Chinese vegan cuisine - Edit
After having amazing Chinese vegan food in Japan I was hoping London would be great too since China Town is so famous. Food was good but I've had better. I was a bit underwhelmed.
Read moreThe menu is quite extensive. I picked the fried rice and the xiao long bao dumplings. The rice was nothing to write home about and I didn't like the seasoning of the dumplings but that's just my personal preference. The crispy tofu was good.
Perhaps we should have tried some other dishes instead but the prices also made it hard to choose since we didn't want to have an expensive meal. We paid around 45£ for two people, which is not a lot for London but we were still a bit hungry when we left.

Our waitress offered her recommendations and we basically followed what she said. Everything was excellent! We especially likes the fish bao and the wonton dim sum. The customer service was also excellent from all. Highly recommend!

Wow - Edit
I was excited to visit as I’d heard such good things and it didn’t disappoint! Staff were super friendly and helpful, recommending dishes that would compliment what we had chosen. We had the noodles, wontons, gong bao tofu, fried aubergines and twice cooked fisc, which was outstanding. Excited for my next visit!

Favorite meal in London - Edit
I will be craving the spicy wontons forever. Perfect chili oily goodness. All of the noodle dishes were so good and salty and savory, and I was excited to try xiao long bao since it’s hard to find those veganized. We had this twice on our trip and I am wishing we had it even more.

Must visit - Edit
This was easily the best meal on our London trip, and by far the best vegan Chinese food I’ve ever had. I will be thinking about those wontons for years. Staff was very friendly and offered suggestions. All of the dishes we got were excellent, and I am genuinely sad that I do not live close enough to eat here regularly.

Not to be dramatic but maybe best place in the world? - Edit
I already had high expectations coming here and they were exceeded. I can't imagine anything on this menu wouldn't be out of this world. Really well cooked tofu and mock chicken, perfectly sticky sauces and really really friendly staff. Everyone should come here.

Came on a bit of a whim but my word what a meal. Helpful and friendly staff with plenty of recommendations, and the food was actually ridiculous. Was expecting good things since I’ve heard of this place before but all expectations were exceeded. Will come back

The deep fried aubergine was 10/10. I also got the special fried rice which was a bit bland on its own but a good accompaniment with the aubergine. Will be back to try other dishes!!

Excellent food - Edit
Because of our mindblowing dinner at Tofu Vegan in Gloucester Street, we wanted to have another dinner at Tofu Vegan. This time this branch was more convenient. The food was good, but the waitress was really pushy. She recommended different dishes than what we wanted to order and (almost) didn’t want to go along with our wishes. It became quite unpleasant. She was also condenscending towards the elderly people in our group.

Since going vegan I haven't been able to enjoy a cozy warm hearty hot & sour soup. Until now that is 😜 and it tasted better than I remembered! Everything was delicious.

We ordered the #1 Won Ton, the #7 dumplings, the #32 Sizzling Tofu and the mapo tofu. It all was amazing, especially the sizzling tofu and the mapo tofu harmonize so well with each other. Our waiter was also very hearty. It wasn't cheap but the taste was worth it.

Delicious vegan Chinese food! So much choice here - not just your usual tofu, but also mock meats such as vegan fish, chicken, and more. Try the spicy dumplings. Great service and convenient location too.

Read moreI tried the assorted dim sim and mouth-watering chick'n with celery in oil as I wanted to try something new. I find it quite expensive and they charge a service charge. My 3 items cost £28.60.
The Dim sim is alright and the chicken as a cold dish is not to my liking. I'm thinking maybe these dishes are not for me but might be more suitable for someone else's tastes. I'd probably stick to their recommended or favoured dishes if come here the first time. I did really love their wonton which I tried in Islington branch.
I also tried the sesame seeds rolls stuffed with red bean paste its like a crispy pancake on the outside and soft I side. I liked the sesame seed bits. Not too sweet which is great but would like a little bit of salt in it. Also think would like it with some caramel sause or something as I felt it was a bit dry though this might be moving away from the traditional form.
The menu has alot of vegetable dishes, make use of tofu and some mock meats. I wanted see more mock meat dishes. I like that they have a focus on the anet noted on their menus and uniforms.
The staff are very friendly and polite. They seated me eventhough I came 2 hours earlier to my booking. I also saw them seat others similarly. The waitress recommended some dishes and told me that some dishes might not be to everyone's liking. Another waiter who served me the dim sim explained the stuffing of each.
I would come again to try other items on the menu like the pumpkin lantern which is a pumpkin rice ball stuffed with lotus seed paste, the man & wife slices in spicy sause vegan version of chengdu Street snack served cold and the stir fried cumin lamm served with buns. Due to a language barrier with the waiter I was not certain of the lamm was a mock lamb or a vegetable as I wanted a protein dish.
The restaurant is quite popular so best to book online just incase.

Really nice - Edit
Tofu Vegan is quite pricey, but has nice food and great service. Our dishes were a little on the underwhelming side (I've had better mapo tofu that tasted more balanced) but perhaps I should have tried some other dishes instead. I recommend trying it out, though!
