I experienced this place for the first time last night. There's indoor seating but also a super interesting outdoor space. The food was next level gourmet. They clearly put a lot of effort into making it beautiful as well as tasty.

This place feels magical! It is centrally located, but tucked away, off an alley, at the foot of some stone steps where they’ve set up their outdoor seating with small tables and cushions - so creative if the weather/temperature are tolerable and you don’t mind sitting on stairs for a bit! They even have cozy blankets to help you keep warm. The service was friendly and attentive from the start. I had a 6:30 reservation (very early for Portugal!), but they don’t start serving food til 7pm, so I had a glass of vinho verde wine first (so good!). The food menu is small and changes regularly with season and supply, so don’t assume you’ll know what they’re serving based on menu items or photos you see online—but honestly, the surprise element is fun, and I don’t think you can go wrong! I ordered two starters rather than a main dish, and stuck to gluten free items only: the Hokkaido Creamy Soup with Ginger and Herbs (coconut milk base) and the tamale (cornmeal, tofu, vegetables, traditionally wrapped, with a warm delicious sauce on the side. For dessert, the cassava cake with glazed pumpkin and rice paper topping was to die for. So soft, and not too sweet - both of which can be hard to find in vegan/gluten free cakes and baked goods! We had a nice dining experience at The Food Temple. We hadn’t booked a table, but they found space for us inside anyways. The menu is small, and ever changing. We had everything on the menu and it was all very nice. Very flavorful and different from what we’ve had in other places. The waiter was so friendly and helpful and the restaurant in itself was just so cute. Next time we are back in Lisbon, we will make sure to book a table, so we can try and sit outside, which just looked so charming.

This place is a hidden gem! Unfortunately, when we arrived (just after opening time) we discovered that the restaurant was already fully booked (this is always a good sign I guess), however this turned out to be a blessing as we were offered the opportunity to eat on the steps outside, sat on some mats with a purpose-made fold-up table to rest our food and drink on. And although it was a little chilly in early-May it was a lovely experience, matched by the friendly service and good food.

We couldn’t have loved it more. Service was so sweet and friendly, food was top notch with creative dishes and amazing flavours (we tried almost everything on the menu- menu changes seasonally). The seating outside on site stairs is a very unique experience, would recommend for a couple or good friends. If you had a bad knee / leg, or are a group of 3ppl +, I’d recommend reserving and asking for a table to be set up outside.

We sat outside which was on the steps, but this was fine as the cushions were comfortable! The food was out of this world, some of the eBay vegan food I’ve had. Must try are the figs for desert and the soup starter.

Probei a sopa fría: estupenda. Tamén unha bruschetta e estaba moi rica. O último prato dos que había que probei foi un pastel de verduras con puré de remolacha. Isto foi o que menos me gustou, mais aínda gostei menos da sobremesa: figos ao viño con xeado. Tamén probei dúas bebidas frías: moi augadas. Non estivo mal ningún prato, mais coidan tanto a presentación que inflan o prezo. Quedei con ganas de probar algunhas cousas que houbo noutros días, mais contenta en xeral cos salgados. The service here is faultless! All of the staff are friendly, helpful and professional (all bilingual). Really lovely relaxed atmosphere (don't dress up), with a "hipster" vibe. The food was lovely but not outstanding (lacked a bit of seasoning) and quite a small menu but they said its because they have just reopened post covid.

Read moreThey change their menu very often so there is always new things to discover, but one thing I noticed is that the eggplants are perfectly cooked all the time.
The beverages are also great, from local brewed beer to homemade cocktails.
I advise you to book ahead if you plan to go there. The current (april 2021) sitting outside is on the steps next to the restaurant, but if you are more than two or/and can't sit on the steps, they can also install regular tables.

Went by for dinner and we left happy. We ordered a couple different things to share and everything was flavorful and nicely presented, the prices were reasonable, and the staff were really nice. The restaurant carries beers from a local brewery (DeBru) which was lovely. Highly recommend the donuts for dessert, they were fantastic. The atmosphere as well was cute and personal.
