my favorite comfort food

the buffet selection might not be the most original in town - it's more or less the same as any loving hut, but you can also order burgers, schnitzels, pho, noodles, etc. which are very tasty, big portions, not expensive and served by very friendly staff. they also have a small shop with vegan products, such as chocolates, instant soup, raw bars, cheeses, spreads, etc.

Pros: nice staff, price, good food

Cons: more variety in the buffet would be nice

good food

The food here was decent and pretty cheap. We paid the equivalent of about $6-7 for a fairly filling plate for two. It wasn't anything amazing, but it was tastier than I anticipated so no complaints!

Pros: cheap, tasty

Nice Buffet

Completely vegan with many different options. An excellent buffet, a so/so menu ( cake) and a little shop. This place reminds me of a nice cafeteria. It is inexpensive and there is plenty of things to choose from, but it is not a fancy place. Some of the dishes are really good some a bit dull. This is a place where you need to know what to get - and it is the buffet.

Pros: Fair prices, nice personal

Cons: The burgers

Very good value for money in Prague

Before travelling to Prague we did some research on HappyCow. We wanted something fairly fast, simple, cheap, tasty and open till quite late (including Saturday); nothing far from where we were right then, nor totally unhealthy, posh or fancy. In the end, we went out for late lunch 5 times to 4 different locations/3 different chains.

Coming from a country where vegetarian (not to say vegan) restaurants aren't so commonplace we are modest and do appreciate the fact that we don't have to scrutinise every single ingredient and examine the staff (like at fancy non-veg*n places).

We visited VL 3 times in a row, twice this branch. It offers a self-service buffet (eat in or take away). Everything is vegan and clearly labelled (ingredients, hot/mild). They charge for water. You pay CZK 24 for 100 g. Some items (desserts and drinks) are priced individually. Apart from the buffet you can pick from the menu which is on the wall (burgers, quickies, sushi, mains). They sell a few vegan groceries too. After lunch time you pay only CZK 19 for 100 g and after 7 pm you pay about CZK 90 for all you can eat.

When we went there, it was very quiet, hardly any people. We had a bit of everything: fried noodles, plain rice, roasted veggies and potatoes, coated cauliflower, spring rolls, omelette, soy kung pao, stewed veggies, wraps, mayo potato salad, stir fried veggies, plain chickpeas a beans, couscous salad, various salads, soy goulash with veggies. There were some more types of salads as well as cooked meals. Once we had a piece of delicious Krtkuv dort CZK 55 (chocolate cake with fluffy vanilla filling) and the following day tiramisu which was one of the best we'd ever eaten.

Overall, we found the food in VL nice and, what is more important, it seemed palatable to our fussy 2.5-year-old son too. Just one negative thing, during our second visit we noticed that the meals were almost the same and the plain rice very dry (as if it was cooked the day before and reheated or something). Btw, the food reminded us very much of LovingHut. It makes me wonder who copies off who.

The food could have been fresher

I visited the place on Easter Saturday, which turned out to be a bad call. The restaurant was nearly empty and probably for that reason you could tell that most of the food had been sitting for a good while. The noodles were dried out and the cauliflower fritters were far from crispy.
Otherwise I found the food quite tasty, not mind-blowing but good enough considering the price. The cakes looked delicious but unfortunately I was too full to try them. I'll probably go back on a busier day and try some desserts too, as the price was very reasonable (I paid around 100 crowns for a full plate) and the location is convenient for me.

Meh

Not a fan of buffets but thought we'd give this a try as it was located at the Metro stop we alighted from. Generally tasty food but lukewarm, some of it was a bit bland. Reasonable choice. Charging for tap water(!). Friendly service and a nice seating area.

Pros: All vegan, Friendly service, Pleasant environment

Cons: Mediocre lukewarm food

Bistro

If you are not as health-conscious as I am, you will find this place nice. Or at least suitable for a fast meal.

Pros: Inexpensive , Prague 6, Raw cakes

Cons: Unhealthy

Delicious buffet, cakes and more

I have had many lunches and suppers there off the self-serve buffet - delicious. Noodles, sushi, salads, wraps, etc. I also had a banana chocolate cake which was great and the summer rolls, that were fresh and yummy.

Pros: nice staff , nice new place, great food
