We went there 2 times: Amazing!! Not even in Italy did we have such amazing Italian pastries (sweet and the salty). And that's saying a lot as my boyfriend's Italian and we're in Italy at least 4 times a year.

Nice morning stopover! Focaccia with vegan sausage, coffee. Slightly expensive, but worth supporting vegan. I didn't find the staff impolite but rather quite friendly. If they had been able to heat up the focaccia, it would have been even better

Love the pastries - but the people working here are often incredibly rude and the prices were raised by a lot, while the pastries got smaller and smaller. I still come once in a while - just because the pastries are literally incredible and also the savory options are delicious!

Read moreThe quality of this place is outstanding and I can t decide whether I prefer the sweet or the savory offer. The pastries are amazing, I was blown away by the pistachio cream in the girella and in the cannoncino, and the Choco cream in the Choco cornetto. Not to mention the savory offer...that salsiccia and patate and margherita brought me back to my summers in the south of Italy.

I love Italian bakeries but I’ve never tried one that was fully vegan before The Sanctuary. I’ve been a few times now and every single thing I’ve tried is five stars, would recommend anyone to come here!

We gingen voor ontbijt en hadden moeite met kiezen tussen alle verschillende soorten croissants en andere zoete baksels. Degene met pistache vulling waren ook heerlijk. In de middag zijn we nog teruggekomen om een aant focaccia's uit te proberen en die waren ook heerlijk.

We hit this place at just the wrong time as they were full of sweet treats but only a few savoury. I thought this might be as we were slightly late in the afternoon, however they actually restocked the savoury pastries while we were there. The assortment was amazing! We tried 2 sweet and 2 savoury options. They were fantastic. I wish it was near my house! Even if you are far this place is worth making a journey for! Also nice iced latte!

The Cornetto and cannoncino that I had were top of the line. The focaccia was extremely oily, especially the onion one. It soaked a napkin through completely and I ended up tossing it. The baresina was edible, but still more oily than I would like.

Read moreI had a pistachio girella, which was great. This was a big pastry with lots of pistachio cream filling. The pastry was good and crisp too. I had a gianduja and pear brioche. This was tasty but I instantly regretted going for something soft rather than a pastry. It was good but I found the balance a bit off. It felt like the pear was overwhelming the gianduja. Then, when I picked off the pear, I found the gianduja was a bit too rich for me.
My partner had a black croissant that was filled with raspberry and white chocolate. A black croissant always looks a bit more exciting, it was generously filled with a good balance between the chocolate and fruit.
We also picked up some savouries to have on the journey home. The margarita pizza focaccia was hearty and tasty with plenty of sauce and cheese on top.
We also got some Saccottino salame, cacio pepe, fico - a pastry filled with salami, cheese and fig. This wasn't great. It was a bit too sweet for me with the pastry and the fig. There was quite a thin slice of meat in there and I didn't really get much flavour from any cheese and pepper.
The cafe itself isn't very welcoming. There's not a lot of seats and there's no toilet to use either.

Great pastry and large variety. Unfortunately the staff is quite unfriendly and there is no good indoor seating. Maybe this is due to the long lines? Also they often close early without notice, which is the worst when you’ve gone an hour out of your way to get there. Also there is no bathroom.

Came all the way across the city for the promise of lovely cakes, only to see it randomly shut at 13:30, well within opening hours. Very frustrating when businesses don't care enough to be open when they say they will.

Grateful I Came Back - Edit
I am here in Berlin teaching a study abroad group, and I tried to come here the first time to no avail. They were already sold out of the sweet pastries about midday. I resolved to come back at opening hours, and I was not disappointed. I brought back a box of pastries to enjoy and to share with my colleagues, and everything was delicious. Highly recommend!
