High quality food in a beautiful building - Edit
This restaurant is situated in a stunning building, so much so that lots of people will stop and take photos of it while you're eating, so you should sit inside of that's annoying for you. The staff were very welcoming and attentive.
Read moreWe ordered the salt and pepper fried tofu, 'chicken' rice and steamed pancake. Everything was really enjoyable and the quality of the food was as good as we've had in Vietnam. The salt and pepper tofu was especially good, and a perfect side to share, and I'd fully recommend the other two options as well.
It was quite expensive but the food was really excellent and the location was in a prime tourist area, so we'd expect to pay a bit more.
Pros: Beautiful building, Big menu of vegan options, Friendly and attentive staff
Cons: Expensive, but justifiably so

Delicious Food, Great Location - Edit
Located right next to the popular Morning Glory restaurant, in the heart of the old town, near the Thu Bồn River. Same boss/company as Morning Glory and Vy's Deli, so the V Vegan menu is also available at those eateries. Has both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff can speak English. On the pricier side for Vietnamese standards, but the ambience is nice and food is good, especially the Pan Seared Tofu Steak. Seemingly mostly with alliums; the menu does not label allium-free options. Staff told me the menu is fully vegan without egg or dairy, and the menu descriptions seemed vegan to me. However, seeing as some other reviews mentioned that the menu wasn't fully vegan (I suspect they might have been dining at Morning Glory or Vy's Deli instead), do verify with the staff again when ordering!

I want to move in - Edit
The only thing I could complain about would be that they had too much to offer, so I couldn't try it all.
Read moreWe went there several times and really enjoyed the cheesy curry in a clay pot and the different pancakes. The flambéed banana was the best I've ever had and the drinks were phenomenal.
Even as a gluten free, I could enjoy most if the menu.
Pros: Großartige vietnamesische Küche, Große Auswahl , Schön zum sitzen, zentral gelegen

Good vegan option on the River - Edit
Had V Vegan food while at Morning Glory Signature. I had the tofu steak with glass noodles. The glass noodles, mushrooms, and coconut curry was amazing. The pan-seared tofu was a little rubbery and there wasn’t a lot of it for it being a tofu dish. We also had the fried eggplant which is some of the best eggplant I’ve had.

Fantastic food in Hoi An! - Edit
Great food! 100% recommended. I loved the food and I went two days in a row.

My favorite dish was the crispy tofu, amazing!
I don’t give them 5 stars because they are not vegan. They use milk in some dishes…

Really nice food but really expensive for the sized portions. I easily feel like you could eat just as nice for half the price just down the road. But nonetheless great options, service and environment.

Best chicken rice ever - Edit
Wow!! The ‘chicken’ fried rice made with tofu was so so tasty and flavourful. It had everything, so many different textures and flavours. Could eat over and over again. Was quite expensive though.

New place in town to try! Even non vegan! - Edit
Great new Vegan place to try in town. Very surprised on the taste so far. So much flavors comes from the 2 dishes I had. I highly recommend U to try ‘Bún thịt nướng chá’ which is a Vegetarian BBQ pork with fresh rice noodle. Unbelievable good. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of it. The sea weed salads was exceptional too. Very similar than the clams salads one.

Wish I could rate it higher - Edit
Can unfortunately not rate this restaurant higher.
Read moreLong story short - some dishes are tasty. The staff is sweet but are very young and not properly trained by the owner.
I ordered salt and pepper tofu, which I was told wasnt spicy, but then it came with literally 4-5 chopped up chillies. Since I was told it wasnt spicy i took a big bite thinking it was red peppers and HELL! incredibly spicy chillies.
After torturing myself for 5 minutes trying to poke out all the chillies it was still very spicy so my girlfriend asked staff if there was anything to be done, who said she would ask the manager. The staff just stared awkwardly at us for 5-10 min debating what to do before the manager came to the table. I dont like conflict but tried to just ask if I could have the dish made without chillies, but with the same tofu pieces. The manager just kept saying "so it's okay, you eat it?" until I had to give a firm no.
He then came back after a while saying it was OK and that I didnt have to pay for the dish (nice) but left without asking if I wanted something else.
Later when we were about to pay we presented the receipt from our last dinner (you would get 10% off if you kept the receipt) and the waitress said that she couldnt give the discount since she has already printed the new receipt, and rudely said that we should have given her the receipt earlier (how would we know?) we just said OK, but obviously unhappy. the manager then called her over and fixed the discount so we could pay only the right amount.
In general i feel like this is the owners fault, not properly informing his staff on how to deal with complaints and how to use the system. The owner had six businesses, and I would rather support a small business owner.

Go There - It is the best! - Edit
Best vegan food we had in Vietnam. Even my meat-eating fiancé loved it. The atmosphere is unique and the staff was very friendly and helpful. So cheap compared to what you get. The place is new - only been there for a month. GO THERE! You will not regret it.

Subvert expectations - Edit
I am not sure how to write this review because we didn't actually go to V Vegan, but instead Vy's Deli across the river, which offered V Vegan's menu (on a very confusing system). But since V Vegan's name was on the menu, I figure this review deserves to be here as well.
Read moreWe were initially excited to see western dishes with cheese on the menu (the one that had V Vegan's name on it) after eating only at chay Vietnamese places for the past couple weeks. We asked the woman at the front if the cheese is vegan, and she said yes.
Because the place is on the expensive side for Vietnam, and since we didn't want to be disappointed with western food in Asia, so we tempered our expectations. We just wanted it to be passable enough to eat. Our expectations were subverted indeed because we couldn't even eat it as vegans.
When we got our food, the cheese looked and smelled suspiciously like it was made out of dairy. Just to be sure, I asked what the cheese was made out of, they answered, "mozzarella," and when I asked what the mozzarella was made out of, they answered "buffalo."
In my opinion, you can't call yourself a vegan restaurant if you have non-vegan items on the menu and fail to specify that it's not vegan. Or change the name to V Vegetarian. The management of this Vy's Deli/V Vegan would open a Halal place and serve pork.
At least they didn't make us pay for what we couldn't eat. So I gave them a star for that.
So if you go to Vy's Deli and see western dishes with cheese under V Vegan's menu, remember that it isn't vegan cheese!

Hello! I am in Hoi an right now and I don't think I am visiting this restaurant after reading your review. Perhaps you should notify happy cow that the place is not vegan. It's a pity that many vegans go there thinking they are eating cruelty free but actually they are not. Thank you for your review

Our favourite vegan food in Hoi An! - Edit
I was surprised when we walked past this place and then I couldn't find it on Happy Cow or Google - I assume it's new. Incredible food with lovely staff! We came back a second time and the food was just as good! Highly recommended. We had the Vegetarian Chicken Rice and the Spicy Rice Noodles. Both so good
