Good upscale vegan experience - Edit
I’m not huge in upscale dining but the Gate’s dishes were well made and presented. A good option if you are in the Hammersmith area and want something fancy.

Had the most divine courgette flower, arancini and a super filling wellington. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was reminiscent of fine dining and I would recommend it for WFPB vegans.

Lifers! - Edit
We have been coming to this restaurant for decades which is testimony to how great this establishment is as we live on the south coast!
Read moreThe food on our latest visit was exceptional! We loved the depth of flavours of every course. The setting transports you away from the hustle and bustle of Hammersmith and just adds to the experience. Service was exceptional and we were impressed with how the waitress was able to serve all of the tables single-handedly yet without ever looking stressed.
Too many Vegan restaurants try to recreate a 'meaty' experience which is so off putting to us. We just want to eat great plant based food which is what The Gate does so well.
Our love of this restaurant means that we are 'lifers' and will always return when an opportunity presents itself! Keep on, keeping on!

Fine Dining - Local Hidden Gem - Edit
Tucked away off the beaten path in Hammersmith, this entirely plant-based restaurant uses only high-quality ingredients, and the presentation is fantastic and varied for every dish.
Read moreI tried several menu items and there wasn't a single one I didn't enjoy. The menu rotates frequently and it is a fine dining experience, so expect unique dishes with slightly higher prices and smaller portions—but if you fancy an afternoon or evening spent enjoying a few courses of novel, gourmet, and visually appealing dishes, it's well worth the price!

Incredibly nuanced, clean and robust vegan world cuisine. Astonishingly satisfying indo-Arabic alchemy of flavour, fragrance, texture, and culinary and nutritional Creativity. Desserts are celestial refreshments and wines and fresh juices etc are magnificent. Overall hugely memorable. Six stars!

Disappointing - Edit
The hype surrounding this is severely misplaced. The service is bad - we had plates forgotten about, and two different tales as to why we had to wait so long.
Read moreThat would be forgiveable if the food was good, but at best the food is just about okay. At these prices the food needs to be phenomenal. This was not.
I get the sense the crew just do not know how to cook well for the number of tables they have.
Shan't be returning, and I recommend you do not waste your time (or considerable expense)

Vegan and Delightful - Edit
On my last night in London I fortunately dined at The Gate. Having stayed at the Temple Lodge Club, a vegetarian (with vegan options) B&B next store, how could I not, especially as they provide a 15% off coupon.
Read moreI'm so glad I did. These people are pioneers in plant-based elevated cuisine. It shows in the flavours and the presentation. Thankfully the restaurant is now entirely vegan.

Lovely place, but lacking flavor - Edit
I came here on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation and it wasn’t a problem even though it was Mother’s Day.
Read moreThe aubergine teriyaki had no flavor on its own unless you ate it with the noodles that were below, which were delicious. The side salad was boring and oily.
The rhubarb and apple crumble was just ok, barely any crumbles on top.
I had a couple of their non-alcoholic spritz, which were very good, but a small glass for £10!
Pros: Good, fast service, Beautiful patio, Decent drink selection
Cons: It lacked flavor

We had a Virgin Mary (great taste) and an Elderflower Spritz (which barely tasted like Elderflower), the Chipotle Mushrooms and the Chickpea Tagine (both were excellent) plus a Rhubarb Cheesecake which was stunningly good.

One of my fav restaurants! - Edit
The Gate is one of my favourite vegan restaurants in London. I have been going for a good 10 years now and the menu never disappoints. Always fresh and creative, all my meat-eating friends that I bring there are always very impressed. A bit on the pricey side but great for a special meal.

What I hoped it would be - Edit
It was our first plant-based restaurant that we planned to go to in our 5 days in London and it set the bar very high. The atmosphere was chic casual and filled with natural light. The service was friendly and attentive. We had the Green Dragon Salad and the Chipotle Wild Mushrooms. The presentation was beautiful and flavors and freshness were exceptional.
