Hi just to address this topic - as the owner of Patsy’s and a vegan of almost thirty years. Patsy’s is a restaurant that celebrates vegetables and meat free cuisine from the Mediterranean. I personally do not enjoy people telling me their opinions of what I eat and my moral choices, and so I do not pass public judgement on their choices either, everyone is allowed to make decisions about their conduct on their own. My personal choices not to inflict unnecessary suffering on animals is my own, it’s not based on a religious belief just an empathetic individual choice - my empathy also extends beyond animals to other humans. As we are a restaurant that celebrates the importance of knowledge of our food traditions alongside a deep appreciation of the beauty of growing food for our guests and a desire to celebrate the traditions of the places that created the Mediterranean wine bar culture - those bars which we so enjoy - the wine the food and the sense of joy involved in them. Our Front of house team have knowledge of each of the dishes, they love to share that with our guests. Putting a (VV) symbol on a menu is not a service it is a feature of lack of commitment to engagement with guests, a joyless display of perfunctory menu design and while makes it clear that there is going to be something for a vegan to eat - I think I shows to me that the level of food and overall dining experience will be basic. We strive towards showing our guests the best of what a vegetarian dining experience can be and a part of that is creating a conversation around the food and what is good on our menu each day…. I hope that guests will read this response, and those that want to come drink some delicious wine, enjoy a martini, eat some wonderful food based on what is grown in our garden will come in. Those looking for a place to eat a industrially produced faux meat hamburger that is cooked on a separate grill to the meat one that person next to them is eating with some emulsion of coconut oil that has been dyed yellow and shaped like a piece of kraft cheese - cooked by a person who has little training, extremely low pay and little job satisfaction, please feel free to continue to comment about the graphic design of our menu I think you may have totally missed the point of restaurant culture.
