Delicious!!! - Edit
Loved everything. Just my table was greasy and I had to clean it by my own, but the service was nice and we ate a lot. Was just a little bit oily, but I just ordered deep fried stuff, what could I expect? Lol

Osaka specialties, but for everyone! - Edit
The shop is small and very friendly. Server spoke excellent english. Meals are fairly priced and taste amazing! Keep in mind that Osaka food is mostly snack-sized - order three different ones to share with a friend and you'll be in foodie heaven without a long wait. This stuff is authentically Osakan, and every bite is amazing.

Unique food options for those with restrictions - Edit
It is hard to feel completely safe or even have the option to try traditional foods with celiac disease and that are vegan.
Read moreI really appreciate the care that the restaurant owners put into crafting the dishes. The menu lists every ingredient so you can be confident about what you're eating.
This is tied as my favorite restaurant in Japan for dining gluten free/vegan!
Things to consider:
- Food is made to order. Some items might take a while but you know they will be fresh. Just don't expect to eat here in a hurry.
- You may need to get the attention of the staff for water refills, further orders, etc. They run a small operation so that's understandable. Perhaps they can leave some water for self service?

Tasty Traditional Eats - Edit
Was pleasantly surprised by this place being not only vegan and gluten free but also very traditional where you have to take your shoes off before entering. Everything was very tasty. It was a fun experience rolling our own sushi, so much I forgot to take a picture till I was almost done. I love that they bring traditional eats in a healthy way to the vegan and gluten free community. My only complaint is the HappyCow address took us 10 minutes walking out of the way, however Apple Maps brought us to the correct location.

Traditional Osaka food - Edit
We had okonomiyaki, takoyaki and karaage - everything was delicious! Went there during lunchtime, so there were a lot of mothers with their children. Didn‘t know about the concept beforehand, but found it very interesting (they offer living room like spaces for mothers and their children to play, so they can enjoy a lunchtime with their kids)

Fresh and delicious - Edit
A wide selection of food- I was able to have takoyaki in Osaka this way! I also tried the karaage and hand rolls (temaki). You are given the temaki components and assemble them yourself at your table. I’m used to doing this at home, and I might need to buy their tableware set for this to better mimic their way as it all came together well!
Read moreMind that the default seating in the restaurant are low chairs with no backrests.
The restaurant is found in floor B1 of a building that is a ~5 minute walk away from Osaka station.
Price is decent for what you get.
Pros: Good variety, Friendly staff
Cons: A bit hard to navigate to, but that’s Osaka

Great options for local food - Edit
We ate here as a party of 3 and had a great meal. We ordered one portion of karaage, 5 pieces of kushikatsu, an okonomyaki and 20 takoyaki. This made for a good meal for us. I've been here once before so had a good idea of what to expect with regards to the food and surroundings.
Read moreI found the karaage were a little overdone, some pieces had a slight burnt taste and they were too chewy but overall they were still a tasty bite.
We got 5 different bits for the kushikatsu and they were all good, the sweet potato and soy meat were the highlights.
The okonomyaki was delicious, there was lots of cabbage for a crunch and some good soy meat chunks in there. The crunchy bits on the edges where the food had caught a bit added a nice bit of flavour and additional texture.
The takoyaki were the star for me. I've had some absolutely terrible vegan takoyaki in this city before and was much happier with the dish here. They were soft and gooey inside with just a little bit of bouncy texture from some of the mushroom bits inside.

Vegan and gluten-free traditional Japanese dishes - Edit
The restaurant is very low-key, located in the basement of a strip mall on a quiet street in downtown Osaka. The atmosphere is very homey and traditional - you have to take off your shoes and sit at a low table in a living room. Staff were friendly and spoke English.
Read moreThe menu features vegan and gluten-free versions of traditional Japanese dishes. The okonomiyaki was quiet tasty and came in a generous serving, but it was slightly burnt at the bottom. I did not get the takoyaki but it looked delicious, too.

Vegan and Gluten Free - Edit
We stopped by on a Sunday night.
Read moreThe place was busy and had a 15 min wait for a table.
We were excited to eat a complete vegan meal in Osaka.
Our server took our order. The food came out sporadically.
The french fries were cold. The gyoza was nicely prepared.
The fried “chicken”
dish was very chewy but had a nice spicy sauce.
We were unable to get drink refills, no water was served despite our request.
No service to clean up the table. When we ordered dessert, we initially just pushed all the dirty dishes to the side to make room for the desserts.
This was a 2 star experience but will get and extra star due to completely vegan and gluten free menu.
Pros: Vegan, Gluten Free
Cons: Food was average at best, Service was lacking

The Second Room Cafe - Edit
Venue
Read moreIt’s in the B1F of a shopping place. It’s plot 14 on the shop map. Once you’re a bit closer, you can’t really miss it thanks to the huge banner declaring itself gluten free and vegan outside. Shoes off before you enter the side room where you’ll be eating. Kinda reminded me of a school nursery/kindergarten in a way.
Service
I was greeted at the desk by a fluent English speaking member of staff. I was then taken to my table and handed a menu. The same member of staff came back maybe 5-10mins later to take my order.
Food
I ordered okonomiyaki, takoyaki and karaage with a coke. The karaage arrive first and was excellent. Salty and chewy with a lemon slice for drizzling on the juice as well as a sauce. The coke arrived just after. Then the okonomiyaki arrived and was also pretty great. Plenty of cabbage, plenty of sauce. Lastly was the steaming hot takoyaki. Soft and gooey innards. Crispy on the outside and slathered in sauce and green onions. Very good.
Price
Just shy of 4000jpy for everything. Kinda expensive in comparison to some places but I’d come here again.
