Tried and fell in love at Veganuary Fest

Honestly one of the best burgers I have ever had! Also, the saying “Came for the burger but stayed for the fries” is sooo fitting, because their loaded fries were 10/10 ⭐️

I had:

Beef brisket loaded fries
The Hogless burger

Pros: Fully vegan , Fake meat wasn’t too .. meaty , Portion sizes

Good

I had a roast with trimmings bun and tater tots (incorrectly called hash browns) and particularly liked the almost Chinese seaweed reminiscent seasoning on the tots.

The bun itself featured some yummy bread but the filling, for me, was a bit vegan 1.0 - the crackling not quite flavoursome enough or 100% there texture wise, the soya a little too obviously vegan to fool anyone in terms of taste, texture and sight. It was good, fine, and filled a hole - but at £10 a pop, I did expect it to be better and have had better elsewhere at lower prices. Worth going to if you're in the area but not worth a special trip in my opinion.

Tasty but pricey and a bit of a let down

The brisket fries were tasty but could be a bit more saucy for dirty fries. The fries themselves were probably the best bit.

The hogless bun was tasty but barely anything in it. Was very disappointed as it has so much potential!

Also £3.20 for a can of drink is scandalous.

Pros: Fries, Brisket

Cons: £3.20 for a can of coke, Hogless sandwich

Unique flavours

I tried the Hogless Roast at VCO 2025, in particular the Loaded and the Burger. Both were very good, very meaty. For my tastebuds its a little bit too meaty, but the texture and flavour is amazing and I'm very happy that I tried, and I would definitely go to the restaurant to try some of their other dishes if I have the chance. Must visit!

Believe the hype

Went today for the first time and it won’t be the last. The hogless burger was outstanding. Can’t say if it’s like pork as I’ve never eaten it but the burger was pretty near perfection with a brilliant combination of juiciness and crispness. Shame it wasn’t busier.

Must try

The hogless burger is amazing, flavourful and usual. There is also a nice outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant.

Never had a sandwich like it

If you’re a vegan who doesn’t like realistic mock meats, stay far away. This place hits the spot for an indulgent sandwich. Truly shocking!

Pros: Insane mock pork , Flavor off the charts

Excellent food

The hogless burger is unlike any veggie burger I've ever had. Is it like pork? Dunno - it's 30 years since I last had it. But it was just brilliant. The bacon cheeseburger was also excellent, up there with the best veggie burgers I've ever had - better than Paris's Green Farmer's which is about the highest praise I can give - my omni friend also really genuinely loved it and he usually hates fake meat products, saying they nailed the dirtiness and flavour. The burger buns were perfect, not merely a conduit for keeping your hands clean but a tasty part of the sandwich itself. The beef brisket fries were really great too - both of us a big thumbs up for this chips and gravy variant. The other loaded fries, had we not had three of the best junk food things of all time, would have been pretty good anywhere else - but they were a distant fourth to the rest. Still ate every last crumb of them though. Yes it's expensive - £40 for two burgers and two fries. But it was super tasty and I would go again. I am going again in fact, in three days' time!

Gorgeous food

I was so excited to try this after hearing wonderful things.
I had the classic hogless roast burger and it was beautiful!
Only downside was that the price was a lot for the amount of food I got. Maybe it's just the price of food in London but as someone on low income I couldn't afford to get sides as well and I left still a little hungry.
Would recommend for a snack

Great burgers and fries

We came across The Hogless Roast by chance at their new spot in Walthamstow just the day after they had moved there. A great find!

Burgers and loaded fries were both good, really fresh and tasty, and the person working there was helpful too. We liked that the menu is different to other vegan takeaways, and they have gluten free options too (just ask).

If you’re going to eat in, the Crate venue can get a bit cold to sit in if there aren’t many people there, so take an extra layer if it’s a chilly night.

Sunday Roast

We just had to order the Hogless Sunday Roast! The yorkshire pudding was really good, and the Hogless bap dipped in gravy was soo good. We really enjoyed it, so 5 stars for the food! We can see why it's so popular. The meat substitute was spot on.
But 3 stars given as sadly we had an issue with the payment and ended up paying twice for the same order. It was an ordering system using an app. This happened as my husband tried to pay but it wouldn't accept his credit card, so we used a different card and that went through. Two lots of food came out, for the same order number (not two separate orders). The extra food we ended up taking home so we got what we paid for, but it's not the type of food that's good heated up so we didn't particularly enjoy it second time round. So we spent an extra £37 (approx) for food we didn't want. We have never had a problem using these ordering apps before.
The food seems to come out of a shared kitchen space with other food businesses so it's not like we could speak to the owner at the time. So just be careful when ordering!

Absolutely Amazing

I discovered the Hogless Roast at an event at the Colour Factory a couple of years ago. My omnivorous friend said it was the best mock meat he'd ever had, and that if all plant-based food tasted like that, he'd easily become a vegan. It was an easy choice then to book them for catering my wedding this year. All the communications were kind, clear, and professional, and they were so patient as I faffed about, changing my mind about what we wanted. All the guests at our wedding were bowled over by how good the food was. I cannot recommend Hogless highly enough. They're ethical, hygienic, and delicious. It feels so good to support a business doing everything right. If I lived nearer, I'd be there all the time!

Pros: Next-level deliciousness, Excellent hygiene rating, Lovely staff

Caeser salad (summer special) was great and bigger portion that expected. Hogless roast burger was good, great texture for the plant based pork.

Elite vegan junk food

Just ate here tonight and wow it was AMAZING. I tried the hogless burger and it really was delicious, I’d highly recommend trying it even if you’re not sure on it. Thoroughly enjoyed trying something different at a vegan burger place!
We also had the nuggets which were super tasty and had a lovely texture, and the buffalo fries which came smothered in cheese, buffalo sauce and spring onions, amazing!!

Just really great

I didn’t want to go for a burger at VCO since I find them a bit basic. It is usually the only option you can get at a non-vegan restaurant. But boy oh boy am I glad I got the Hogless burger for lunch. The pork tastes insane and has nice crispy edges and the apple relish is a great balance for the grease. It is very expensive for just a burger though, but also filling. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did, definitely recommend.

Pros: Unique, Executed perfectly

Cons: Staff was pretty direct.

I finally get the hype… VCO 24 🌱

Didn’t visit at VCO last year because the queue was so long.
Oh. My. Worth the wait this year.
Burger and gravy chips were DIVINE.
Run, don’t walk. 🙌🏻

Best Vegan Burger I've Ever Had

You can't go wrong with Hogless Roast. I had them for the first time at Vegan Camp Out and OMG, life changing burger. The Hogless Burger is just insane - I love the fake crackling. The tater tots are just like pillows of heaven! Get this in Hackney or delivered on Deliveroo!!
