Downtown Norfolk on a Sunday isn’t ripe with choices, so we wound up stopping in here before heading to the airport.
They have vegan cheese, and we grabbed two sandwiches (I got the Don Quixote, which is vegetarian by default but you can sub vegan cheese). We noticed after ordering that prior reviews on here we’re concerned about whether it’s vegan or not, but we asked and the server did seem to understand the concern. She explained they use oil instead of butter when grilling if someone orders it vegan, and they didn’t note anything about the bread.
That being said, you do end up eating something uncanny because the grill mixing is probably unavoidable in this space over the course of a day and their vegan cheese does actually melt. It’s probably worth confirming your order with them to be sure - and if you find something different, def update this listing.
Otherwise, fingers crossed that it’s what I ordered lol
I really wanted to like this place. I ordered the caprese with vegan cheese and GF bread however they were out of vegan cheese. I was offered other cheese options to which I obviously declined.
When my sandwich came (no cheese) it was on regular bread, not GF.
I also had a suspicion it was grilled in butter but can’t be sure.
It could have just been a bad waitress but restaurants that advertise vegan food should really be more responsible and knowledgeable with what they claim to be serving.
I went here and I asked the woman at the counter if their bread was vegan and she said no. What’s the point in having vegan cheese but no vegan bread? There is no actual vegan option here except the salad and possibly some of the fries.
