Best vegan bakery ever

I’ve been vegan for 24 years and this place had the best baked goods I’ve ever had! The chocolate croissant alone was worth the long trip to Japan. Other standouts: butter bread with yuzu, the glazed donuts, and the chocolate bun. The lemonade was also very refreshing. I could eat here every day!

Pros: All vegan, Out of this world deliciousness

Great options!

Everything was delicious! Located upstairs so google maps address was initially a little tricky. All the options were great, from sweet to savoury. Coffee probably the best I’ve had in Japan so far.

Pros: Friendly staff, Fresh, Many options

Cute bakery in a trendy location

There were so many options to choose from! They had mostly sweet options, but also a few savoury ones, eg. curry bread. We also got the seasonal sakura themed muffin and bread.

Lovely vegan bakery

My favorite vegan bakery shop provides various bread such as doughnuts, savory bread etc.
Vegan croissants are also lovely!!!
✴︎There is a place to eat outside only, so if you order drink at flux cafe is next to the bakery shop, you can enjoy eating them at the cafe.

Pros: A Gluten-free option is available.

Cons: There are tables and chairs outside only

Best vegan bakery I've been to

The tastiest bakes I've ever tried. And the coffee is just amazing.

Best Vegan Bakery In Tokyo

We visited both locations and were not disappointed. Best bakery with a variety of savory and sweet options. We tried a sweet and savory toast, both delicious but preferred the savory option. And later tried the red bean paste doughnut, a lemon glaze doughnut (not pictured), and a curry stuffed bread (not pictured because it was devoured). Would've gone back again if given the opportunity.

The donuts are amazing

I got the glazed donut and it’s the closest thing I’ve had to a Krispy Kreme donut since going vegan. So fluffy and delicious. Totemo Oishii desu!

Amazing vegan bakery

I loved the western (mushroom croque monsieur) and the Japanese bakes (curry pan, sweet potato doughnut, hojicha espresso pecan bread)! So so good. Plus great coffee!

Pros: Amazing bakes , Great coffee, Friendly staff

Cons: I wish they were open every day!

Bakery heaven

Oh my god the chocolate donut.. I don’t know how it has the right to be so delicious. I’m convinced anything made at Universal Bakes is bound to be amazing. The chocolate and raspberry croissant was so decadent and the salty bun with kelp inside was out of this world!

Epic donuts

I mean, we only tried 2 flavors and regretted not getting more!!! My favorite item ended up being a salty roll with kelp on the inside! So unique, and absolutely delicious

Worth a trip

Lovely bakery and well worth a trip here if you are in the area!

Tried the curry bread, cinnamon doughnut and the mixed bag of day old bread (sweet bean paste bread, raisin roll and sweet potato bread)

Doughnut and curry bread was very light and fluffy. Everything full of flavour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and descriptions were in English.

Lots of seating area outside to eat😄

Pros: Lots of choice , Tasty , Outdoor seating available

Cons: Drinks a little expensive

Best vegan chocolate croissant…

Chocolate croissants were my favorite before becoming vegan and I have yet to find a vegan version that matches the flaky texture that I remember. Well, the chocolate croissant they make here comes close enough. It was so good. I was impressed by the variety of donuts and pastries they offer at this all vegan bakery as well. Simply wow’ed. Every vegan should pay this place a visit if ever in Tokyo.

Pros: Amazing selection of donuts and pastries, Very nice staff

Cons: Only outside seating available

Very good bakes

I tried the old school chocolate donut and the coffee bun. The chocolate on the donut was very good but the donut was a bit too dry, still yummy though. The coffee bun was very delicious, recommend!

Very fresh and high quality!

Absolutely loved the salted rolls. Doughnuts holes or "children" were very fresh and light. You can't sit inside but there are benches and sub umbrellas outside. Friendly staff.

Delightful

Went to Universal Bakes Nicome after visiting Universal Bakes and Cafe and it was everything we had hoped for. There was a great selection of savoury and sweet treats - we got the gluten free donut and a chocolate roll. The cold brew was much needed on a hot day and delightfully smooth. Definitely worth a stop for a quick bite and some relaxing vibes.

Our new holy place

This small bakery was exactly what we hoped it would be.

A short trip from Shinjuku Station this place is absolutely not to be missed. They have an incredible range of sweet pastries and breads, as well as doing coffees and hot drinks.

The staff were also extremely friendly and before leaving we bought extra for breakfast the next morning.

I particularly recommend the cinnamon roll!

Pastries heaven

Savory muffins, donuts, croissants, etc. What more could I ask for? This shop is mainly for takeaway and sweet pastries while another store- Universal Bakes and Cafe has some seatings and food menu.

So many options

First off - Google Maps will give you the runaround. Best to get directions to "ENTRANCE HALL" Ary Gallery. Once you get there, the bakery is down the far end of the complex, on the upper level.

No indoor seating which is a shame on a rainy day such as today, but there's so many good looking options on offer, don't let the weather deter you.

I got banana French toast, a chocolate donut and a delicious looking muffin even though I have no idea what it is.

They also sell bread (vegan bread! In Japan!!), French sticks, oat/but bar, packaged vegan chocolate blocks, coffees etc.

Pros: Heaps to choose from

Cons: Nowhere to sit on a wet day

Great blueberry muffin, period

The doughnuts and toasts and other things looked awesome but I only wanted a humble muffin. (I often crave blueberry muffins and they are one of my favorite baked goods) Based on the muffin though, I’m pretty sure everything else is also great.
