Amazing!

I've been wanting to go here for a while,so finally have on an overnight stay to Brighton. I had the vegan cod and chips and oh my,they were so good! Best I've ever tried. Highly recommend! Try the tartare sauce,it's brilliant. Chips were very good. Chunky and cooked to perfection.
Taste was amazing, portion size just right and lovely staff.

Pros: Friendly , Quick , Excellent food

Cons: Wish they did breakfasts

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had and big portions!

The fish and chips were sooo good. This is my first time having vegan fish and chips and they couldn’t have been better. If you’re a fan of fish and chips then definitely go here! Even if you’re not, my boyfriend is not a huge fan and he loved it too! We got two larges and didn’t finish all of it. Definitely get the vegan tartar sauce too!

Pros: Fish and chips were amazing, Large portions, Good tarter sauce

Incredible!!!

Tried this at Vegan Campout. I’ve wanted to try it for so long and did not disappoint.

Incredible how this tasted what I remember fish to taste like, texture and flavour was incredible. Also my other favourite was the vegan calamari honestly amazing! Both my partner and I were blown away!!

Now I need to get myself to Brighton so I can try more on the menu.

Pros: Incredible flavours and texture, Lovely staff, Worth the money

I love vegan fish!!!

As a certified vegan fish LOVER, This meal was perfect for me. Had the haddock and chips and then tempura prawns on the side, the haddock was so amazing and the prawns were a great lighter side. Will add as well that we also bought a gherkin which was magnificent . best gherkin i’ve ever ever had. Thanks no catch! Thanks Ed!

Pros: Lovely haddock, friendly and fast , amazing service

Faithful but pricy and not for me taste wise

People I ate with said it was accurate tasting, but wasn’t for me; more of a personal preference I think. Also pricy for mostly chips

Superb 🐟 VCO 24 🌱

Amazing fish and chips - such a good imitation! And the chips were tasty too.
The calamari was a little rubbery and I’ve been told it shouldn’t be as crispy. Otherwise, a fantastic meal!

Pros: Fish, Tasty chips , Speedy service

Oh my cod!

This is the first meal we had at VCO 2024. The chips were fried to perfection and I was very glad that you could help yourself to the salt, vinegar and ketchup. The “cod” tasted absolutely phenomenal, the nori being a fun but also surprisingly tasty touch. I could not, however, justify the price for the portion. Fish & chips are known to be an affordable meal option and though these are festival prices, the size of the meal was lacking. They also didn’t serve any mushy peas this year which made it very starch-heavy. The tartar sauce was just okay, could’ve used a bit more sauce. But the cod is a must-try!

Pros: Amazing “fish”, Friendly staff

Cons: Overpriced, No mushy peas :(

Incredible

Honestly this place is amazing, I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been and I’m still excited to go back. The chips are SO GOOD! I’ve tried both types of sausages, the prawns and the calamari, it’s all so delicious if a little pricey, I wish I could have a bit of everything on the menu each time I go. The tartare sauce is also really delicious. The dessert, deep fried Oreo’s is a really yummy treat as well. Go here if you’re in Brighton!

Fantastic vegan chippy

Been looking forward to going here for a long time (we aren’t from Brighton) and it didn’t disappoint. Regular cod and chips and large battered sausage and chips with mushy peas and calamari too. It was all delicious and hope to visit again during our two remaining nights here!

Great fish n chips

This place has been on my list of places to try for a while. I had the cod n chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. Absolutely delicious. Now I need to go back and try some of the other things on the menu. How lucky that as a vegan I can enjoy traditional fish & chips by the sea.

They’ve actually done it

I’ve had a few vegan fish and chips over the years which have ranged from bland to good but not all that fishy or chippy. They’ve actually managed to make a version that absolutely nails it and tastes damn good.

The batter is perfectly crisp, the faux fish is surprisingly flavorful, and the chips are *insanely* good. If you’re familiar with Kenji Lopez-Alt’s technique for extra crispy roasted potatoes, these are basically the chip version of that: creamy fluffy inside and a craggy blistered exterior with the exact right amount of snap and crunch.

It’s truly a proper fish and chips shop with none of the cruelty. So go grab an order, throw a dash of vinegar on the chips, and sit outside and enjoy the view of the ocean.

Seafront tofish and chips

Loved it! Tried the tofu cod and chips and it did not disappoint. Sat and enjoyed them on the Brighton sea front in the sunshine. Texture of the tofish is great too 🍟

Great fish and chips!

Such a great location as it is across the road from the beach.
The "cod" and chips were honestly so good!

The mushy peas were okay. They were honestly like lava - super hot, and very peppery.

Pros: All vegan , Good price

Cons: Mushy peas

A Good fish and chips

Tofu based one was described as smoked flavour and the other called Cod which I had was not. It perhaps would have been nicer and less wasteful if things had been served on none disposable cutlery and cups.

Pros: Nice food, Pleasant atmosphere

Cons: I would have prefered real plates and cutlery.

Highlight of any Brighton trip

Delicious food, my non-vegan partner wished he’d ordered from there rather than the traditional shop! Cod and chips is great - nori is used as a replica fish skin and adds a fishy flavour which makes it different to other fish alternatives I’ve had (eg battered banana blossom). It does mean if you aren’t a fan of fishy flavours you’re better opting for the sausage.

Pros: Tasty food , All vegan!

Best fish & chips a vegan could hope for

Delicious and surprisingly ‘real’ tasting fish. Mushy peas and tartar sauce also didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend taking it to the Hole in the Wall pub round the corner to enjoy with a pint. Heard sausage & saveloy good too…
