Cheap and wholesome - Edit
Canteen where you can point at dishes. Meals are 3-5$, you might have to get 2 plates if you are hungry. Taste experience is meh but for 4 bucks it's certainly fine.

Personally think this is one of the few vegetarian caipng stall that aren’t stingy with the portion.

Can get really crowded during lunch and dinner.

If you've just come out of the Aljunied MRT, turn left and you can see a row of stalls. Right in front, near to the left is Tian En Vegetarian Food. It's a place where you get to pick dishes, with a wide variety. Food prices are rather cheap, around $2++ for a meal. They also have lotus root soup with guchi berries, corn, dates etc added.
