Great Coffee and Vegan Sweets - Edit
The Coronado has a bohemian atmosphere and serves excellent organic coffee and delicious vegan sweets. They also have a modest menu of vegetarian and vegan options and a full bar. I enjoy their food—particularly the cauliflower tacos—but it doesn’t feel “clean” to me. I don’t eat a lot of processed food and sometimes when I eat at Coronado I feel nauseous afterward. I think they have about the best coffee in Phoenix and I love their sweets—particularly the rosemary chocolate chip cookie!

Absolutely amazing! - Edit
My boyfriend and I had lunch here today, and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. We ordered three things- the cauliflower tacos, the breakfast burrito, and the beet burger- thinking we’d try each of them and take some home. We ended up eating every single bite, and it wasn’t because the portions were small (the portions were perfect!), it was just that good. There were so many things we wanted to try! We’ll be going back for sure.

I come here about once a week. My favorite menu items are the cauliflower tacos and the breakfast sandwich with tofu. I crave these all week! The mimosas are strong and the pastries are all vegan and delicious without fail

Top Meal From My Trip - Edit
I honestly think the food and drinks I ordered at The Coronado were among the top, if not THE top meal of my trip! And all I had were some chips with guacamole and a cocktail! The food was delicious, though, and the outdoor seating was so cool. I loved this place!

Love It - Edit
I ate here almost every morning while vacationing in Phoenix. The biscuits and gravy we're my favorite, I think. I also had an excellent Cesar Brussels Sprouts salad and the tofu scramble. Great coffee too. It's set up so cute, like a house, I could have hung out there all day.

Amazing tacos - Edit
I came here while I was on vacation with my non-vegan family (I'm the only vegan, they're all carnivores.) We ate here three times during our week-long vacation, so clearly we liked it. We actually went over a year ago, but I totally forgot to leave a review, so hopefully I can remember everything and not too much has changed!
Read moreI know we definitely ordered each of the tacos: the cauliflower tacos, the potato tacos, and the chorizo tacos w/tofu. The tacos were amazing. My family ate the cauliflower and potato tacos and loved them; they said they were just as good as the meat filled tacos they're used to eating. I ate the chorizo tacos and fell in love. I will warn you that these were very spicy, but I love spicy, so I loved these.
My parents also ordered a sandwich that I'm not seeing on the menu, so I'm not sure if maybe it was some sort of special or maybe they just took if off the menu. But it was some sort of avocado sandwich that my parents raved about for days.
So all in all, The Coronado was a great success. They definitely have more vegetarian options than vegan, but they could only serve chorizo tacos and I would be content so it wasn't a problem for me!
Pros: Amazing tacos, Good value
Cons: Not as many vegan options

cauliflower tacos oh my! - Edit
We are a vegetarian family with one vegan. This restaurant has a great mix of both! We were pleased with the variety on the menu and most sauces are vegan! The cauliflower tacos were amazing! The cauliflower has a crunchy coating and goes well with the sauce and corn tortilla. I wish we had this restaurant near us in VA. Who knew Phoenix had so many great vegan restaurants? Thanks again Happy Cow for directing us to The Coronado!

Good food - Edit
This restaurant was kind of small but has some charm. I was a little scpetical driving up and walking in but I was pleasantly suprised with the food and atmosphere. I order there breakfast tofu burrito and to was very yummy. I would have liked to seem a larger selection, however did have a nice variety to choose from. Over all I had a nice experience.

Fantastic vegan food, lovely staff - Edit
We were in Arizona for our honeymoon and this was our favorite restaurant! We only planned to visit once but we had to go again on our way to the airport. Love love love!
Read moreThe chorizo tacos were very fresh and the sauce was great. My hubby loved the biscuits and gravy. The baked goods were awesome and really unique- we had rosemary chocolate chip cookies and a Mexican hot chocolate brownie.
There's free wifi, the music is really cool (Chuck Berry, the Cramps, David Bowie!!), and the patio is really nice on a hot day. On top of that, the staff is so lovely. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Phoenix.
Pros: Very friendly staff, Excellent food, Dog friendly

cauliflower tacos - Edit
Oh my, so good! First time eating at The Coronado and I asked for the most popular menu item and got the cauliflower tacos. Three overflowing tacos were on my plate and although I only had room to eat 1 1/2, I ate them all. I also had the Brussels sprout Caesar salad and it was good but not to die for like those tacos. My date had the quesadillas and loved them, too. Casual and quick. Very friendly staff. Outdoor seating.

We had the special cornbread waffle and chili sauce, a sweet and savory dish. We also had the pancakes and we're nice and fluffy. The atmosphere is positive and good music playing.

Cute location / limited menu - Edit
I was more than just devastated when Bragg's closed. At least after getting the bad news, I heard they would be opening a new restaurant.
Read moreAdmittedly it is hard to ever make it over there since Green is right across the street (which is fully vegan). I had trouble finding anything on the menu that was fully vegan and not spicy. I ended up getting the Huevos Rancheros (totally my fault) they were tasty but SO spicy. They do not have many gluten free options. All together they have a very small menu.
The location is absolutely adorable and the staff was very friendly.
Great spot for those who do enjoy mexican flare and spice.
Thought: Why put vegan mayo on your street corn if your going to also put dairy cheese on it?

We ordered the tofu vegetable scramble, vegan chorizo tofu tacos, and the street corn. The street corn was amazing - charred from the grill with sweet vegan mayo and spices on it. The chorizo tacos were very spicy, and the tofu scramble had great flavor!

ALL DESSERTS ARE NOW VEGAN! - Edit
2ND UPDATE:
Read moreI have now tried almost every vegan item on their menu. Everything has been delicious and their housemade sauces are to die for!
Their breakfast sandwich and Farmyard Tofu Scramble dishes are great breakfast choices. I like the Biscuits & Gravy, but if you aren't a mushroom fan you may want to avoid b/c their mushroom gravy contains hella mushrooms.
For lunch, the Potato Tacos, Cauliflower Tacos, and Fried Guacamole are my absolute favorites. So much incredible flavor in all the above, and have I mentioned the sauces??!! (Vegan hack: Omit cheese from the Potato Tacos.)
The Red Bean Quesadilla is delicious, and if you're like me and don't like cheese (even vegan cheese) rest easy, as this quesadilla is queso-free. Yay!
The Red Potato and Garbanzo Bean Burger is very tasty, but vegans must remember that this place is vegetarian, not vegan, and they will NOT ask you/warn you about non-vegan items. The bread for this burger is not vegan, but there is a vegan alternative. Vegans must remember to ask for vegan when ordering, just to be safe.
Last, but not least, the desserts are now ALL vegan, and they are AMAZING! So many delicious concoctions, and all so buttery, sweet and dreamy!
Awesome little chill/hangout spot too.

The manager/owner addressed my previous concerns.

I stopped by last weekend and tried the Jackfruit Sliders and the Potato Tacos. The service was slow; like, REALLY slow. It took exactly 1 hour to get my food, and the waitress didn't bother to apologize or acknowledge my eternity in waiting. However, when the food came it was delicious.
The Jackfruit (which I got on focaccia because their slider bread is not vegan) was flavorful and went well with their focaccia bread and mayo. The french fries were awesome, fresh cut-tasting potatoes with a kick-tail spicy mayo dipping sauce. SO good!
The Potato Tacos were equally delicious. Fresh-tasting corn tortillas, crispy potatoes, a yummy cilantro dressing and red cabbage. Don't forget to omit the cheese to make this dish vegan.
I tried a Strawberry Hibiscus bar, which was delightful. I actually ate that first, whilst awaiting my food.
Great food, large portions. I mentioned the slow service and was told I'd be refunded, but alas, a week later and they haven't made good on their word, hence the 3-stars. I'll be happy to update once they get it together.

cute place, has board games out to play, which is fun! menu is really amazing, so much yummy stuff to choose from. down side was food took way too long to come out. I'm talking about 40 minutes. then one of our dishes that was supposed to be hot came out pretty cold. seemed like it had been sitting waiting to be brought out too long. the food was so good that it was still delicious even like that. would definitely go back sometime, but only if we have a lot of time available.

Follow the 7th Street Corridor to the Coronado - Edit
The Coronado is a lovely place located less than a mile north of the artsy Roosevelt row and looks like one of those house-type cafes that I would like to live in.
Read moreNot many seats inside and a menu small enough to fit on a 5x8 card, but the important thing is that they serve jackfruit. Yes, honey. Jackfruit - a special treat for folk who like variety in their vegetarian staples.
3 jackfruit sliders puleeeze! They held the mayo for me and still the bitty sandwiches were moist. Purple cabbage was crisp. Bread was lightly dry-toasted and soft. Perfect amount of fries, fried with skin on and not overly salted.
Will come again. Sho'nuff!
Pros: Near Art District, Open patio, Great ambience
Cons: Small menu, Close of comfort inside
