So tasty! - Edit
This was my second visit, but first to the new premises. We had booked online and it was a good job we did as it was packed (Thursday evening). We ordered the chill cheese chick’n burger and the kimchi chick’n burger and shared some Thai fries. My hubby (who is hard to please), was totally blown away by how good everything tasted. We shared a piece of the lemon drizzle cake and that was lovely too. And we washed it down with a vegan IPA. We talked to Grace who is the mom of the owner and she was really friendly.

Really tasty food - Edit
Sadly they didn't have any 'chicken' burgers when we went but it was really tasty regardless. The 'beef' burgers were quite thin but the flavours made up for that. The non-vegan that we went with was really impressed! I did find it rather on the pricey side (£65 for three people for a burger, side and drink each (only 1 drink was alcoholic)).

Delicious and a Manchester must-try! - Edit
Read moreA cute little restaurant with really cool decor and feel. We were walk-ins and were lucky to get a table as they had a lot of bookings, so would recommend booking beforehand!
They had a special Sunday menu, and we ordered a roast and the Smash Burger (a roast burger) with the Cauli Cheese Poppers and an extra truffle mayo dip. The food was so delicious, and would easily give it 5/5.
The staff were friendly, but unfortunately we were waiting for over 45 minutes to get our food after ordering, so ended up being over an hour after we arrived. As we weren’t expecting this on arrival we were left in a rush to eat because we had to catch a train, and sadly the food was slightly lukewarm. If it wasn’t for the wait my review would have definitely been a 5/5, the food was really good, but unfortunately the wait and the subsequent rush took away from the experience for me.
I did see others getting served a fair bit before us that arrived after, so perhaps something happened with order and that isn’t usually the case.
We also got a Biscoff brownie and a berry tart for dessert to take away, both were just gorgeous.
It did end up pretty expensive with 2 mains, a side, a soft drink and 2 desserts coming to over £50 (without service charge) but the food really was excellent so without the wait I’d say it was very much worth it!

Wishing them the best - Edit
I’ve followed and tried to support WJs for a while now - tried to get to the Warrington on most weekends before they closed. So on our wedding anniversary we booked in and drove over to this Manchester one, told them the occasion and who we were (we often spoke at the Warrington location), but we were horseshoed into a corner at a bar. Uncomfortable and definitely didn’t feel like an occasion. Staff were okay, not too friendly. Wrong beer (ordered and was charged for a 6% premium IPA but was given a weak 4% one). Food was as good as the Warrington one. But we were keen to leave as soon as the food was down us. Didn’t really enjoy it but don’t want to leave a bad review (hence the 5 stars). Probably won’t go back but wish the owner all the very best.

Wholesome, filthy, deliciousness - Edit
Recently we have been able to have Wholesome Junkies delivered to our home. The variety and ever-changing menu keeps you interested and the execution of the food is outstanding. My partner ordered the Korean Dog which was a dream and I had the salt and pepper porkless kebab which was the best vegan kebab I've ever eaten. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing as always! - Edit
I've ate at wholesome junkies a few times now including at the Liverpool Baltic Markets and Warrington Market stand and now in their Manchester restraunt twice and every time it is just incredible, never disappoints. The burgers are just the best. I always leave here absolutely stuffed because I refuse to leave anything behind! Sometimes the portions are possibly too much especially the chips however I would 100% recommend to anyone. My favourite burgers 😍.
Read moreUnfortunately it is quite small so I would recommend booking a table in advance if possible.
Also they have the cutest mushroom lamp!

The food is always amazing, staff are lovely and friendly, decor in the little restaurant is cute and bright. There's often new and exciting things on the menu. Their burgers are INSANE, especially the chicken burgers, and their tots are 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Edit: to add we've taken a few meat-eaters whom were also impressed, so it's not just veggies and vegans whom can enjoy WJs!
Love ya! Filthy food at its finest! #Veganuary

Recommend these to absolutely everyone. Make a point of trying new vegan places rather than returning to those I’ve tried, but junkies are the exception to the rule for myself and so many vegan mates. Can’t be beat.

Great Menu but too salty - Edit
We had the Kimchi burger, Classic burger and the glazed bites.
Read moreThe Kimchi burger was interesting, it was tasty and rich but there was too much happening in this burger, I'm very impressed that the buns stayed intact as I tried to battle with the content....onion rings, kimchi, teriyaki glaze etc. The teriyaki glaze was very salty...or overly seasoned and the Kimchi itself was not as expected, it's more like pickled sliced carrots and thinly sliced lettuce.
The 'chicken-less' patty was good - 3/5 stars
The classic burger again was good and easier to eat due to the non battered 'beefless' patty, the ingredients were cleaner but it was very rich, creamy and overly seasoned again - 4/5
Loved the glazed bites at first but it became way too salty due to the sauce, really loved the bite of them and the texture with that lovely batter on the outside - 4/5
Feel bad that there are only 2 staffs working the extremely small kitchen and front of house, the lady (probably the owner) was very nice.
Disliked the location of the place as it is slightly tricky to find when you're starving! There's not enough tables.....you kind of have to stare at people until they move and if you don't like sitting next to strangers then tough luck.
NEW LOCATION feels a bit dodgy, however, when you enter, it's vibrant and quirky unlike the outside.....
Gyoza's were good, a bit too oily, it comes with seaweed but you can ask for that to be taken off.
The "chicken" pops were really good, would order again.

To quote Gerry Cinnamon - She’s a Belter …. - Edit
Trying to support vegan only businesses is hard when you want a breakfast after a night out and none are open until 11am or Midday. Browsing the menu at WJ shortly after 10am the guys said they were prepping but happy to serve us. Nice 😊
Read moreWhat a cool place. Bright, colourful, funky, quirky, with mellow tunes and a belter of a menu - 6 small plates, 8 burgers (9 with the breakfast one - not on the menu), 10 amazing specials, 5 desserts and whole load of drinks, including alcoholic. We were really sad the Mac ‘N’ Cheese was not available.
Breakfast Burger £8.50. To quote Gerry Cinnamon - “she’s a belter”. Bigger than a Big Mac and tastier than a Whopper, it’s a soft warm brioche bun with a sausage patty, it’s not bacon, hash brown and melted cheese. Dead and gone to heaven…
Frickles £4.95. 8 long pickles fried in panko crumbs served with WKs own mayo. They were moist, not at all greasy and the mayo was superb.
Thai Fries £5. Skin-on-fries covered in sweet chilli and spicy mayo, interspersed with pickled chillis, spring onions, sesame seeds and a wedge lime. They were tasty and we’ll seasoned. To be really picky, they were too crammed in to eat easily but I couldn’t fault the flavour.
Chai Latte £3.95. A little steep for a hot drink, but it is honestly the best chai latte I’ve had. The difference being, this was so thick and creamy which I really liked.
Would I recommend? Most certainly.
Would I go back? With so many 100% vegan places in Manchester it’s a tough one, but it’d be unfair to say no, as I know I’ll be back for a Chai Latte and Breakfast Burger after a night out.
Thanks for letting us eat early guys. 🙋♂️

Really lovely food. Wanted KFC but no cauliflower available so went for the Chik'n sandwich on the recommendation of the previous reviewer @LoVe20 and it didn't disappoint. Partner had the OG burger, looked fab. Can definitely recommend Frickles too - don't recommend sitting next to the door though as it sticks and people coming in and out assume it will close behind them. It won't, so you'll find yourself on door duty!

Although the place was busy, and I mean busy, staff were quick, friendly and apologetic. The menu has such a good choice and the prices are excellent. I had the "beef" burger and my partner the chikn burger - the "beef" was one of the best burgers I've had anywhere. Definitely will come back next time we're in Manchester.

I've eaten at Wholesome Junkies a few times when they were in the market, and once since the move to the new location (which is adorable, love the colour scheme!).
