Delicious Greek Food, Vegan Style - Edit
If you're a vegan in Athens, wanting to try the local cuisine, this is the place to visit. A friendly welcome, and delicious food... what more is there to ask for?
Read moreIt's worth noting that the restaurant is quite small, so unless you want to sit outside (not recommended for February!), arrive early or make a reservation.
All round, Veganaki is a great place to spend an evening in Athens!

a tad disappointing - Edit
a 2.5 out of 5. nothing necessarily "bad" but pretty underwhelming. i had the falafel plate which was mainly tomato, the tabbouleh was essentially just parsley and the falafel were no better than supermarket bought ones. we also had the greek pizza, the sweet potato dough was a nice touch but had too many tomatoes as a topping which was not needed when there was a lot of sauce. overall was quite mushy and bland. both meals definitely needed a LOT more flavour. the peach iced teas were pretty nice and the staff were very friendly. considering this is the most expensive meal i have had in athens so far, i cannot help but be disappointed.

A great experience - Edit
It was off my route and far from my accommodation, but well worth the walk! Having loved Greek food ever since being a kid, this was a truly memorable one and the best of all, 100 % vegan. A nice platter (Veganaki special) for a solo traveler wanting to have a bit of this and that. Their cashew feta is the best ❤️

Two visits due to delicious food and great options - Edit
After being the first time there, we had time give up after sharing the appetizer platter.
Read moreOn our second visit, we had the Zucchini pie as a starter, going on with the Greek pizza and a special of the day, which was gyros on smashed potatos. We finished our meal with Kormos and the red fruits cream cake, which is my personal recommendation.
Great, nice and helpful staff, they recognized us directly on our second visit.

Abysmally bland and disappointing food - Edit
After reading all the 5 star reviews, we were very excited to try. First impressions the place looks fabulous and staff are friendly. The food, however, was utterly boring and uninspiring to want to eat. The soy chunks in the soy souvlaki are basically hydrated tvp balls, not even seasoned or pan fried. The entire dish is a total let down flavour and sauce wise. The vegan omlette was dry and bland, resonating a few day old microwave reheat. The vegan nut cheese was a poor attempt. Ultimately, we enjoyed none of it. Having been vegan for 33 years, these fall well below what is expected on today's culinary competitive vegan market. It felt like the love and passion to create amazing food has been lost.

Tasty and beautifully presented vegan food - Edit
We stopped here for lunch and ordered the Keftedakia and Greek Pizza. The Keftedakia was beautifully presented and tasty, as well. It was definitely a filling meal. The pizza looked like a pizza, but it had fresh ingredients and was also very tasty. The proportions of the dishes are perfect, as they're not too little, but not too much, either.

Ok - Edit
The service was very friendly and food came quickly. The portion size is quite big so you definitely won’t be hungry afterwards. Unfortunate the vegan moussaka was pretty disappointing. The cauliflower flower béchamel was missing the creamy richness of the original, the lentil sauce was missing the heartiness of the original. Eggplant was still a bit tough. Taste was bland altogether. Definitely had better vegan moussakas before. The Ice Matcha neither looked nor tasted like matcha, which was definitely a letdown for the price.

What a find! Apart from the fact that we were staying at an apartment quite near this place, we couldn't go home without trying it. And it was fantastic, though we had to leave something as we were completely full... But I swear I have to come back and try their moussaka since they ran out of it that day :(
