Nice place for lunch or just a stop - Edit
Because it’s on the corner of the street in a liveable neighbourhood and it has big glass windows, you can seat and just watch the time passing by observing. The environment have this 90/2000 style playing classing punk rock and ska. The food is quickly made and fresh.

AMAZING - Edit
We started with the soy pork nachos, then I had the southern combo and my non vegan husband had (and loved!) the unchicken caesar wrap. We both also tried the mash and gravy. Everything was amazing.

Good comfort food - Edit
I ordered the southern combo. I really enjoyed the greens and the chicken was decent. Wasn’t feeling the macaroni too much.

Not impressed - Edit
Maybe I had high expectations from this place based on reviews on here. I thought poutine was alright, nothing to write home about.

Poutine Please! - Edit
No trip to Toronto would be complete without indulging in Poutine! It was the primary reason for my visit to The Hogtown Vegan.
Read moreThe Poutine Dream ($14) showcased fresh-cut fries, seitan strips, crispy fried onions, Daiya cheese, and rosemary gravy. Regrettably, the seitan strips and crispy fried onions seemed to have missed the invitation to my plate. The cheese could have been more melted, but the rosemary gravy was the hero of this poutine! It delivered pure Thanksgiving bliss, making it truly exceptional and a delight to savor with each bite.
The Southern Combo ($16) for dinner unveiled a trio of delights. The bacon collard greens were a standout, hitting the spot, although slightly on the salty side. The unChicken's texture was spot-on, but a more robust crunch would have elevated the unchicken even more. The sassy BBQ sauce created a harmonious infusion of flavor and was the best complimentary part of the meal. The mac n’ cheez woke up my taste buds with its spicy kick of heat. While it may not have been intended to be spicy, I still enjoyed it.
Additional notes: The server consistently displayed kindness, making a few thoughtful check-ins. The lighting, though a tad dim, set a cozy atmosphere. The downstairs bathroom might pose challenges for those with mobility issues. While it leaned toward the pricier side, the spot is an ideal haven for late-night vegan comfort cravings, catering to both vegans and non-vegans with its diverse appeal.
Was it the best vegan food I've ever had? No. Was it on the pricey side? Yes. However, I believe they have room to grow. I also think it's a great place for beginning vegans and friends of vegans! For that, I'm giving it a 4. My true score is about a 3.7.

Got the Reuben and I loved it. My partner got the chicken and waffles and it was so good. My omni friends got the fish and chips and they said it was so good. I also tried it and it was on point. My omni friends said it was the best vegan mac n cheese they've tried.

Satisfying brunch - Edit
I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and waffles here! The Mac and cheese wasn't to my liking on its own, but it tasted great mixed in with the bacon collard greens. The service was great at The Hogtown Vegan, and there was a lot of seating available.

Outstanding Comfort Food! - Edit
We experienced The Hogtown Vegan via Doordash on a recent trip to Toronto, and the meal was fabulous from start to finish. The unChicken burger, the fries, and the coleslaw were all perfect, and my wife felt the same way about her unChicken Caesar Wrap, fries, and MacNCheeze. We topped the whole thing off with the Waffle Sticks, a creative and delicious dessert of waffles coated in cinnamon, then doused in chocolate sauce. Though they sound decadent, they were surprisingly light and wonderfully flavorful. Consider The Hogtown Vegan added to my list of Toronto favorites!

Comfort Southern Food - Edit
I was craving carbs and comfort. This did not disappoint. I ordered in because I could not go out. It arrived quite quickly. I took the Southern Combo with a side of mash and gravy. The Mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, but not too much. Would have loved a bit more spice, some smokiness/jerkiness, in there, but I know I tend to exaggerate with the spice level. The gravy on the mash was very tasty. The un-chicken was veeery good. Crispy and flavourful. The barbecue sauce was also a hit. The collard greens were good but be warned, they were extremely garlicky, so not good for a pre-meeting lunch. I also bought a cute tote. They were raising money to repair damages caused by vandalism and I could not resist. It’s super cute and simple. Perfect for a casual day.

YOU MUST EAT HERE! - Edit
Okay y’all. This spot is heaven. My server was very friendly & attentive. I ordered the Southern Platter & was very pleased. I was born & raised in the deep south in the US & they absolutely nailed the southern comfort food flavours. Probably THE best mac & cheese I’ve ever had. Highly HIGHLY recommend. Don’t forget to order dessert!!!

Who still uses Daiya in 2023 - Edit
We were craving comfort food during the snow, and ordered the southern combo and the Philly cheesesteak. The Unchicken was maybe tofu? It was bland. The mac’n’cheese was spicy and rubbery. Collards were good. Cheesesteak was somehow dry and oily at the same time.
