It was fine - Edit
Reasonable prices for reasonable food. They had run out of our first choices so we ended up with food not quite to our tastes.
Read moreService was OK. Wine was fine. Portions were generous on the mains.
It’s right by a busy road so might be good to have a seat inside because the smell of petrol took away from the night somewhat.
Pros: Generous portions , Central location
Cons: Coconut oil cheese substitute used , Traffic (foot and cars), Honey in the baklava

Vegan Greek classics - Edit
Veganissimo is part of Med Food which serves meat, but they have a separate vegan menu with classic dishes including moussaka (highly recommend!), souvlaki with either falafel or various fake meats, and baklava. We were also given a complimentary mini dessert at the end! I would definitely return if I was staying longer in Santorini.

Possibly NOT VEGAN! - Edit
Happy Cow said this was closed so I didn’t pursue going here. I found out it was open on my last day so visited. I am vegan and chose the vegan moussaka. It was tasty but more like a lasagna. It had no potato, couldn’t see any aubergine and had a pasta base. Having just read reviews on TripAdvisor (see Jane Oct 23) one customer asked to see their ingredients list and found out their supposedly vegan products contain cows milk! This is appalling if true. (I wonder if the owner wanted it marked as closed on here if it is disingenuous!). I will leave a review on TA too to hopefully warn other fellow vegans.
Read morePros: It was tasty but now scared it wasn’t vegan!, Friendly & efficient service.
Cons: Might not be vegan despite saying it is!, They give you yummy bread but chg., Some quite pricey items.

Eh - Edit
I generally give out pretty good reviews that are honest if they are positive, but I have to give my opinion this one unfortunately. Food was not really good. The vegan carbonara was overly salted and tasted like box white cheddar Mac and cheese. The tzatziki was pretty good but the tomato fritters were just okay. Our meals came out before our appetizers and coffees. Very odd. The owner said he would give 5% off if we gave a good review.

Lots of traditional Greek vegan dishes - Edit
Friendly service and reasonably priced.

My personal favourite was the saganaki.
Highly recommend.

Lots of Good Vegan Options - Edit
This restaurant shares the same space as a non-vegan Mediterranean restaurant. The vegan menu is extensive with moussaka, gyros, lasagne, pasta, salads, fritters, baklava, etc. The server Alex was very friendly.

Gut und angemessene Preise. - Edit
Das Essen war sehr gut und die Preise waren okay. Man läuft nur schnell vorbei, da der Name klein geschrieben ist. Am besten orientiert man sich an den gelben Stühlen.

Weird place and the food was not great - Edit
The place (Veganissimo) does not really exist. It's the restaurant "Med Food", and only if you ask for vegan do you get the menu of "Veganissimo". (Which is why we almost didn't find it.) So it's just a normal restaurant with a vegan menu. OK. No big deal, if that's how they organise themselves. But then the food was not really great and I regretted not having tried another of the (actually vegan) restaurants on my list. The location is also not great, right by the main street with all the traffic. I would not go there again.

The most disgusting dish ever - Edit
I’m vegan for 10 years with very low standards in food and the Mushroom Gyros in this restaurant was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. I was with nausea the whole day. It ruined my love for mushrooms for ever.

Plenty of traditional Greek vegan options - Edit
This was the visit we were probably most excited about based on previous reviews & the pure abundance of options. It’s in a good location near the the bus station although could probably do with some slightly better signage. We had the tomato fritter & a Greek salad to start, followed by a falafel & mushroom souvlaki plate. This was way too much food as the portion sizes are very generous. The food was tasty, although I would say I’d had better gyros at other omni places in town, the tomato fritters were tasty but overly greasy on this occasion. I think it’s fairly priced for what you get but compared to other food we’ve had in the area it’s slightly on the pricey side. The complimentary bread with tzatziki to start & chocolate torte nibbles at the end were a welcome treat. A good experience but the anticipation from what I’d seen and read beforehand made me feel just ever so slightly underwhelmed.

Great options- if you ask for the vegan menu! - Edit
We stopped at this place for a quick lunch while passing through Fira due to the great reviews. We were a little confused as the restaurant goes by “Med Food” and “Veganissimo”. We sat down and were given menus that clearly had meat and dairy on the menu.
Read moreWe asked our sever if this was vegan, and he had to swap out the menus. So make sure to ask for the vegan menu when you arrive!
From there the experience was good. We ordered the Veganissimo salad which was lettuce, pomegranate seeds and fig- delicious and a large portion. We also got the beyond souvlaki. Basically pieces of beyond burger with potato’s, tomato, and tzatziki on pita- didn’t blow our minds but still tasty for two people who are hungry😄
Some of the reviews noted the menu was expensive but I find it to be comparable pricing to the other meals we had in Fira and Oia. Hope this helps!

Great spot on the way into Fira - Edit
Being my first impression of plant based gyros, it was a great first impression!
Read moreIt's vegan menu was wide, and it did many of the classic (normally non-vegan) items in an authentic and legitimate way.
Thoroughly enjoyed, and planning a second trip!
Veganissimo shares a space with an Omni restaurant called Med Food, so just make sure to ask for a menu!

Full yet Deflated - Edit
We were excited to try this restaurant in Fira centre and turned up ready to be wowed. It had been awkward to find as there is no visible signage and we walked past it a couple of times.
Read moreThe marketing for it is most positive, the reviews are super and its online presence is impressive. However, unfortunately for us we were totally underwhelmed. The service was impatient and the food simply average, although portion sizes were large (hence the expensive prices). The electronic menu screens were extolling the virtues of their fish and meat dishes; we found that a bit confusing for what we thought was a vegan restaurant. When you realise that Veganissimo is actually a pop-up inside a Mediterranean restaurant then that helps, but nowhere tells you!
We ordered Fava (yellow split peas, Santorini style), flat bread, mushroom gyros (this comes deconstructed) and the moussaka. The food was pleasant. For a specifically vegan restaurant, we thought we were in for a treat as when eating in many, local omni restaurants, we had been really impressed with their accidentally vegan dishes. We ate the Veganissimo food and left, feeling full yet deflated.
Pros: Centrally located near to bus station , Decent loos!, Vegan options abound
Cons: Expensive, Hard to find, Didn’t match up to online presence

Not great - Edit
Pretty disappointing. The Beyond Gyros was an unseasoned burger patty in a pita bread with hardly any vegetables and a bland sauce. The quality of the food is not worth the price and the atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty much non-existent. Cannot recommend.

Moussaka best vegan one I had in Greece.

Yum - Edit
All vegan aside from honey in one of the desserts. They share a space with an Omni restaurant. The food was really nice and the staff were great. They ever gave us a chocolate salami treat for dessert for free (it was great). You might be able to find better souvlaki on the other islands but I would definitely recommend coming if you're in fira.

Good menu choices but not 100% vegan - Edit
We went here as it was the top option in Santorini for vegans. There was a good choice on the menu and the food was good and served quickly. Good service and knowledge. We did come back a couple of nights later for dessert as I’d gotten very excited at the thought of vegan baklava with ice cream but sadly it’s made with honey. The gentleman did advise me that some vegans eat honey, which is true, but it doesn’t make it a vegan dessert IMO. So that was disappointing and I didn’t order.

We have been back here 5 times because the beyond chicken sovlaki is the best thing ever! We have tried a few different things off the menu, but nothing beats the sovlakis! I'm literally going to have dreams about that sovlaki when I return to the UK. Wish I could bring this restaurant with me!

As good as it gets for Greek vegan - Edit
Pretty much blown away by this place. Plus the men running it are on top of it and Service is brisk. It’s on the main street where cars and pedestrians are coming by so it’s lively…. but let’s get down to the food. The vegan cheese pizza was literally to die for. The feta cheese is a texture and a taste like I’ve never had with Vegan. It tastes better than the real thing! The mousaka Was better than the one I had in Athens. This one was cooked to perfection right out of the oven. My wife had a mushroom pie in a square piece. We want to come back and try the rest of the menu. They have a double cuisine concept meaning they have one side of the restaurant is Vegan and the other side is Not vegan. Two different menus, that’s why I can’t get five star. Trust me if you are vegan, you will freaking love this place!
