We enjoyed visiting The Vegan Indian. As other reviews say the service isn’t stellar, hence the four stars - but this isn’t something we were bothered by. The food was great but we clearly had eyes bigger than our belly because we couldn’t finish it all! Honestly I think if you’re going to get starters and/or sides, one meal is big enough for two but it was nice to try different dishes. We had samosas, vegan chicken biryani, vegan chicken tikka masala and garlic naan.

Delicious curry dishes and also tandoori! Can be made very spicy upon request. I had a coconut mango drink that was very good. Also many gluten-free friendly dishes!

Perfect location in Amsterdam this is my place to go before a theatre show. Been here a couple of times and the food is really good! They have a separate vegan menu card which is very big!

As mentioned by others, it’s a restaurant that also serves meat with a separate vegan menu. But there were so many vegan options on that menu that it didn’t bother me. The food was tasty, however, we waited around 45 minutes until the food was served.

The restaurant is very good. All the food is tasty and fresh and the potions are verry generous. Otherwise I didn't like that they pretend to be a vegan restaurant. The vegan indian dosn't exist, its just a menu vegan in the Bollywood restaurant. They do have a full and ellaborated vegan menu. Everything we tried was very very tasty. The rice is included and we didn't know so we had too much food. Its very expensive.

I know a lot of reviews state this place is not fully vegan but I do like their separate vegan menu. Most restaurants serving meat have limited vegan options, this one has a lot. Also you will rarely find an Indian restaurant serving vegan meat dishes. I tried the food with home delivery - the plant based chicken madras curry which was really hot (even for me) but nonetheless, tasty. Vegan mango lassi is good too! Personally, I’m quite impressed.

We had to ask for a vegan menu. Spent more to have the vegan chicken biyani based in rice but enjoyed it - that is too big for one, better to shareit. Also enjoyed saag kofta alot, this is hard to find vegan. Paneer (tofu) tikka masala was good but had big onion pieces in it we just dont like. Servings generally are standard for Indian restaurants, good for sharing, each came with rice.

My partner and I ate dinner here on an early Friday evening. We were lucky to have arrived just in time (around 18.00) before the small restaurant filled up quickly.
Read moreThe food was delicious and freshly prepared. The portion sizes were decent, neither of us had space for dessert after our main course. If we had ordered starters, we would not have been able to finish everything.
The staff was friendly, quick and efficient while very busy serving all the tables. Together with the minimal table furnishing (paper placemats on bare tables, no decor) the bustling servers gave the restaurant more of a diner athmosphere. Personally, we did not mind as we got good value for our money and got to leave on time for our further evening plans.
We would definitely come back again!

As many people have stated already this is NOT a vegan place. It is a place that sells dead animals and has a separate vegan menu. Of course, you can never be sure that what you're getting is actually vegan in this case.
