for take-away, this is a proper restaurant for "eating in" while enjoying good service and a nice atmosphere.

Inside, there is a wonderful seating area with rugs and pillows on the floor. The location seems also family friendly, as kids can play and an assortment of mezze is easily shared among various people.

Gemütliches Restaurant - - Edit
Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet, es gibt neben Tischenbund Stühlen auch eine große Sitzfäche auf dem Boden. Das Personal ist super nett - das Restaurant platzte aus allen nähten als wir spontan vorbei geschaut haben, die wenigen freien Plätze die es gab waren reserviert, trotzdem hat man uns einen Tisch für 3 Personen organisiert. Dafür das der Laden so voll war war das Essen schnell fertig. Achja, sehr lecker war es auch! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder 🙃
