Excellent place for a cozy lunch - Edit
The restaurant is a small place which serves fully vegan dishes. Pasta, dumplings, vegan meat, all served with a delicious salad. The cooks are very friendly and talkative, they will chat with you all the time while preparing the food literally in front of you. If you are looking for a way to spend your lunch break in a relaxed environment, this is your place.

Lovely lunch place - Edit
Just a few steps from Gion centre, slightly hidden maybe, but for a good reason ;). Only 8 seats available, if full, waiting is worth it.
Read moreToday’s menu is 1500¥, one with dumplings 1800¥, drinks for 400¥. Also serves gluten-free pasta and if you order their soy bean coffee, you get and extra drip bag to bring home.
We ordered two meals meantioned first and were not dissapointed. Daily side dish were mixed beans, maybe a bit on the saltier side, but very tasty indeed. Expect lighter meal for very good price.
Mixed-couple owned place, staff is very friendly, English is spoken.
Fully reccomend!
Pros: Lovely lunch, Friendly and chatty staff, Menu choices

Wonderful restaurant - Edit
My wife (gluten free), son (vegetarian), and I (I'll eat most anything, but try to keep them happy!), found this restaurant on Happy Cow. All three of us loved it. The food was amazing, the fresh Kyoto veggies unbeatable, the ambiance and setting were fun, but the owner/COO (Wada) and the employees were the real treat -- it was so fun talking with them and sharing a laugh. Thanks guys, we would love to visit again when we retune to Kyoto some day! :-)

Lovely food with a simple menu - Edit
They basically only offer a salad with a vegan protein or with gyoza. There are a couple of small side dishes as well but I didn’t try them.
Read moreThe salad was great. Really fresh and the chickpea croquette was fantastic and had a salsa and aioli on the top. Super flavour packed lunch.
I wouldn’t say the portion size is very big as most of it is salad but I felt it was still fairly priced given the quality.

Such a clean small place serving freshly made food. They offer a menu with a salad base and a different main everyday. The dessert was prepared in front of me while I chatted with the staff! Such a great atmosphere.

Extremely friendly owner, good food - Edit
Tiny place with just 6 seats at the counter. We didn't have to wait in line though, as there were 2 seats free when we arrived. Food was nice and fresh - more of a light lunch than a filling dinner. We had a chickpea croquette platter and a dumplings platter. Both were good, although we preferred the chickpea one. The owner was extremely talkative and friendly, both asking us many questions and telling about himself and his family :)

Small shop but the veggies are very fresh - Edit
The food is nicely seasoned. The owner said it's farm to table. We ordered the soup 400 yen and daily plate 1500 yen. Owner (Japanese) also chatted with us and seems very welcoming. He also provided us with some places to visit around Kyoto. Really nice guy. The chef is from Ukraine.

Hidden Gem - Edit
This restaurant is hidden in an alley located very near the Yasaka shrine and also the Gion geisha district. The menu is limited but what’s on offer is delicious! The food is a unique mix of Russian/Ukrainian and Japanese cuisine. The tea on offer is quite tasty as well!

Great takeout - Edit
Had the main plus dessert as a takeout to enjoy eating in Maruyama park. Waited around 20mins for it. The protein in the main is changed daily. Today's was the scrambled tofu which is really good. Really liked the presentation of the food. There was a queue before 12 to enter the restaurant so go early.

Calm gem in Gion - Edit
This is a nice lunch place in a tiny alley in the north of Gion. The two ladies who run the place are very keen on preparing good food of high quality, as well as making you feel welcome. The teas are up to the japanese standard, means very good. They regularly offer one dish/day, additionally a soup and desert, which can be ordered separately, everything made of fresh, widely seasonal ingredients. Check it out!

A hidden Vegan gem - Edit
This restaurant was a highlight of my travels in Japan. It is a very cozy one counter restaurant. There is only one main course option per day but it is always so good that one is all you need. They do also sell appetizers, desert and drinks which are all great as well. I recommended the Zirael Tea 🍵
