Hidden fees

Lots of hidden fees. The cheese steak is marked at $22, but to buy one, I had to pay over $30 for takeout. The cheese steak was medium to medium small in size. It was decently satisfying, not great, not particularly good. The mandatory inclusion of fries it came with were small in size and exceptionally good, I got the sweet potatoe version.

No free parking.

The pricing strategy seems very deliberately misleading in the extreme and might be illegal.

If it weren't for the hidden fees and small portions, I'd happily recommend this and it's sister restuarant slutty vegan to anyone looking for a good bite but until things change, it's a last resort. I hope they prosper, though.

Pros: Menu options, Excellent customer service, Good ambiance

Cons: Huge Hidden Fees, No free parking, Small portions for the price

Good but not amazing

My partner and I got take out from here after getting Slutty Vegan for lunch since we live over a half hour away. We got enough for 2 dinners: cheesesteak egg roll app, Brussels app, spaghetti entree each, general tao chicken entree each. Tonight we had the spaghetti and Brussels. It was good but not amazing. We found the spaghetti heavy on the mock meat, but I thought the sauce flavorful.

Even though we got take out, the space seems cool for having long meals or hanging out with people because it’s so big and has cool seating areas. Music was a bit loud.

Pros: Tasty, All vegan, Cute vibe

Cons: Only paid parking in area, Expensive

Good food, party vibes

I went to Bar Vegan for brunch one Sunday. But found they do not have a brunch menu even though it was on the website. Even so we enjoyed the food. We split the cheesesteak egg roll appetizer and glazed Brussels sprouts. Both were very tasty. The egg roll had a lot of filling and the Brussels were tender crisp which was great. Our mains were the general tso chik’n and the seafood burrito. Both were portions big enough to split. We ended up taking leftovers. The seafood burrito, made with mushrooms, was salty and the waitstaff was aware as she ask about it afterwards. I think it has since been taken off the menu. The atmosphere was nice. Spacious with room between tables and a nice bar. One thing is the music, gospel on that sunday, was super loud. The volume can be turned down about 30%. I will give it another try at some point.

Pros: Tasty food, Large portions

Cons: Loud

Great new spot

The only two things I don’t like about bar vegan is that the food menu is small (though the food that is available is excellent) & the atmosphere is loud. This isn’t a place to go for conversation.

Deep Fried Vibes

Pinky Cole knows what people crave for a night of indulgence. Bar Vegan isn’t the place to look for vegetables prepared in unique ways, when you enter the door forget fat and forget calories. It’s a modern take on a sports bar, TVs abound, dark tables, bright lights, and a live DJ many nights. The menu is fairly small, but many uncommon vegan items, onion rings, Philly cheesesteak eggrolls, street corn, and you barely know they’re vegan. It’s certainly going to be a thriving date spot or hangout in the rebuilt Baltimore Peninsula.

That said, it’s not for me. Everything is deep fried, from the broccolini to the brussels sprouts. It’s a land of fake meat, golden fried. It’s the kind of place you leave feeling oil leak from your pores. It’s a fun ambience, but not for the faint of heart.

This will be my go-to spot once the weather breaks!

Great spot for a date night, to hang with your girlfriends/guy friends or to have a drink and bite to eat alone (they have huge televisions by the bar). Beautiful interior with lots of seating and they even have a few tables outside. Portion sizes are perfect. Enough to feel satiated and large enough to split, if you want. The bar staff was top notch but the front of the house could stand to be a bit more attentive and welcoming. Overall, a lovely spot and I’m glad they are here in Bmore.

Food Review:
Egg roll - tasty and filling
General Tso - tasty and filling (rice was under done though)
Brownie - on point
