Bonjour, We accept criticism, including negative feedback, when it’s sincere and expressed respectfully (without presenting oneself as some kind of saint). Unfortunately, your message seems to stem more from bitterness than from any genuine desire to understand or contribute constructively. Our pastry shop is a small, independent, family-run business, built with love, dedication, and long working hours. We focus on quality, organic ingredients, and handmade recipes — often prepared while you're peacefully sleeping in your Airbnb (as I mentioned when you sarcastically asked if I was the chef). Respect and kindness are core values here — toward people, animals, and the craft we’re passionate about. We’re not perfect, but we give our best every single day. Most of our customers recognize that. As the saying goes, trying to please everyone means pleasing no one — and that’s not our goal. You may not have enjoyed your experience, and that’s your right. But spreading false claims or launching personal attacks is neither fair nor helpful — especially on a platform meant to promote mutual support and respect. As for my fellow chefs and bakers, they don’t need to be mentioned here. Each of us does remarkable work in our own way. We’re all different, and that’s a good thing. If you’re curious: some are loyal clients of MGP, just as I support them in return. That’s part of what being vegan means — respect and solidarity. The pastry shop you referenced follows my work and finds inspiration in it — which I appreciate. But they use industrial products and are neither 100% plant-based nor vegan. They’re simply riding the trend. I also love Lupin, which offers 100% authentic Portuguese cuisine — the kind many of us miss. Highly recommended. There’s also BAOMERANG, where I’ve had the best baos of my life — my go-to comfort after 14-hour workdays. Different cuisine, of course. And Anastacia Marina in Póvoa is a great spot for family meals where everyone finds something (vegan, gluten-free, or classic). But again, not fully vegan. So promoting another bakery on the profile of an independent, artisanal, organic pastry shop — on a platform meant to support both animals and people — feels, frankly, a little immature. No hard feelings. We’ll simply keep focusing on what really matters: serving those who appreciate authenticity, transparency, and a little sweetness — without bitterness. Amour toujours, Marthe – Chef & Founder
