Serves meat, vegan options available. An Izakaya restaurant under the train tracks in a charming area filled with food stalls. Has a variety of grilled vegetable skewers. English menu available with items marked as vegan. Also willing to adjust tofu menu items to remove fish/sauce to make vegan. Open Mon-Fri 3:00pm-11:00pm, Sat-Sun 12:00pm-11:00pm.

Cute little place

We had a charming sever on the 2nd floor of this cute little place in the Omoide Yokocho. Quite a few starters listed as vegan, but questionable labeling on some - ask if you can. We navigated the language barrier using Google Translate. Try the tofu salad — it was really amazing… fresh soft tofu with a tasty dressing!

Questionable vegan bona fides

The menu has a list of items labeled as vegan including edamame, rice, green peppers, mushrooms, cucumber with miso, and some others. The green peppers and mushrooms were good and I also liked the potato salad although I wonder if it was actually vegan. They have fried tofu with miso but it’s not labeled as vegan. I asked the server if it’s vegan and she didn’t know. Someone else at the table ordered it and it came with bonito flakes. I ordered the chips with sauce aurore which was labeled vegan but it came covered in melted cheese. I also ordered the pickled Japanese yams which were labeled as vegan and it came with bonito flakes all over it. The food was good but they seem to be confused about what vegan means and the server didn’t seem to understand that fish and cheese are not vegan. Menu items labeled as vegan included “egg and wood ear mushroom” as well as “fresh tomato with salt and mayo.”

Lovely food but smoking allowed

This place has great food, a lively atmosphere & very welcoming to tourists. Lots of vegan/vegetarian options. However, they allow smoking throughout the restaurant. If the weather is ok you can sit outside and the ventilation inside must be pretty good as it was not smokey. However, we could smell the smoke from the table next to us and we had our teenagers with us. We are from Australia and not used to smoking being allowed in restaurants. Overall, the food was amazing so worth it, but only just.

Pros: Food, Price, Lovely waitress and cook

Cons: Smoking allowed , Hot
