The dishes that we had were delicious but we had to wait an hour and a half for them. Also found them quite pricey, even for Amsterdam standards

The menu is quite interesting and offers different main dishes for each day of the week the restaurant is open. I didn't know this, so I didn't come on the day that offered rendang and roti which I was really hoping to order. In any case, we ordered a chickpea stew which came with potatoes, plantain, and cabbage. Each component of the dish was uniquely spiced and tasted good. Tempeh skewers were good too. Overall though, the food is a bit pricey for the portions given.

Gorgeous atmosphere. Came in on a Sunday evening, not too many folks but this is definitely a slow paced business. Dishes were fragrant. The soursop juice/smoothie was the perfect dessert.

The interior of The Old Soul is super cozy and the staff was very friendly.
The dumplings were unfortunately not for me, I found them very dry. The sauce was tasty! The Akuba Moksi Alesi, on the other hand, was very tasty and I definitely recommend it.😊 The avocado cake was nice, but very pricey, which for me was not worth it.

We had never eaten Surinamese food and we loved everything we tried. The cassava fries with jackfruit were cooked to perfection. The pumpkin soup divine. We shared a bowl (can’t remember the name) and it was really good.

She manages to do things well because she sets the menu for each day of the week. We wished we lived here because we’d love to try more. She’s been open one year and we wish her much success.

Lovely owner, nice friendly staff in a small restaurant with a cosy, relaxed vibe. It was full on a thursday at 1900, we had reserved a table. Staff had a good timing and no long waits. We had two starters, shared a soup, had two mains, two honemade juices, a bottle of water and a dessert for 75,-. Nice food, wonderfull evening catching up with a non vegan friend. Very reasonable priced, all homemade. Recommended!

Het sapje wat we besteld hadden met gember was echt onwijs lekker! Heel goed gemaakt. Het eten was echter matig. Mijn pom burger met bijgevoegde zoete aardappel frietjes waren koud, terwijl we de enige in het restaurant waren dus het was niet druk. En mijn tafel genoten waren ook niet zo te spreken over hun eten. Het was oke maar niet top.

It was nice to try Surinamese foods as I have never had them before, especially vegan. However the dish was not explained that well and the different tastes of the constituents od the meal felt like they did not fit together much. Prices were rather high as well

Op kerstdag hier gaan eten was geen goed idee - Edit
We hadden een 3 gangen kerstmenu besteld. Het gratis drankje was voor mij niet te drinken, te véel gember. Voorgerecht verkeerd gebracht. Hoofdgerecht was ontzettend lekker. Het dessert, een limoentaart, kwam recht uit de diepvries en was nog niet ontdooit. De bediening zei dat we het dan maar nog even moesten laten staan!? Er werden ons 5 warme dranken aangerekend maar hadden er maar 2 besteld. Omdat de taart bevroren was, kregen we uiteindelijk de warme drankjes van het huis. De bediening was traag en leek er niet echt bij te zijn. Bij andere mensen hadden ze een fles wijn te veel aangerekend. Het was niet druk, dus daar kon het niet aan liggen. Verder was het er koud. Helaas veel te duur voor wat het was. Misschien is het er beter op andere dagen? Ik ben er gegaan omwille van de goede reviews.
