Not your traditional QUESADILLAS! - Edit
They look more like tacos, but don’t let that dissuade you from trying this heavenly dish of savory goodness!

Stylish and comfortable cafe with outdoor seating. Delicious tacos, fresh salad and a really delicious strawberry milkshake that wasn’t overpowered by coconut flavor. The menu had lots of options and the server was attentive and friendly.

Delicious vegan food - Edit
I got the sweet potato flautas, and they were phenomenal. There was hardly anyone there when I went, and I was served quickly.
Read moreUpdate: Docked one star because I came back here and got the avocado toast for breakfast. I also added tempeh bacon to the top. I was disappointed with the dish. It came with kale, but it was just that, kale. No dressing or anything. The toast itself would have been flavorless without the addition of the bacon, and they topped it with cheese which felt random. It was served on a very small plate, so I made a mess of the kale, getting it all over the table. Seems like the dishes might be more hit-or-miss.

Vegan deliciousness - Edit
So lovely to find this gem on our return trip to San Antonio. LOVE a vegan restaurant that serves breakfast first thing in the morning AND all day long as well. For the win it was the vegan slam for me, a yummy vegan version of a Denny’s grand slam. Husband had the enchiladas verde. Everything was delicious. Especially enjoyed the house made tortilla chips with queso.

Vegan brunch for the win! - Edit
I always have trouble finding a good place to get brunch food and Vegan Avenue didn't disappoint! The Mexican Hash was so flavorful and my bf loved his Cheezesteak Omlette. We ordered the chips and queso too which was good. Surprisingly great drip coffee as well!

Delicious Food - Edit
We came for dinner and ordered the asian kale salad (good overall, well done but nothing remarkable), the hot chicken sandwich (spicy, delicious, multi seed bun, crispy sweet potato fries on the side), and the sweet potato hash (delicious veggie combo with tangy sauce). Everything was delicious and fresh. We also shared the warm brownie a la mode, which was a perfect ending to our meal. The prices were reasonable and appropriate for the portion sizes and quality.

Delicious vegan chicken and waffles-YUM! The “chicken” was crispy and juicy and the waffle with fruit on top-wow! The vegan slam was also quite good and a really delightful cup of mocha made this brunch complete!

Tres leches - it’s been so long! - Edit
I went for savory (Mexican Hash- incredible!) and he wanted sweet. His vegan slam was great but the highlight of it was the tres leches pancakes. When my carnivore is happy, it’s a bonus! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!!!! #Veganuary

Vegan Paradise - Edit
No doubts this is #1 restaurant in San Antonio. In fact, Vegan Avenue has so many reasons to be the top vegan place in the city.
Read moreFirst of all, everything is gluten-free and extremely tasty. In addition, the ingredients are exceptionally fresh. Secondly, all the dishes are made from scratch, which helps to have a particular taste and won't get you sick or bloated at all.
Thirdly, SERVICE IS A 10, Tayra and D made my experience fantastic! Since I arrived on day 1 they really cared about my dietary restrictions and were exceptionally helpful.
Personally, I went every single day to have breakfast( pancakes are out of this world). Also, some days I went for dinner as well.
I will definitely recommend it for anyone who is looking for a wonderful meal.
I got really impressed by Vegan Avenue!

Good vibe - Edit
The vib is great and staff was nice, but not very attentive. Upon entering, I asked if I should seat myself. I was told yes. Then 2 families came in after me. A server went to the and got drink orders. Then someone finally came to me after about 7 -10 minutes. Then once my food came out , I had no napkins or silverware. I had to ask for them. My milkshake came out about 10 minutes after my food. The food and drinks were great. A server and either the owner or manager did come by a bit later to check on me. I eventually had to go up to counter to ask for my check, while the staff stood at counter. The music was great. I would return, but staff should be a bit more attractive.

It’s ok - Edit
I was excited to try their breakfast club sandwich but I was a bit disappointed, menu said it had a beyond sausage but it was a whole beyond burger patty. I am not a fan of beyond burger Patties. I ate the sandwich without it so it was still good but was missing a good breakfast sausage. Also wasn’t a fan of the coffee, really wish they had actual coffee creamers not just milk.

I really recommend trying this place! I’ve never had “Shroom and Grits” anywhere else, so that was fun. It’s a pretty heavy dish, but tasty! I also tried the Honee-butter Chick’n Sandwich, which was very good except for being a bit dry.

5 stars for the Chilaquiles - Edit
Stopped by here while visiting San Antonio. I got the chilaquiles which were amazing and my husband got the sweet potato flautas which were flavorful when mixed with the rice and beans. The cauliflower wings were meh too much sauce and breading. I want to return and try more of the brunch items the pancakes looked amazing.

There’s better options in town. - Edit
I’ve had experiences with Vegan Avenue to the extent of ordering their food online and getting it delivered. While it’s fair and tasty and a good vegan and gluten free option their service is incredibly hit or miss at the location.
Read moreI had gone when they first opened and seeing how busy they were it was understandable how I wasn’t sat right away. I realized that when I would be seated I saw that no one seated had food yet. Being hungry I realized it would be too long of a wait to sit around and wait. That was okay at this visit though. I’m local and they had just opened. I’m glad that a vegan option seems to be doing good business.
Over the next year I had ordered their food where I could comfortably wait at home for it to be delivered. Options like the Buffalo chicken sandwich and enchiladas were great. Very delicious.
Fast forward to a year later and the delicious food I have eaten at home I now want to try with my family visiting in town. That’s where things seem to still be off the rails here.
I go in and it’s not as busy, we stand around for 10 minutes or so then are told to just take an open seat. Someone then finally comes and takes our order of drinks and apps we want to order. We wait around longer just for drinks about 20 minutes or so. I’m trying to remain optimistic to support a vegan restaurant. I then see tables sat later not only get drinks but they also begin getting apps and staggered orders before us. Other tables begin questioning where the food is for the other half of their table while some people eat.
While I can understand the stagger of dishes coming out as they’re completed, I’ve now sat an entire hour at this point seeing all of this happen around me . I ask the waitress where our food is and she tells us our entrees are being worked on. We ask about the apps though and she kind of has a blank look not knowing what we’re talking about.
At this point it’s a year later, an hour into the second attempt to eat here and I’ve only gotten coffee in an entire hour.
We left after telling her to just cancel our entire order. I at least got a free coffee out of this. Not enough to make it right.
You deserve to eat at better run establishments in this city. This is not one of them .
Pros: Tasty food, when you can actually get it.
Cons: Long wait time , Poor service

Really good close taste wise to Plantology - Edit
My daughter and I have been here twice in the last two weeks. The food is really good, I would compare it to plantology which is our favorite vegan place. The burger I had today was kind of sloppy like while trying to eat it,it just fell apart and could used like a sear to it. I really reccomend the ceviche, chicken sandwhich and loaded fries. Shakes and lemonade are really tasty too. I can't remember our waitresses name but she had purple and light blue hair and is so amazing. She put up with my very inquisitive and talkative daughter so nicely and was just super sweet.

My first experience was with the Philly cheesesteak sandwich, which was delightful. I went back later that week while on vacation. The cocktail, salad, and buffalo cauliflower we had that time we’re all three a “miss” that day.
