I swear this 8 course meal was mind blowing. Some of the courses were truly the best food I ever tasted. Everything is perfectly balanced, and paired with the non alcoholic beverage package for each meal it was just divine. We had the fully vegan course.

Not great for vegans - Edit
Very tasty meal, but I was disappointed that the vegan option was often not up to par with the vegetarian option. This was especially evident in the cheese course where the vegetarian option was some elaborately prepared local cheeses and the vegan option was an unseasoned fuzzy parsnip (after a parsnip themed course).

Expect very small courses (even for a tasting menu experience, they were tiny), disappointing vegan options, and a very nice setting. I think I say enough when my favorite course was the bread course because I got more than two bites of it. And generally I hate bread courses because they feel like a cheap filler in the middle of a nice meal. So… yeah. Not great
Overall I am glad I dined here, but I would not repeat the experience nor can I honestly say it is worth the price.

We are sorry that the vegan option could not fully meet your expectation regarding to taste and price.
When selecting our products from mostly small farmers and producers, we do not only pay attention to regionality and seasonality, but also to organic an Demeter quality, for which we are very happy to pay our suppliers more than the average price. This is also reflected in our menu price, just like the fact that 18 service and kitchen members are working on during the evening to make it special for our guests.
Due to higher costs at all levels, we had to adjust our menu price.
Our menu size is based on experience values, therefore, we are sorry that the courses were too small for you. Apparently, our bread course called “back to the root” should not be a cheap filler, it should be a small reminder to our guests, that it does not matter how simple the ingredients are, quality is most important.We would like to recommend you the TIAN Bistro in the 7th district, where we serve a more inexpensive sharing menu with several vegetarian or vegan dishes to share.
We hope to welcome you soon again at one of our TIAN locations to surprise you anew!

You won’t regret the $500+ price tag! - Edit
You get what you pay for and despite the very high cost- this place was 10000% worth it. Splurge for the wine pairing too because it made the experience that much more enjoyable. Every dish was innovative, beautifully plated, came paired with delicious wine and of course tasted incredible. We didn’t want the night to end!

I lucked out. I didn’t know much about this restaurant but when I showed up without a reservation it just so happened that someone had canceled (which I was told was rare and later told that it books up 3 weeks in advance). So first thing first, make your reservation at least 3 weeks in advance! Second: price-wise it’s not for everyone! The 8 course dinner starts at 140€, drinks and optional pairing extra.

This is a gourmet restaurant. I went there for dinner and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in that kind of restaurants. You’ll get an explanation for every dish and if you choose to have the menu with wine, you’ll get a glass matching each dish. If you’re vegan, specify when reserving.

Tian Vegetarian Restaurant in Vienna was one of the most unforgettable culinary experiences I have ever had in my life. Being a Michelin star restaurant, this is exactly what you’d expect. However, Tian has some extras.
Read moreIn French, Tian is the name of a vegetarian stew and in Chinese, it means heaven. So, it would be safe to call Tian “a vegetarian heaven” because it truly is a vegetarian heaven; a classy one.
The Menu at Tian works like this: Every night, there are two set menus. You can choose dishes from both.
4 course menu with wine pairing or without
6 course menu with wine pairing or without
8 course menu including 2 surprise courses with wine pairing or without
Tian is a vegetarian restaurant with vegan options. There are many items on their menu with “vegan possible” sign against them.
The service at Tian is quite elegant, too. It was paced well according to the number of courses. At the time of booking we had a chance to talk to Tian’s sommelier Christoph. Our waitress, Helene, was attentive without being intrusive.

I eat here once per year with a friend. Very high-end. Multi-course meals extremely creatively thought out, with imaginative drink pairings (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Extraordinary for vegans. We ate there a couple of weeks ago and had a remarkable roughly 12-course dinner. Impeccable service. A real treat.

Read moreYou get to taste some rather exotic ingredients (salsify, for example) prepared in different unusual ways (foamed, for example). It is definitely beyond my own cooking skill or anything that can be found in a normal restaurant, and it has its appeal. Still, going to a place like Tian is not something I would do more than once or twice a year. And I would not call it a good place to go if you are just looking to have a fast and satisfying meal.

We sat on the terrace in front. It was a lovely Summer evening (only downside was there is a theater opposite, and a coach bus came dropping of guests and stood still stationary a long time).

We've been to Tian twice now and it was always a terrific evening.

Another thing that is really great about this place is the staff. They made us feel very comfortable every time and paid close attention to our needs. In a conversation with the waiter we casually mentioned my girlfriend's allergy to almond and they adapted the whole menu for her.
