Lovely Ethiopian food - Edit
We visited Andu Caffe for dinner. It's a popular spot in the heart of Dalston so you may have to wait for a table... but it is worth waiting for! There's no real choice - you get an injera topped with lots of delicious stews & curries (called traditional on the menu) or all the same stuff in a tray with injera on the side (called a sampler).
Read moreWe took the 2-3 person traditional which costs £32. It was a lot of food for two people so unless you're really hungry you might prefer the 1-2 person option for £22. Everything was really good. We loved it!

Amazing place- be prepared to queue! - Edit
I have always loved ethiopian food and so thought I would try this out. Upon arrival (7pm Sat) there was a queue of about 10 people outside. Due to the simplicity of the dishes served we were only waiting for about 20 mins which was ok. Totally worth the wait, amazingly tasty and fantastic value!

I was in London and fancied something healthy and fresh (and vegan obvs), and Andu was brilliant. The owner was really friendly, and I had the traditional platter with injera bread. Loved it

Great tasting authentic Ethiopian food! - Edit
They clearly don't need my review, but I'm a regular when I am in the area. Fully vegan, wholesome and filling. You get quite a lot of food for your money. It's all wholefoods and freshly cooked.

Would take take away if needed. So far my absolutely favorite restaurant in London❤️.
Just LOVED IT!

For wheelchair users: front door and restaurant is small when coming in(lots of tiny tables with chairs).
No accessible toilet( didn't see any toilet there).

Really good food - Edit
I visited this place a few weeks ago, and got the 7 in 1 takeaway box. The service was quick. The price was really good for the amount of food you get. The food was slightly spicy. You have the option to get either bread or rice with the box. The bread is really nice with a hint of citrus. The one downside is that it is cash only but there are cash points close by.

Fastest service ever - Edit
There isn’t much choice - just rice/injera and the size of the platter. It’s self service for water and once you order the food comes in under 5 minutes. It was nice food but not the best Ethiopian I’ve ever had. Not too expensive for the size though

Bland Canteen Food - Edit
Perhaps I was here on a bad day but I really don’t get the rave reviews - the food was terrible! Tasteless tinned veg in bland sauce, I’m so glad I didn’t have any non-vegans with me. The injera tasted like smelly dish cloths. I used to go to a veggie Ethiopian place in Shepherds Bush and the flavours were amazing, with fluffy hot injera, it was one of my favourite meals. Obviously hats off to any vegan place but this was probably the worst vegan meal I’ve had in London in 10 years.

We ordered the original platter for 2 and it really filled us hungry vegans up. Delicious. I’m fascinated by “Teff” and what it does for digestion.

Good Food - Edit
NOTE: CASH ONLY
Read moreI feel very mixed about writing this review. The food was very good but we didn't have the best experience here. It's cash only which we weren't prepared for and took a while to sort out. There is no indication before you walk in that this is the case (I should have noticed it on the reviews here!). The lady serving really didn't seem to care we were there either, it was very very busy, perhaps she was having a bad day but this is the only experience I have to draw on.
The food came out very fast after we'd gotten some cash and was very good, not the best Ethiopian I've had (For London that's Asmara in Brixton or Blue Nile in Birmingham) but a very high quality. It included all the vegan dishes you'd want from ethiopian food. Good size portion (we had the 2-3 size between two of us) at a good price.
Go prepared with cash and you'll have a good time I imagine.
Pros: Great food
Cons: Cash only

Quite nice - but prices rose 25% this year - Edit
Price has risen by 43% since my last review and by 25% in the last year, the portion size has shrunk too, and the proprietor is borderline rude. There is better and cheaper vegan Ethiopian at Spitalfields Market.
Read moreOriginal review: Maybe the fourth time in my life I've had Ethiopian, definitely the best. The injera bread isn't as "bready" as usual, which is a good thing! Good portion size, healthy food, each thing was delicious. £7 eat in. I will definitely return.

Good food but could improve. - Edit
Good meal but there's better Ethiopian food in town (or in Ethiopia, eheh).
Read moreVery generous portion : I took the sampler/small platter for one person with rice.
Parts of it are pretty good, other a bit bland, the rice a bit too salty, but possibly because I'm not used to cook my rice with salt. I presume that the lentils contained some berbere but it was not the best I have eaten.
Very friendly person.
Pros: Good food, Big portion, Friendly staff
Cons: Could improve the taste.
