Awesome vegetarian restaurant with vegan and gf options - Edit
Everything is clearly labeled gf or vegan. With two folks in my family who have allergies, this restaurant was a no brainer when we visited Nashville... Came here three times during our visit!

Affordable and Delicious - Edit
Woodlands is one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville and ordering is easy as a vegan because they are already a vegetarian restaurant! Aloo gobi is my comfort meal and favorite off their menu. Many of their dishes are able to be made vegan and the portions are giant!! One of my favorite spots for a reason!

Great menu (get the dosa!), staff are happy to tweak most of the vegetarian options to make them fully vegan, but the already-vegan offerings are the best things on the menu.

My go to for Indian food - Edit
This is the best Indian food in the Green Hills area. The Masala Dosa is really good. Samosa’s are the best I’ve had anywhere and Channa Masala and Aloo Gobi are excellent. I prefer off the menu but they have a popular lunch buffet as well.

Lots of dairy free options 😋 - Edit
Everything here was delicious! I saw only 1 dish at the buffet with paneer, and the dessert has the in it. I wish I lived in Nashville just for the food.

Alright, if I'm gonna start contributing to Happy Cow, it's not right to leave this place unstamped, even though I've been outta Nashville for years now -- but this was a Hall of Famer in my life. And its HC presence would not be complete without the imprimatur of its most cherished former patron. During my days in Music City (as a wee lacto-vegetarian, not yet a vegan), this place brought many a smile and induced multiple food comas. Their parking situation isn't ample, and you want to eat temperately enough that you don't pass out in your car afterward (other people are trying to park & eat too!) ... Pro tip -- skip their dinner; do the lunch buffet. Enjoy, and have an extra bite in my honor.

Amazing! - Edit
While visiting Nashville we were concerned we wouldn't be able to find much vegan food. This place was a revelation. We ate the lunch buffet and the majority of the offerings were vegan. Everything was clearly labeled, the place was incredibly lovely and clean, the service was excellent and the food was some of the most delicious Indian food I've ever enjoyed.

Hard to beat. - Edit
I’ve spent a fair bit of time in India and this is some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. Most restaurants in India are like this because the majority of the country is vegetarian. So they aren’t making veggie versions of meat dishes, they’re just making food. The lunch buffet is outstanding and a great bargain. Plus they switch up the dishes each day of the week.

Great lunch buffet - Edit
Went to Woodlands today after seeing the good review they had. The 12.99 lunch buffet was a great deal. Also within 5 minutes of the Parthenon so perfect for before or after some sightseeing. My favorite dish was a cauliflower spinach mixture but everything I tried was good. Naan was a little flatter and drier then I am used to but you don’t really notice when paired with everything else. Also everything is clearly marked either Vegan or Gluten free on the buffet so you don’t have to worry about anything hiding in there.

Spacious, comfortable restaurant with a family atmosphere. INCREDIBLE food from all over India (owner family was from Mumbai). Also able to handle my onion, mushroom, and coconut allergies for pretty much every item on the menu. Owner was super friendly and nice too!

Amazing food, great atmosphere! - Edit
This place is a dream come true. The food is delicious, fresh, and healthy. Everything is clearly marked "vegan" and/or "gluten free", which actually includes the majority of the options! Why doesn't this place exist where I live??

Delicious Vegan Indian Food! - Edit
My fiance and I were in town for the weekend and after looking online for a place we could both eat and have lots of options (I'm vegan and he's vegetarian), I found Woodlands on HappyCow and knew we had to go! I had been to Indian restaurants before and this was my fiance's first time eating Indian food. We both LOVED it. We got the buffet. I tried every vegan thing they had on the buffet, and loved all of them. I went back for seconds for my favorite dishes. I really appreciated that everything was clearly labeled vegan or vegetarian. My only complaint is I wish they would have had at least one vegan dessert. As far as the location/parking... We couldn't find a spot in their parking lot so we had to park about a quarter mile away. We actually ended up appreciating this because after leaving, we were feeling like we just ate Thanksgiving dinner and it was nice to walk it off a little bit :) I've been thinking about making a day trip to Nashville soon just so I can eat here again. Highly recommend.

Wonderful for vegetarians - Edit
This is our favorite place to eat in Nashville. We probably go twice a month. The food is so good, I've never had anything bad. My favorites are the dosa, and the hakka noodles. I have not been back since we made the switch to veganism though, so it will be interesting to see how that goes based on some of the other reviews I've read. We take meat eating friends here all the time and they love it too. the food is so flavorful and the service has always been great.

Since going vegan, this place has remained at the top of my list when eating out in Nashville! They have started labeling everything on the buffet and over half of the food on the buffet is vegan. If you go at night, just mention to the waiter that you are vegan and they can make lots of suggestions and make things vegan for you. I have never had a bad meal at Woodlands!

Another update! They changed the menu and now everything is labeled! They can make almost everything vegan too. Still our go to place in town. Check the hours because they are closed between lunch and dinner. I highly recommend the buffet!
Pros: great good, nice staff, dosa
Cons: parking can be tough

Excellent vegan experience - Edit
My boyfriend and I tried the lunch buffet while visiting Nashville for the day. For $10, they offer all-you-can-eat delights: multiple entrees and sides, salads, soups, breads, and papadums. Everything is clearly labeled vegan and gluten-free, if applicable (most things were both).
Read moreThe desserts had dairy, but there were fresh orange slices that kept my sweet tooth happy.
The food is absolutely top-notch. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and not-too-oily. Nothing disappointed.
The atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting. Lunch was very busy, but we had no wait, and they let you grab a plate and get started right away. Waitstaff was great about clearing plates and refilling water, and delivering the check when we were done.
I will visit this place every time I'm in the area. It is well worth a stop.
Pros: Authentic food, Lots of vegan options, Great price on the buffet
Cons: Would have liked to try vegan dessert, I live in Massachusetts!

Monthly gathering - Edit
A Nashville vegan group does a monthly meet up here, and there's a reason for it. They have the room to accommodate larger groups, the food is outstanding, and the staff not only knows what on the menu is vegan, but even knows and will communicate to the kitchen substitutions to make some of their non-vegan dishes into vegan dishes. And who doesn't like some good Indian food every now and then? Nobody, so when you want Indian food, head to Woodlands.

Friendly staff. Simply mention you're vegan and they make your dishes accordingly, no explanation required. I had dal makani as my entree and it was phenomenal. They have you select how spicy (or not) you would like your dish.
