Good overall - Edit
I took family here because it seemed like a safe option from everything I'd heard. The food was definitely good, and they do still have the vegan menu, although you have to ask for it. There were ~5 options or so, plus the vegan panino on the lunch menu which I ended up going for. Whatever cheese they used worked really well and it was super filling for being a veggie and cheese sandwich! I got the rosemary garlic fries as a side and I wish the seasoning was a little heavier but the fries were still good.
Read moreIt's a little on the expensive side, either on par or a bit more expensive than the Owl House depending on the dish, though owl house has had some off days the last few times I've gone in so maybe this is the better choice now.
The chocolate hazelnut "cake", for $7, was the size of a slightly larger than average petit four. I got it to go and was surprised at how small it was especially given the size of the to-go box (the smaller clamshell type one). It had the date crust which is not my favorite; no details were listed on the menu and I didn't think to ask. Considering you can get a massive cake slice from the Fern for $8, in the same size to-go box, maybe skip it. It did taste great, though.
Pros: Good food, Great atmosphere, Friendly staff
Cons: Small dessert portion, Can get busy, A little expensive

Love a dedicated vegan menu (that pulls through) - Edit
I was impressed with the vegan selection they had! It’s great when they put thought into the vegan options, have a separate menu, and the food is actually good. Got the veggie platter to share and I had the maplewood salad with falafel. Didn’t care for the vegan feta but the salad itself was delicious! And a huge portion, I never leave food behind but I just couldn’t finish this. Would go back again.

Waaaayy better than it used to be - Edit
They have a dedicated vegan menu that you don't even have to ask for. It has a ton of options on it. I would suggest a reservation because this place is busy. This is a great spot to bring non vegan friends as well so everyone is happy. Place is pricey but kinda what you would expect for a little fancier if an outing. They do have one vegan dessert but pro top just go to get caked right around the corner for way more dessert options. It's also always fun to walk around the village gate because it's such a nice area.

Complete 180!!! - Edit
Vegan is the future!! About a decade ago, I spent a lot of time at Village Gate, but I’d never bother with the Gatehouse bc they never had anything for me to eat. Fast forward to last night’s dinner, and wow what an improvement!! I’d been hearing good things about their new menu so I’m glad I finally got to check it out! I ordered the Gate Plate, shared a Maplewood salad and got to try the cauliflower steak. All top notch! The choc hazelnut dessert is pretty epic too. Well done Gatehouse. Welcome to the 21st century!

Good food with separate vegan menu - Edit
My friends and I decided to check out this spot and the food and drinks were good! I ordered the avocado burger, which wasn't what I expected but was still delicious and I believe it is gluten free, so that's a plus if you are looking for that! Also I made the mistake of ordering the sweet potato fries for my side because I heard they were really good, but I didn't realize they came with honey so my partner ended up eating them, he did quite enjoy them. I am looking forward to trying more of their menu items in the future!

What an improvement! - Edit
I loved Gate House! It's such an improvement over even just one year ago. They have a separate vegan menu with a ton of clearly-labelled options. I'll be back!

Few Vegan Options - Edit
This restaurant is really nice. They have outdoor seating in the summer and a pretty interior. The location is in a courtyard with several restaurants. The reasons I am giving it a low review is because there really was not many options for vegans although it’s listed as a “vegan-friendly” restaurant. You can either get a small plate of hummus with a few veggies for about $15, the vegetable entrée plate or a veggie burger. The rest of the menu is meat and dairy items. They do not offer vegan cheese or other items to accommodate vegans at this time. You will find food to eat here if you are vegan but I would not go out of my way to go here if you are vegan.

Cons: Few vegan options , Meat and daily items mostly
